Let’s face it—Summer has officially arrived and she’s making no effort to be subtle. The days are hotter in Seattle, the iced drinks are getting larger, and the only thing we want to do is wear something that feels like nothing at all while still looking like we’ve got it all together. Sound familiar?
This week at Meadow, we’re loving pieces in the Boutique that make it easy to look fabulous without breaking a sweat. Lightweight dresses that move with the breeze, wide-leg pants that feel like pajamas but say “I made an effort,” and easy tanks and tees that slide seamlessly from beach walk to happy hour. You can even layer up when the sun dips and the chill comes back—just enough to remind you it’s still the PNW.
Accessories are playful this season. Straw bags and barely-there sandals are all doing the heavy lifting, so you don’t have to. It’s the kind of style that says, “Yes, I just rolled out of the hammock, and yes, I still look good.”
Meanwhile, down south in Mazatlán where I live, things are heating up in more ways than one. Locals are swapping beach days for twilight strolls along the Malecón and popping into shady cafés to escape the afternoon sun. There’s a hum of creativity in the air, and storytelling is taking center stage.
I have really tapped in to my creative side. I knew I had one all along! With the help of many volunteers, on July 24, Mazatlán Monologues will bring true stories to life at El Recreo—a lineup of seven voices, each sharing a glimpse into their lives. No notes, no fluff, just real people and a mic. We’re having the best time here—it honestly feels like being a kid in a candy store. There are so many exciting opportunities to create something special, something the whole community can be part of. My only wish? That Meadow Boutique was just down the street, so I could swing by and grab the perfect outfit for every event we’ve got coming up!
We’re also hosting Friday night films at Mazatlán Film & Theater, giving movie lovers a cool, cozy place to escape the summer heat and soak up great stories. Add in the live music drifting through plazas and rooftop bars, and suddenly there’s no shortage of reasons to get dressed up—no matter how relaxed the dress code. Shelley, I’m starting to think we need a Meadow Boutique right here in Mazatlán… and I happen to know the perfect person to run it. Hint hint!
