Mom's Day. Mom's Month.

In 2021, Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 9. A day to honor mothers has existed for as long as, well, there have been mothers. How can we give extra recognition to moms, especially if we’re apart? Mother’s Day celebrates motherhood and is a day to make an extra-special effort to recognize and appreciate mothers’ roles in our lives. Often this day is extended to generations of mothers—grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers—as well as to mother figures. I say we give moms everywhere the whole month! They have proven to be resilient and loving for their family in the past year. Clap. Clap. Clap. Hug. Hug. Hug. No words.

10 WAYS TO CELEBRATE MOM

The past year’s been a challenge. Many of us are rethinking how to give extra recognition to moms. Some of us are apart from our moms when we’d normally be together. How can we celebrate differently? Most moms simply wish to connect with their children and spend time with family in any way possible—if not in person, then with a phone call or video chat! If your mom is at home, give her a day off from any family chores, especially during this difficult time. Someone else can take full responsibility for making or serving the food, clearing and cleaning the dishes, and doing the laundry. Volunteer!

This probably covers the big stuff, but here are 10 creative ways to reach out to mom to show her a little extra comfort, love, and recognition. After all, moms are always there for us!

1. Offer yard and garden services.

2. Decorate your mom’s door or give flowers!

3. Cook for Mom or set up a virtual brunch date.

4. Give your mom a long phone call or put on a virtual talent show!

5. Watch a movie or show together, side by side.

6. Get creative: Make Mom a video, a music playlist, or a piece of art!

7. Get outside! Go for a stroll in the park or how about packing mom a picnic?

8. Make a homemade gift!

9. Travel virtually to a museum or garden together!

Here’s our new arrivals for this week, that your mom will cherish, especially coming from you. We have some amazing pieces, I for one am very excited, since I am a mom. There is something for every Mom at Meadow Boutique.

DAVI & DANI sports some super stylish dresses and jumpsuits. Any of these can be dressed up for date night or dressed down with some tennies. Mom is sure to like the the simple lines and patterns. If she throws on a little cardigan, she can go from day to evening.

CC TRUCKER Baseball Hats are back again with florals and distressed solids. Great for all seasons and provides shade while running quick errands, marathons, enjoying outdoor activities - everything our moms love to do!

INDIGO TANGERINE & DEV D+CO have designed some tea towels with all the right words we want to say to our Moms! They are sure cause a giggle or a good laugh and for sure a hug! Messages like these can make your Moms’ day in a hurry! They will be a constant reminder that you remembered her on Mother’s Day when she uses them in the kitchen.

So You Feel Like Traveling?

Many Americans are thinking of travel again. We all have the itch to travel after this past year of being homebound. And who can blame us? After all, it’s been more than a year of seesawing coronavirus infection rates, on-again, off-again lockdown restrictions, and simple quarantine fatigue. How many of you haven’t seen your loved ones or even hugged them? How many of you have been dreaming of going to a tropical island and just laying in the sun with your favorite book in hand? We have missed those precious moments and have vowed never to take them for granted again. It’s the little things that we have been doing and never thinking twice about it. Now it seems we have to, lessons we have all learned. Wherever the road may take you, make sure you pack with intention. Masks and sanitizer are still a priority even though we may have been vaccinated. We just want you to stay safe no matter if you fly or ride. Remember that everyone has their own comfort level and being respectful of each other takes a lot of the anxiety away. Once again, “We Are All In This Together” now and forever. This is how we chose to see it and it feels good to say it every time we write this blog. Write yourself a sticky note with this message on your bathroom mirror, we promise it will change your day!

CELLO has some really fashion forward pants, high waisted, cut off at the bottom and a color that will know your socks off. Check them in the photos below.

BLACK LABEL sports some new high waisted, button fly, boot cut denim. These are very stylish. We have so many different kinds of jeans right now and they seem to be flying out the door. Hmmm, it must mean those jogger sweats are getting a little old, am I right? Are they dumped in a pile in your closet somewhere?

GILLI is known for their dresses and they never disappoint. This week we have a short green spunky dress and a sleek, slim striped dress. The striped dress is truly a body hugger and the green dress makes you want to skip to your favorite coffee joint. Both dresses will definitely make you want to be seen!

STACATTO adorns 2 floral tee-shirts with a variety of rich spring colors. They really are so colorful and will pair nicely with shorts or jeans. The v-neck and round neck of these tops are very flattering. Both of these tees would go nicely with the CELLO pants I told you about above.

SUNLILLY Roll & Go Sun Hats are perfect for travel and easily rolled up and packed neatly in your bag. Great color patterns and the brim is wide enough to keep the sun from scorching that beautiful face and neck of yours.

SCARVES of every lovely color you might think of that will match your Spring wardrobe. I love these scarves! The patterns remind me of traveling to southeast Asia. Rich in color and patterns. And, you will look fantastic no matter what your choice of travel might be. We all deserve a break and from what we have heard in the past weeks, many people are ready to take it. One customer family took a 8 week RV trip though different states with 4 kids, others are going to Hawaii, weddings are commencing with small gatherings, while some of you are just getting together with others that have been vaccinated so you can move about more freely and hug and whisper sweet nothings in each others ears. There is nothing better than “Human Connection.” So often in the past we might have felt that it wasn’t that important or maybe we took it for granted, but now we know just how important it actually is to us.

Like at Meadow Boutique, we know that we couldn’t have weathered the storm without you. We know that we cherish your funny stories and sharing a laugh or a cry, whatever the case may be. We have seen it all and are grateful that you trust us with all those crazy emotions you seem to be feeling! We don’t care that you gained 15 pounds during COVID. This too shall pass. Seattle’S Sunny Days

We cannot help but love these past few weeks of sun. We know the rain is around the corner but Seattleites are a lot more appreciative of the sun than any other state! We let the sun in the Boutique every chance we get, by opening the door to the outside. That feeling of the sun’s rays makes us warm all over. I have said it before and I will say it again, Seattle is the most beautiful place when the sun comes out. I say this because I have travelled the globe and been to many beautiful places. The sky is so blue here and the trees are so green. This beautiful site cannot be viewed everywhere in the world. Gratitude comes to mind. Breathtaking!

Earth Day Tees

Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues, and Earth Day 2021 will occur on Thursday, April 22—the holiday's 51st anniversary. The holiday is now a global celebration that’s sometimes extended into Earth Week, a full seven days of events focused on green living. The brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson and inspired by the protests of the 1960s, Earth Day began as a “national teach-in on the environment” and was held on April 22 to maximize the number of students that could be reached on university campuses. By raising public awareness of pollution, Nelson hoped to bring environmental causes into the national spotlight.

My Birth Day is Earth Day and I am so happy about that, you have no idea! Every year I throw on my favorite tee and hiking gear to head up to a secluded place in Nature. I have to say, that the past year has lead me there over and over again. When times were tough and I felt disconnected, I would venture into the woods on a hike and find comfort. I have so much gratitude for this beautiful Earth and we all should do our part to keep it into existence. It’s truly as simple as just planting a tree or some flowers so the earth can exude the colors of the season. What can you do this Earth Day to show love for our environment? All it takes is a conscious effort to make things happen and create change. Here are 10 simple ways:

1. Clean up a local beach.

2. Plant a garden at your home or school.

3. Scan your neighborhood for litter.

4. Sign an environmental action petition.

5. Start a conversation.

6. Help restore bird habitats.

7. Buy a reusable water bottle.

8. Plant a tree.

9. Clean vacant lots in the community.

10. Unplug and spend time outside.

April Showers. May Flowers!

How many times have you heard the phrase, “April showers bring May flowers?” It’s true. We know that for sure by living here in Seattle. It’s so green and lush and flowers and cherry trees are already blooming. This is truly our favorite time of year. This morning when I came to work, there was a little bouquet of flowers and a pine cone sitting at the front door entrance. It was so sweet. I wonder who took the time to do it? Whoever you are, thank you, it has made my day! Spring is definitely in the air and kindness seems to be too. When kind acts appear like this one, you remember that we all need to feel special no matter how it appears in our lives. Ahhh Spring, it brings out the best in all of us!

What’s in store for this weeks new arrivals? I can honestly say a little of this and a little of that.

GILLI has 2 new Spring dresses, one very floral and the other a nice patterned print in denim blue and white.

CHRIS & CAROL is the mainstay this week with cap-sleeve longer tees and some light cardigans. They have also thrown in a polka-dot black and white polka-dot dress that’s a non-wrinkle fabric with a wrap front. I love the long sleeve striped pullover top with a hood. So soft and cozy. This top pairs well with your joggers (if they are still laying about) or for sure your jeans!

ENDLESS BLU adorns us with a very Springy dress in a green pattern. There’s a really fun light grey hoody cardigan made out of sweatshirt material. Perfect for those workout days or just lounging around. It’s a perfect “throw on” garment. Really stylish! My closet is ready for any of these pieces this week - there are some nice dresses to add to your wardrobe and some basic styles too.

Is It Really April?

Here we are - April is here and we can feel it in the air. The beautiful sunny days we have been experiencing here in the Northwest have surely boosted our mood. We opened our doors at the Boutique the other day because we just needed that fresh air feeling inside! And what do you think happens? You are all walking by with friends and dogs and husbands enjoying the day and soaking it all in!  And lo and behold, you take the time to come in and say hello and see how we are doing! RISEN Denim has a new style coming in at $48. It’s that frayed cut bottoms in a dark wash. Love. Love. Love. If you are ready for some shorts, we got those in too! You might as well stock up, because you know you will want them soon.

BBJ Los Angeles Denim has some true wider boyfriend cuts, distressed and dark wash. I tried these on and really liked them. A steal at $35.

ORANGE CREEK with a simple short sleeve top and a maxi polka-dot dress. Both so fashionable and ready for Spring!

E & M has a beautiful linen top with crocheted sleeves, quite intricate in design. The jacket is a navy blue with stripes inside the hood. Puts me in a sailing trip mood. The leggings are heavier weight with a button front that is easy to throw in a travel bag. Hint. Hint.

BLU PEPPER is all about sleeveless dresses in a short and long version. That baby blue color is so soothing. The jacket is a beige hue with the option to roll up the sleeves and show off the stripes in beige and brown.

DAY TO DAY This jacket is so cozy and perfect for the Spring evenings or walking around town.

GILLI threw in a versatile top with a navy pattern that will pair nicely with our denim or lightweight jackets we have this week.

Lastly but not least, there are some luscious fragranced candles by TRIED & TRUE and I bought 4 of the different fragrances. They smell delicious!

In Full Swing For Spring

Well, Spring is finally here! March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, isn’t that the saying? The end of the coronavirus pandemic is on the horizon at last, but the timeline for actually getting there feels like it shifts daily, with updates about viral variants, vaccine logistics, and other important variables seeming to push back the finish line or scoot it forward. When will we be able to finally live our lives again? Pandemics are hard to predict accurately, but we have enough information to make some confident guesses. A useful way to think about what’s ahead is to go season by season. For the most part, daily life will continue to be far from normal for the next few months. Normal is of course a slippery word, given that many Americans have had to report to work or have chosen to dine out, travel, and do all sorts of things that others have avoided. We have to live our lives as we see fit.

It seems with more and more people getting the vaccine, they are venturing out and can breathe a little easier. We can tell you that the customers this past week have been feeling more hope and joy for the days ahead. They want to get out in the world, go to one of their favorite restaurants, purchase a spring wardrobe, take a little trip. Kids are finally going back to school, albeit baby steps. We have seen moms coming in to buy school clothes for their daughters for the first time in over a year. I witnessed it yesterday and it seemed like such fun for them both. Daughters are willing to venture out and try new fashion and moms giving the green light to do so! Everyone seems to be feeling better about the future and what better time to brighten up or add to that wardrobe, than Spring! Meadow Boutique has got you covered. It’s time to spruce up that closet even though some days it feels like the rain will not stop, but then the sun comes out and it gets warmer and we are ready to call it Spring. The flowers are blooming and there is color everywhere. It’s exhilarating!

We are in Full Swing for Spring at Meadow! The Boutique is seeing the change on the racks and we love it! it put a spring in our step, that's for sure. Here’s what’s in store for you this week:

Hayden has brought us looks that I remember well from the 60’s & 70’s. I know, I know, I am dating myself but the tops and dresses in those days were so feminine. Hayden has brought those looks back with some lovely subtle Spring patterns as well as light denim joggers. We know you will love them.

Gilli brings us some new dresses, and oh how we love to see dresses on our racks again! Don’t say you have no where to wear a dress. Dresses are worn with tennies these days and can be dressed up or down in a moments notice.

Tea & Rose has a denim with that more relaxed look we are seeing now and they are cut off at the bottom. They will look great with your tennies now or sandals moving forward into Summer. The price point is a relief for the budget as well, at only $48. There are now no jeans in Meadow over $64. Can you believe it?

Love Tree has really outdone themselves with a super cute distressed longer denim jacket and light weight wide leg capris. That denim jacket is super stylish and the distress is in all the perfect places. I picked up one for myself and plan to style it with just about anything in my closet. It is a very versatile piece.

Ces Femme has a few delightful staple tops in a solid and stripe that will look great with the denim style you are gallivanting about town in. The fabric is nice and light for those warmer days ahead of us.

You will see a couple of woven handbags in the photos, but keep in mind there are only 2, so get them while the getting is good! Out with the old and in with the new.

Daylight Savings at Meadow

We have happily eased into daylight savings time, which means there are more hours of daylight to shop at your neighborhood boutique, Meadow. We believe that shopping here is saving you money because of our unbelievable prices and not only that, we know you and are happy to see you when you visit. It is so nice to have longer days as it feels like we are all waking up. Maybe you feel tired, unmotivated, or unproductive — and that's okay! Nobody can give 100% all the time; we're human and we all experience "off" days. Just make sure to take care of yourself so you can wake up tomorrow refreshed and ready to meet the day! There is nothing like the sun shining in Seattle. It is glorious!

Let’s have a heart-to-heart. It’s time to put your sweats and joggers aside and think about what you would like to be wearing for Spring. We know it will be hard, but next week we will be at 50% capacity, so it’s time to venture out and see how we can start living again according to the season. We are ready for you and eager to see those of you we haven’t seen for a while. Remember the old days when we were excited for Spring and we couldn’t wait to buy some new clothes? Well, these are the new days and we can still feel that way. I am cleaning out the pieces I haven’t worn for a while and purchasing some Spring pieces. I don’t have time to shop right now, said nobody ever!

There are some lovely Spring pieces that arrived this week. We promised they would. Les Amis sent some tops with thrills and frills on the sleeves. They pair well with any denim you may have or throw on a cardigan or jacket for cooler days. The colors are so light and bright. 2 Hearts brings 2 stylish dresses, one being Jackie-Oish and the other just fun and frilly in denim. Ces Femme is my pick with a dress peasant type dress I wore in the 70’s and also an eyelet sleeveless top. Love both of these pieces. Active USA sports a couple of floral tops in pink and black.Vervet Denim has some really fun styles you might like to try. All 3 styles are not skinny, they are more boyfriend style with very high waist. In the photos below, we are only showing the Vervet styles. Now you have the full scope of the new arrivals! We hope there is a piece you will “just have to have!”

Meadow Mood Boosters

Have you been eyeing the clothes in your closet for Spring? We certainly have! This is the time to clean out what you are tired of and replenish with some new Spring colors! This is the time of the year to change your mood. Although we still have a little ways to go to really enjoy the warmth and light that Spring will bring, we can begin to think about what we can do to renew ourselves and to better balance our lives. The sun is shining more, the days are getting longer and people on the street seem to be smiling under those masks! We have to say, it just seems easier to breathe.

What better time than Spring to re-group and re-prioritize, and even re-invent ourselves, and the lives we find ourselves living. Here are some Spring “rituals” to boost your mood from Psychology Today.

De-clutter your living space. Get rid of anything you no longer need. Here’s the rule of thumb: If you haven’t worn it (or used it) for two years, out it goes. Donate clothing and household items that are in reasonably good condition to an organization or charity and books to your local library or hospital.

Clear out mental and emotional clutter. Allow yourself to let go of the past to make room for new things to come into your life. Commit to making decisions you’ve been putting off. Challenge limiting beliefs about yourself and about how things should be. Think positively. Recent research has shown that we can actually change the circuitry of our brains.

Start a Practice. We all are so programmed to do the same routine every day. Change the scenery, change your perspective!

Begin something brand new. Focus on Spring as a time of new beginnings and resolve to do something you’ve always wanted to do but never felt you had the time.

Spend time outdoors. Plant a garden. If you have no outdoor space, plant an herb garden in your kitchen or plant pots of flowers to bring the outside into your home.

Simplify your life. Slow down. As life moves so quickly, surrounding us with the constant stimulation of the information stream, we need to find a way to quiet our minds and make quality time for ourselves.

So what’s new this week, you ask? I am in a much better mood when I see all the new arrivals. Space 46 sent some lovely floral tops, a cami and a short sleeve and a cute little pair of shorts. Because masks are the rage, funny, but they have lowered their prices and we are passing the savings down to you! More Dreamers have arrived as well and if you have some of those amazing colors, see if any of the new colors may be of interest. We have some t-shirts by Mono B in a few colors that you can add to your wardrobe for some layering pieces. We also have some new style jeans that area wider leg and high waist. Gilli sports the jumpsuit, tiered dress and tie at the wait top. BBJ is new denim we are trying out for a very reasonable price. It’s not a skinny jean, they are more of a straight leg cut. Gen X says that skinny jeans are not “in” anymore, but we we beg to differ, we think anything goes. We have all been isolated for the past year and we think you should wear what is comfortable for you. We have every cut of jean at Meadow Boutique, with more arriving in the next few weeks.

Thank you for hanging in there with us. We love hearing how many of you have received your shots and the relief you are feeling. We are happy for you! We heard that we will be able to have 50% capacity in retail stores starting March 22! YAY! We are here when you are ready to venture out and rejoice in those Spring days ahead. Color Your World

Am I mistaken, or am I actually seeing daffodils sprouting up among the flower beds? I have spotted budding happening on some of the trees as well. The sunny days at the beginning of March was such a tease, don’t you think? It doesn’t matter really, because when we come up for air from our home offices, sunshine on our shoulders does make us happy! Signs of a new season, like Spring in all its color and growth, gives a feeling of renewal.

So many great things are happening after this years long pandemic. People are feeling like they can finally take a breath, literally! Vaccines are being given and we are looking at the world in a whole new way. People are feeling a sigh of emotional release and relief. We hear it everyday at Meadow Boutique! From where we sit, we are seeing much more appreciation for life and each other. And that my friends, is a beautiful thing.

At Meadow Boutique, we are here to color your world and inspire you to remember the colors we so enjoy about Spring. Our new arrivals this week start with MONO B. This active wear line has given us some pastel colors for our upbeat lounging and HAILEY & CO gives us the push we need to venture out to other clothing besides sweats. DOUBLE ZERO slipped in some t-shirts you might want to stock up on. Jeans are in and will always be in, so don’t throw them in the back seat. Old styles are coming back like boot cut and straight leg and dare I say bell bottoms? Shelley is ordering denim in more styles for your wearing pleasure. Spring, Please!

Spring. Spring. Where are you? New arrivals this week have hints of Spring in color and fabric. By now you must have purchased many pairs of joggers & sweat tops, mix and match or matching, tie-dyed and solid colors. We have had them all and still do. They aren’t going away, but new arrivals boast of change. All the new arrivals will be an added fashion piece to your already adorned closet!

HAPTIC gives us long sleeve t-shirts with stripes on the body, or with sleeves of lace and colorful flowers that can mix and match with any joggers you might already have in your wardrobe. Surely eye catching! PAPER CRANE has brought in some lighter fabric sweats to transition into Spring that will certainly pair with your joggers. MINE lends a lightweight jacket and an embroidered cotton top that reminds us of the 70’s. BLU PEPPER boasts a black and white flowing top with puffy sleeves and a light weight woven sweater, perfect for layering. LA MIEL brings us tops with roomy sleeves in sage and taupe that will seamlessly pair with any denim. Know that change is in the air and you will see it transform on our racks as the months move forward.

In the front of the store at our lighted table, you will find Charleston Candle Co has graced us with some lovely scents like Spanish Moss, Sunday Brunch Mimosa, Church Street, Southern Magnolia & Farmers Market. They are smaller candles in tins. Front Porch Collection with scents of Gardenia, Lavender & Hydrangea are a larger candle in a jar. Oh the wonderful scents that swirl around this table…..heavenly!

We wanted you to know that we have Girl Scout Cookies! You heard me right. Shelley’s daughter, Keira is selling them and because of COVID, the scouts are not to sell them in public for now. You are in luck, we have them at Meadow Boutique. We will take cash or a check, but they have to be paid for separately from any other purchases you might make. So what have I done? Moving Right Along

We survived the snow last weekend so now we can actually feel a little like Winter may be behind us, right? I don’t think I have seen that much snow here in Seattle for a while. It was beautiful other than the fact that the city shuts down. With all the hills we have to contend with, there is no other choice! Our Valentine dinner was cancelled so we made the best of the situation and my husband created a tasty dinner at home. Someone wrote LOVE in the snow on his car, and JOY and HAPPY on the others parked next to him. Sometimes it’s the little things that make you stop and think how lovely life can be, even if you are stranded at home because of snow. We are sorry we had to close on Saturday & Sunday, but there was no way any of us could drive up Queen Anne hill safely. I am sure you all were preoccupied with playing in the snow and Valentines Day with your loved ones.

This week we are finally seeing some color at Meadow. We have more sweats, but never fear, they are in Spring colors which totally lifts my spirits! Although sweats have been the rage, you will be seeing more Spring pieces in the weeks to come as well. We can’t help but choose those comfy cozy sweats since we are spending time at home working. We love sporting other pieces that yell Spring. We also can grab other fashion to wear as well, sometimes that’s what makes us feel a bit more normal, whatever normal seems to be these days. It truly is all about whatever you feel makes you more comfortable in your own skin. Soft fabrics will not be going away any time soon so don’t worry about that.

REFLEX sweats have arrived and we are jam packed. The racks are overflowing! The colors are bright and happy with tie-dyes and solids. Plenty of mixing and matching can happen here. We know you are probably a little tired of sweats, but at least at Meadow they don’t break the bank, ranging from $26-$30. It’s unheard of for pullover and zipper hoodies to be so affordable.

PAPER CRANE was a new arrival this week with a few lighter weight pieces that will remind us that warmer weather is on the way.

TONYA crossbody from CLAUDIA G is my pick for this week with 2 different straps included and the option to purchase more straps that are all interchangeable. It’s all here for your viewing pleasure at the front of the boutique when you walk through our doors!

Happy Day of Love!

This is after all Valentine’s Day weekend. It reminds us of the most important feeling in the world. LOVE. You feel it, you give, it, you show it, you treasure it. It is the ultimate gift and it’s lovely we set aside a day to remind us. We hope you can snuggle up with your loved ones as you pick through a box of chocolates or share a nice dinner with your significant other. The Styling Of Sweats

Upon looking back at blog last year at this time, fashion was quite different. We were posting our new arrival of dresses and skirts and cute tops and bottoms. It was a whole different world just about a year ago in what we were wearing.

Surprise, surprise that sweatpants are selling like crazy right now. I hope you read that with a healthy dose of sarcasm because it's abundantly clear that the humble sweatpant has achieved worldwide fame. In light of current events, sweatpants and joggers have become our daily staples where jeans once were. Are you wearing sweats now? If not, are you thinking about the ones you’ll slip into as soon as you can? Either way, you probably don’t need to be told that this is the year of sweats. With the coronavirus pandemic limiting many people to their homes, and certainly cutting off the need for going-out clothes, it’s no surprise that people have been reaching for a soft elastic waistband in a hard world.

Vogue Magazine says, “All sweats are loungewear, but not all loungewear are sweats. Think of loungewear as the kingdom of clothing. Sweats are defined as a loose-fitting top and pants (often worn together but still valid apart) made from a soft, stretchy material, and accented with elastic, but not entirely spandex. Leggings are something different. As a not-so-casual observer of the category, we’ve identified a few subsets that emerged this past year and will surely continue this year. None were “invented” in 2020, but all have seen a spike in popularity over the past calendar year. And surely many more to come.“

The Matching Set - The shape is generally the same—a pair of pants with a drawstring and elastic cuffs on the ankles, lending a roomy, balloon-like shape. If a sweatsuit from 2020-21 is placed in a museum one day, it will be this variety.

Tie-Dye Sweats - Whether people were actually doing it themselves or not, it was inescapable—on masks, socks, and of course on sweats. The colors are so vibrant.

The Business on Top, Party on the Bottom - You get it…. something nice and comfy on the top and well, you decide what goes on the bottom. The sweat tops these days are beyond stylish. There is always something new happening to the sleeves and waistbands.

The Return of Velour - Not only is it right on time trend-wise, but it also checks the 2021 trend boxes. Is it comfortable? Yes. Is it eye-catching? Yes. Is it nostalgic? Boy, is it ever.

The Sweats for Evening - There’s something very charming about showing up to an event in sweatpants, using them like tailored trousers or jeans. Just throw on some heels and a jacket and you’re in a fashion forward look for the evening. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, and I dare say that there was something a little edgy about wearing this look. It was really quite stylish!

Love’s In Season

Well, January is on its way out already. WOW! How did that happen? It’s been pretty quiet, as all Januarys in retail seem to be. Now we are moving into February and that’s the month of LOVE and can we get an amen? Seems like a whole lot of Love would really make us feel better - from our friends, our neighbors, our kids, our husbands, everyone we come into contact with on a daily basis and strangers too, let’s add them. It sure would be better to feel all that love all around us, rather than the alternative. So if you want to feel love, you have to be able to give it, and here’s the catch, even to the people who are not so nice, they need it more than ever…….We know this will sound cliche’, but really LOVE makes the world go round! So open your heart and spread that love you have to give. The world is in desperate need of it. Even at home, you can choose to make February an entire month of love. Think of ways to bless the special people in your lives every day.

Speaking of Love, Shelley decided to shower the boutique with lots of Love by doing some rearranging. Since you are the special people in Meadow’s life, she felt that the boutique was in need of a little refreshing to start the season of Love off right! Stop by and see how refreshed the boutique looks now. All your favorite color coordinated pieces are still there but, perhaps in a different place. We know you will enjoy the change!

Our new arrivals are full of Love this week with splashes of color and cozy, warm fabrics. We can’t help but Love how sweatshirts have taken on a whole new look. They aren’t just plain Jane sweatshirts anymore. Lighter and brighter, you must have a look! There are ombre colored and some tie-dyed and with details that are very interesting. Words of Love are written on some of them like “Wild and Free” and “Hello Beautiful.” We also have a new style of overalls that pairs nicely with our new henley tops. Chris and Carol tops are back in stock and will definitely pull at your heart strings. We are still getting in some light sweaters with the full sleeves, so much character, if I may say so myself. We also received a delivery of Love masks with some new colors and patterns for adults and kids. Since self Love is so important, you might as well pick up a few. Spring Dreams

As I sit here writing this blog, I find myself dreaming of Springtime in Seattle. Those exquisite pastel colors you see in the flowers at Pike Place Market. It feels like I have come alive when I see them displayed and ready for one to take home. I love doing this blog and sharing all the fashion that Shelley purchases. Although it happens rarely with shipping, sometimes the new arrivals don’t get here on time for the blog. This is one of those weeks, we are sorry to say. Next week will be jammed packed with photos of new arrivals! We promise! Until then, don’t hesitate to stop by and see if there is some fashion piece you need to brighten your day. It’s time to crawl out of that heavy weight we have been carrying for the past 10 months and give our lives some meaning. Times are changing and we can only hope it will be for the better. In saying that, does your wardrobe reflect how you are feeling right now?

“The way we dress has a correlation with our emotional state,” says Elizabeth Beecroft, an LMSW based in New York. “If we’re looking a bit crusty, in the same outfit we’ve worn the last few days, that has an impact on how we feel either in general or about ourselves.” We’re currently in a time where we may feel isolated, less connected, and alone. “It could become really easy to not have the motivation to want to get out of our pajamas or just simply due to being in the comfort of our living room not feeling it’s necessary.”

When we take time in the morning to shower and put on clean clothes (yes, comfy clothes are included) we tend to feel more put-together, confident, and ready to take on the day. And this can help us show up better in life and be more focused, even from the comfort of the couch. Putting on an outfit in the morning releases neurotransmitters in our brains including dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and endorphins, sparking a sense of purpose. These chemicals naturally boost our mental state, which is necessary during tough times.

Create a daily schedule of how you'll spend your time. Set your alarm and wake up at the same time every day (except weekends) and get your body moving. Either exercise first thing in the morning then get showered and dressed or head straight to getting ready for the day before you pick up any technology or turning on the news. For those working from home, a routine can help people separate their “home life” from their “work life.”

There’s also an opportunity to have some fun with your style. Try new outfits you normally wouldn’t wear (no one will see anyway!), be silly, be bold. Make it fun for yourself and something to look forward to. If you’re feeling uninspired with your wardrobe try identifying one piece you're into and building off of that. There are no rules, especially in the confines of one's home. And for those WFH video conferences... keep it business up top and party down low. Nobody has to know. What better time than now to try something new? We've just set out on an ambitious quest to elevate our sweatpants.

Simple But Fashionable

It’s pretty simple these days in the world of fashion, for sure. With people working at home and not going out much, our clothes have become quite easy to wear and well, pretty casual. The casual wear now has us longing for the days when we had the opportunity to dress up for something….anything. I believe it is truly a state of mind when it comes to what we are going to wear for the day. The question is what can we wear that is simple, but still makes us feel better all over.

This is what Who What Wear has to say about these comfy times. When you’re ready to shop in 2021, here are some fashion pieces you might want to pick up for yourself, all in the spirit of keeping it simple! Meadow seems to be right in line with these trends!

1. Comfortable footwear is key, and that's why a cushy clog is at the top of the list. The silhouette is trend-forward and will make for a great house shoe option. (Meadow has some comfy slip-ons)

2. Tailoring for 2021 gets even more relaxed. The idea of a fresh oversize blazer to enhance my WFH (working from home) vibes when you need to be more dressed up for Zoom meetings feels so right. (Meadow has 2 blazers that came in this week in black and winter white)

3. While we personally wear skinny jeans on the regular (often darker washes), those light-wash styles in loose cuts feel incredibly modern. (Meadow has some great skinny looks by Kan Kan and Vervet as well as loose cuts and bell bottom jeans)

4. Faux-leather separates will continue to increase in popularity in 2021 as a simple way to elevate any look. we love the idea of faux-leather trousers with a trendy basic like a sweater vest. (Meadow has some black faux leather snake skin leggings that are quite stylish)

5. In terms of outerwear, you can't beat a stylish puffer coat. We’re especially loving those styles in neutral hues. (Meadow has 2 puffer coats in the boutique right now - navy and winter white)

Gray Days Change To Color At Meadow

Rain, Rain go away - come again an other day! It’s Winter in Seattle, although our temperatures are pretty mild, we have rain at this time of year, well, with some sun breaks now and then. The days are gray and oh so wet. We have to force ourselves to go out and live our lives and make the best of these kinds of days. Arghhh. In the past, this is the time we would be thinking about taking a little Winter break to Hawaii or someplace warmer and sunnier to break up the next few months in Seattle. Now we are staying put while we have the promise of a vaccine in our future. I am certain that 2021 will get better as the year goes on. We can do this - we are in this together! We always have been, as we know from experience we are constantly being tested. The spirit of the Queen Anne community has given us hope and that is good enough for us right now.

Meadow Boutique looks out the window and sees gray too, but we are optimistic with all the colors we have inside. Beautiful hues of warmth, but brighter and kinder. We still have pieces to keep you warm and cozy through this transitional time. You will be happy with what you find here. Sweaters are a little bit lighter in color and texture. Makes us feel like there will be a Spring at some point, so why not have a few colors that make us feel better all over! I was feeling it the other day at Meadow with the door open on a 52 degree day. Such a tease with our weather patterns!

This week we have some delightful colors of some lighter weight sweaters from Allie Rose and some sweatshirts and sweatpants sets from Reflex. The sweaters have great textured lines and one has curly-cue ribbing on the sleeves and buttons in the back. Oh how we love this unique piece. Sweats have been a staple in our closets since last March. They are warm and cozy and some are even spiffy enough for a Zoom meeting. The colors are not your basic grays anymore. They are mustard and cocoa and brick and army green and sea blue. Love the names. The sweatpants are different styles which can suit anyone’s taste. Happy New Year to You!

The end of 2020 has come and gone, and for most of us, the festivities looked quite a bit different than they had before. You’ve heard the advice: Lose 25 pounds. Improve your relationship with your mother. Give up sugar and wrap your ankle behind your head in yoga class. While these are all laudable goals, they’re pretty ambitious. Reaching too high (especially in a pandemic!) can set you up for disappointment, ensuring that any resolutions will be toast. Let’s not go there. There are lots of small, simple things you can do to make a big impact on your overall health and preserve your peace of mind no matter what 2021 looks like.

First things first. YOU! Don’t forget to take care of YOU. Taking care of you in 2021 needs to be at the top of your list! Most of us know that we should be practicing self-care, but when it comes to implementing it into our daily lives we struggle. While you may be juggling several priorities at once, it often leads to leaving your own needs at the bottom of your to-do list. Sure, your once-in-a-blue-moon social outings, salon appointments, and gym sessions might be considered self-care, but at its core self-care is about regular activities that help you recharge and make you feel good. If you’re not making time for daily self-care, you’re more likely to feel stressed, unfulfilled and overwhelmed. Becoming the best version of yourself involves taking care of your mind, body, and soul. When you take care of yourself, you give yourself the fuel you need to show up as the best version of yourself in your everyday life.

Happy Holidays!

By the time you receive this blog post it will be December 25. Hopefully your morning will be full of love and excitement if St. Nick is someone who visited your home. We believe that the time spent with your family this year will be very special, no matter how you celebrate. We honor your beliefs as we have always honored you, our customer. This year has been full of ups and downs and we have taken that ride together. Just when we thought the year was taking forever to get through, well, here we are in its final days.

We cannot begin to express the gratitude we have felt this week by you all supporting Meadow Boutique. You made a point to shop local. You asked others to shop with us. Our gift cards were on your list. And even your husbands were sent in to find that special gift. Your significant other expressed that their wives loved Meadow Boutique and they were going to buy something here. We hope now, after they have visited the boutique, that they understand why. We heard over and over again that they loved our prices. This is great for all of you ladies that love to shop with us. We have a sneaking suspicion that they will never question your purchases with us again! Oh Joy!

We hope that all your gift giving was successful and well received. If for some reason the gifts you purchased are not the right size, color, etc, you may return with an exchange or store credit 2 weeks post Christmas. The credit never expires. The items on the SALE rack are final sale. We have new items coming in every week, so we are sure you will find something that will make you happy. Let us help you find something that compliments you, your personality and your body type. That is so much fun for us!

As we move closer to the end of the year, we wish all the best to you and your families. We hope the New Year will bring a new sense of purpose for us all. There will be a new leader, a new vaccine and a New Year with endless possibilities for each of us that will hopefully start making things more tolerable. Will things ever be the same? Nope, not a chance, but what we all have learned from 2020 is extraordinary. We have learned new ways for everything we do in our daily lives, and we have done it together.

The only days we are closed are Christmas and New Years Day. We are here for you and we will always be, you can count on us through thick and thin. Thank you again for being there for us and helping us to stay afloat during some challenging times. We are truly moved by your generosity.
