It’s the last weekend in May! Estimates say more than 39 million people are planning to travel away from home this Memorial Day weekend. A solid number of those looking to travel will be heading to the Seattle area, as a report from AAA shows Seattle ranked as the number two U.S. destination for Memorial Day weekend travelers. The predicted influx is a welcome sight for businesses on the Seattle waterfront. Boat tours are filled up, and people crowd the sidewalks.

Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day. The holiday began as a way to honor soldiers who died in the Civil War, but the day now honors all U.S. veterans who have sacrificed their lives. We observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries and memorials. Some people wear a red poppy in remembrance of those fallen in war. On a less somber note, many people take weekend trips or throw parties and barbecues on the holiday, perhaps because Memorial Day weekend—the long weekend comprising the Saturday and Sunday before Memorial Day and Memorial Day itself—unofficially marks the beginning of summer. Please bring on Summer as soon as possible, we are ready, right? I seem to be loosing the little color I managed to get by the pool while in Mexico.

LUSH has a brilliant blue sundress and a light blue romper! Oh, to be young again! They remind me of my younger days when I wasn’t so worried about how my arms look at 64.

GILLI is back with it’s great jumpsuit. These jumpsuits seem to fit all shapes and sizes. Love them. Many of you look at them and say that jumpsuits never fit you right. These are different. Try them and see. I am long waisted and I am so happy with the fit and the fabric is lovely!

FLYING MONKEY has some dark denim, kick bottoms jeans, that are super cute and flattering. They look great with sandals. How do I know you ask? Because I bought them! Pardon the pun, but they are flying out the door.

Whatever you might be doing this weekend to celebrate, take a moment in silence to thank those who sacrificed their lives so we could have a life of freedom.
