Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Despite many of us being somewhat in denial about the arrival of winter, it was just a few days ago when so many of us stepped outside and felt a sharp drop in temperature that we finally faced the inevitable. Winter is not just coming, winter is here.

Unlike the many fur-lined creatures that graze the fabric of many of the shop’s new items - be it llamas, sloths or foxes - us humans have very little to warm us up when the digits on the thermometer drop into 40s and 30s.

Never fear! Here at Meadow we’ve been preparing just for this moment.

We have new items in stock that will make even the coldest day outside seem like a breeze. Festive and warm sweatshirts that feature llamas and mistletoe, sloths and foxes, and even kittens playfully chasing balls of yarn. A whole shelf full of new scarves - infinity and the regular kind - will make bundling up fun. We have fleece-lined leggings, warm turtlenecks and sweaters galore. And a number of soft, fuzzy cardigans that will allow you to sport your favorite fall and spring shirts without freezing.

With everything we have to show you, we can confidently say that once we bundle you up while still making you look fabulous, ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ will remain a song on the radio rather than your state of being while outdoors.

A Season for Comfort

It seems that summer was just a blink away, yet here are waking up to find ourselves facing December. The days are getting shorter and darkness envelops our city a bit sooner than most of us would like. But what about taking after the Danes and celebrating the arrival of winter with hygge?

The concept of hygge - pronounced hoo-gah - is all about embracing the cold and the dark by inviting warmth and light into this season of nesting. Think cozy knits, blankets, fuzzy socks, mugs full of warm liquids, nights spent with loved ones around the fireplace or out and about with girlfriends while wearing something equally cozy and fabulous.

We’ve been preparing for winter at Meadow and are delighted with the items that keep arriving. This week we’ve gotten new faux fur vest, plaid vests and jackets, lots of soft and cozy cardigans, new plaid shirts for all your layering needs and absolutely adorable sweaters that make us think of Christmas. Not to mention some decadent holiday dresses and jumpsuits!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Day is here. Whether you are celebrating with turkey, tofu or tamales, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, near and far!

On a day where gratitude is the only requirement, we hope you take a moment to reflect on all the blessings life has bestowed upon you. Look around to notice your family, your friends, your home, the bountiful feast that either you or someone you love carefully prepared. Remember the smiles you see today, hold your loved ones just a touch longer. Share in the laughter and the joy. After all, that’s what holidays are all about!

Here at Meadow we are taking Thanksgiving day to do the same, so our store will be closed today.

But we are back tomorrow with our regular business hours of 11 am to 6 pm.

And while so many will enjoy the many sales big retailers will be offering on Black Friday, we’d love to put a pitch in for Small Business Saturday, which is on November 24th.

Small business are really the heart of our economy and we hope you vote with your shopping power to choose small and choose local. With your support and your love for our small neighborhood boutique, we continue to serve the communities of Queen Anne and those nearby. And for that, we are so very grateful. Holiday Season Favorites

As sure as the pages torn out of an old-style wall calendar, each day we get closer to Thanksgiving, to Hanukkah, to Christmas, to Kwanzaa, as the year slowly draws to an end.

Whichever holiday we celebrate, all of us enjoy the holiday lighting ceremonies, the music wishing us good tidings, the smiles we will glimpse on the faces of passerby.

Sweater Weather Picks + a Holiday Preview

Fall is in full swing in Seattle. The trees are putting out their final color display before November winds will strip them down in preparation for winter. As trees and plants are actively storing energy into their roots, it is similarly a time for us, humans, to get grounded and rooted.

One way to do that is to choose comfort when picking out what to wear for the day. Treat yourself to a cozy sweater that will boost your mood and keep you comfortable on the commute to work. Pick out a pair of jeans that will fit and flatter, giving you that extra boost of energy when it's gray and cloudy outside.

Cozy and Chic Fall Essentials

As the weather gets cooler and the streets of Queen Anne begin to turn gold from the myriad of fallen leaves, we start looking for items in our closets that provide comfort when venturing outdoors.

Something soft to wrap yourself into when the wind picks up, something that will keep you cozy both out walking and inside the office.

This week we have gotten a number of beautiful items in stock to celebrate Fall and we can’t wait to share them with you!

Our Dreamers sweaters are back, and in five new colors to boot! Come check out the Plum, Red Rust, Coffee, Ginger and Olive. These bestselling sweaters are beloved for a reason - stylish yet supremely comfortable they are easy to dress up or down depending on your preference.
