Let It Snow!

It’s hard to believe the weather. Just a week ago we were steadily heading into the balmy, mild 50s and some of us left the jackets at home. And just a few short days later, we came outside to see the ground covered in white and the temperatures dropping to below 30 degrees. Brrr! It seems winter has a hold on us yet, if the upcoming snowstorm is anything the meteorologists promise.

But despite many establishments closures this week, we have received a new shipment to add to our inventory, which we would love to highlight for you today.

To stay warm in this cold weather, our new sweaters may just become your best friends. Similar to our bestselling Dreamers brand, these sweaters come in two sizes - small/medium and medium/large and feature five beautiful colors. A crewneck is perfect for layering with button downs shirts too. They also feature a textured insert on the sides which adds a sophisticated touch.

We also got a whole selection of floral dresses in stock, mostly in darker tones, with brighter flowers in the print. Layer these with a soft, warm cardigan like in the images below and it will be a perfect outfit.

Season of Love

Happy February! Can you believe that just a month ago we were starting to write 2019 on our checks and in our planners, and now we are into the second month of the year?

We are slowly but surely moving closer to spring, not to mention the holidays coming up that can make the time go by even faster.

You guessed it. Valentine’s day!

We are two weeks away from the day of love. Feeling amorous? We have you covered. From adorable cards you can present to your loved ones to express your feelings to a soft, cozy red sweater you can buy for yourself (because treating yourself is just as important). Dreaming of Spring

While it is still undoubtedly winter, inklings of spring can be felt all throughout the city. Window displays are sporting brighter decorations and the colors pink and yellow are slowly making an appearance. Even some of the cherry trees around the city decided it’s spring time and started blooming early.

Our own window display at Meadow is getting lighter with anticipation of spring. The new merchandise that is now waiting for your perusal on our racks is full of light, airy chiffon, floral prints and thin, soft fabrics that are perfect for warmer weather layering.

The dresses now being displayed on our mannequins are covered in spring flowers. They are perfect both for wearing now with a pair of tights and a cardigan and for donning later, on their own, when the weather warrants it.

5 Ways to Wear Your Favorite Sweater

It’s that slow time of the year, right between Christmas and New Year’s, when most of us go into hibernation mode. Despite getting the urge to get up and do something, we quickly realize that there will be days for being busy coming up and that these quiet wintery days are for self-care, for relaxation, for time with family.

What is a part of your self-care ritual? Is it a day at the spa? A home-cooked meal? A shopping spree?

Here at Meadow we can help you out by equipping you for all of the above. Day at the spa? We have amazing soaps, lotions and bath products, including a honey oatmeal bath milk. Home-cooked meal? We have a beautiful, holiday-themed tea towel to complement your delicious cooking. Today we wanted to highlight our bestselling sweater and show you five different ways to wear it, from cozy to chic. You may know it as our Dreamers sweater, even though this particular one is a different brand and it is slightly lighter. But the look and the fit is identical.

1. With plaid and jeans

Add a long necklace to complete the look

A classic PNW look yet a bit dressier than your typical plaid. Wear the sweater over it for a relaxed fit, or tuck a corner of it into your jeans to show off the waist line. Pair with ankle-length booties for a night out, or with sneakers for running errands - so easy to dress this outfit up or down.

2. With work pants and a turtle neck

A beautiful way to rock your sweater to work. Add our classic striped black pants, layer a turtleneck underneath and tie it all together with a chunky statement necklace. Comfortable, stylish and warm. Tuck in the sweater in the front of your pants to create a more silhouetted look.

3. With leggings and a vest

Plus an infinity scarf in a similar tone

Our Ponte pants are a step up from regular leggings as the material is thicker and sturdier, making you feel secure and comfortable while wearing them. They also have two stretch panels built into the sides, making these pants look very flattering on. Pair them with the sweater, add a soft, textured vest and a chunky infinity scarf to complete the look. Voila!

4. With a skirt and boots

We love this classy outfit both for work and play. Tuck in your sweater into the skirt to highlight your waist line, add a long necklace (like we did with the chevron one above) and throw on a chunky scarf to complement it all. Pair the outfit with a pair of boots or ankle booties and your sweater will never look better!

5. With a dress and a belt

A perfect combination for the holidays or everyday wear. Put the sweater over your favorite dress, whether fitted or flared, add a belt, a necklace and a scarf and you will be surprised how fresh and unique your sweater will look. For a bonus, try wearing a sparkly/shiny dress and see how your sweater shines!

While we may not get a white Christmas here in Seattle, the absence of snow will not dampen our holiday spirit. Queen Anne avenue is awash with yellow twinkling lights and the neighborhood is joyously celebrating this winter with their own light displays.

This being truly the most wonderful time of the year, we want to make sure you feel wonderful in whatever you are wearing this season. Whether you have holiday parties to attend or a dinner invitation at a friend’s house, we aim to make you feel amazing in your outfit.

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Despite many of us being somewhat in denial about the arrival of winter, it was just a few days ago when so many of us stepped outside and felt a sharp drop in temperature that we finally faced the inevitable. Winter is not just coming, winter is here.

Unlike the many fur-lined creatures that graze the fabric of many of the shop’s new items - be it llamas, sloths or foxes - us humans have very little to warm us up when the digits on the thermometer drop into 40s and 30s.

Never fear! Here at Meadow we’ve been preparing just for this moment.

We have new items in stock that will make even the coldest day outside seem like a breeze. Festive and warm sweatshirts that feature llamas and mistletoe, sloths and foxes, and even kittens playfully chasing balls of yarn. A whole shelf full of new scarves - infinity and the regular kind - will make bundling up fun. We have fleece-lined leggings, warm turtlenecks and sweaters galore. A Season for Comfort

It seems that summer was just a blink away, yet here are waking up to find ourselves facing December. The days are getting shorter and darkness envelops our city a bit sooner than most of us would like. But what about taking after the Danes and celebrating the arrival of winter with hygge?

The concept of hygge - pronounced hoo-gah - is all about embracing the cold and the dark by inviting warmth and light into this season of nesting. Think cozy knits, blankets, fuzzy socks, mugs full of warm liquids, nights spent with loved ones around the fireplace or out and about with girlfriends while wearing something equally cozy and fabulous.

We’ve been preparing for winter at Meadow and are delighted with the items that keep arriving. This week we’ve gotten new faux fur vest, plaid vests and jackets, lots of soft and cozy cardigans, new plaid shirts for all your layering needs and absolutely adorable sweaters that make us think of Christmas. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Day is here. Whether you are celebrating with turkey, tofu or tamales, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, near and far!

On a day where gratitude is the only requirement, we hope you take a moment to reflect on all the blessings life has bestowed upon you. Look around to notice your family, your friends, your home, the bountiful feast that either you or someone you love carefully prepared. Remember the smiles you see today, hold your loved ones just a touch longer. Share in the laughter and the joy. After all, that’s what holidays are all about!

Here at Meadow we are taking Thanksgiving day to do the same, so our store will be closed today.

But we are back tomorrow with our regular business hours of 11 am to 6 pm.

And while so many will enjoy the many sales big retailers will be offering on Black Friday, we’d love to put a pitch in for Small Business Saturday, which is on November 24th.
