Weekend Finds at Meadow

How is everyone doing? Can you believe this beautiful weather we are having? I was recently in eastern Washington for the 4th of July, and it was so hot. Coming back to Seattle with the temperatures in the upper 70’s was certainly a reprieve! I have already forgotten how hot it was last week. I heard all of the hotels in Seattle were booked for 3 days because of the lack of air-conditioning in homes. My mom’s place was built in the 70’s, and at that time Seattle didn’t need air conditioning, so her house was stifling hot. We managed to give her our portable air conditioner to cool things off. Phew! We hope you and your loved ones were able to find a nice, cool place during those really hot days. Thank goodness we don’t get many days like that very often, right? If I wanted to be that hot I would live in Arizona…….not!

It really has been wonderful to see all of coming into Meadow with excitement. Some of you are just ready to buy new things, go on trips, live without the mask. It’s like our customers have a whole new lease on life. It feels so good to see your lovely faces, smiling, yes, smiling and happy. And oh, those lipstick colors you are wearing, you have really ventured out! It’s the little things we often took for granted, and now, well, we have rearranged our priorities. The things we thought were little things in life are big and the things we thought were a big deal, are not so much to worry about anymore. It’s really amazing to see how this pandemic has changed our perspective on our own lives. We have a new “norm” and that’s OK. We are all in this together, right, we have recited this phrase for the past 18 months and it still feels good to say it and to know it!

What’s new this week? More fashion so you can stay cool this Summer!

COMUNE brings in tank and t-shirts that you can pair with your shorts or cut-offs or jeans.

MONO B sports some work-out clothing that you can sweat it out and then go to the grocery if you want and still look good.

GILLI of course comes through again with a couple of rompers and another sweet jumpsuit! Flattering for sure, everything GILLI designs!

DAVI & DANI has a couple of super fun tops. One ties i n front and the other hangs lose and flows. Love them both.

IN LOOM with a hot pink dress and a lovely embroidered top. If you don’t have a hot pink something in your wardrobe, now is the time to get it! The top has embroidery on the front and back…divine!

ANEMONE has a variety of colors in sports bras and more intimate kinds with lace designs, depending on what the occasion might be. Oh-la-la

There’s some barrettes we have that are so much fun. I would certainly wear them and am planning on buying them. Fruits are in one of the sets and glittery daisies on the other. OMG so cute. You can find them in the little girl section but I say big girls can wear them too! You will see them on some of the photos. A steal at $5, are you kidding me? I will take one of each, please.

You can rest assured you want see a look-alike at a gathering, unless of course you have told your friends to buy the same thing you did. Needless to say, we have seen that happen!

Our Independence Day

There are so many reasons that the word Independence rings true with us, especially this year.  June 30, Seattle fully opened after a year and a half of the COVID pandemic and wearing masks to protect each other. In previous years, the Fourth of July meant its time for all manners of Seattle backyard barbecues, cooling dips at local swimming holes and of course, dazzling fireworks shows.  This year we can watch fireworks outside the city limits and you can click here to see the list of where you can find these incredible fireworks displays if you so desire to venture out this holiday. It’s nice to be getting back to what real life was for us and to have a chance to celebrate our freedoms together. We survived - we are still here! Let Freedom Ring!

Another way we are able to show our  independence is by shedding our masks. There will be places we certainly must keep wearing them, but if you are vaccinated, it's acceptable. Meadow Boutique is helping you initiate your independence by removing your mask with some delightful lip colors to enhance that beautiful smile we haven’t seen in a year and a half out in public. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces. Grab some lip color in amazing hues with lipgloss or lipstick and give us the biggest cheese you can possibly muster up!

What’s new this week?

We have, by popular demand, some more shorts by RISEN in a slate color and some denim cutoffs as well with a distressed look. We still have many Bermuda shorts by TEA & ROSE that are a longer length to the knee. We received some straight leg denim capris by RISEN and some crop denim by KAN KAN. The RISEN capris sold out in 2 days when we got them in a few weeks ago. They are not skinny, worth a try, just sayin.’ Both are quite stylish and flattering if you want to know the truth. I bought the RISEN denim first time they came in and L-O-V-E them.

We are very happy with the knotted tees and tanks from EMMA’S CLOSET.  This is a new line for us and we are happy we tried them out.  The colors are perfect for Summer into Fall and the fabrics are Lucious. Did I say Luscious. Yes, I did.

BE COOL has 2 light-weight short sweaters in a vibrant coral and royal blue.  Perfect for throwing over the shoulders on a cool evening with any of your dresses or tanks. It’s nice we still get some cool evenings after we recovered from the 106 temps.  We always need a denim shirt in our wardrobe. It is definitely a staple piece and we have more for your fashion pleasure.

KORI Dresses are on the top of my list. I bought the blue one from a past order and now there is an olive green with a different print. DIBS! Mine. The style is so flattering and it flows in the wind and the fabric keeps me cool as a cucumber. I can’t help myself.  This label has come out with some really great dresses for the season.

GILLI has another 5 star dress - always lovely, always flattering. They just know how to make a woman look good, right? Everything from rompers, to jumpsuits to dresses, they are simply award winning for our customers. If you own GILLI pieces, you know exactly what I mean. This week we have a white boho top from GILLI as well. Check it!

EJ CLAY CO brought in some unique earrings with vivid colors and styles. You need to check them out.  Earrings can really make an outfit pop!  Emily Gallardo is the owner of EJ Clay Co. She is a wife/mother of a crazy toddler. Emily started this company in the middle of Covid and it helped distract her from the anxiety of the pandemic. From there, her passion took over and EJ Clay Co. formed!

Summer Coolers

It’s here - it’s hot - it’s sunny! Summer. It is so beautiful in Seattle at this time of year. This week we have a little of this and that to add to your wardrobe for Summer. We hear it will be 100 degrees in the coming days. It will be hotter here than in Miami. OMG! Yikes! That is really hot for Seattle, so stop by and find some cool pieces at Meadow that won’t have you break into a sweat. Seriously, either dress cool or find some water nearby to dip those toes in to cool off. And by all means hydrate, have a jug of water with you at all times because with these high temperatures there is a dehydration danger…… we are just looking out for you! Here we are at the end of June already. It’s Summer! Can you believe it? We love seeing people getting out, planning trips and getting ready to shed their masks. We have chatted with lots of women this week that are planning to go somewhere fun and feel like they need to toss aside those comfy clothes with the hopes of wearing some fashionable jeans again. We love it and we are all feeling the need to break out and have normal gatherings again! We can get close to friends and family and engage in hugging each other again. Seems like we will never, ever take those moments we can have with each other for granted, ever again, right? We are so grateful to have each other through all of this. Somedays it feels like a bad dream, and other days the hope that exudes from us all is invigorating. We keep living, we keep loving, we keep hoping for all of us to find a new normal and resume to a life, albeit a new way of life. We wish you all to feel some sort of cool breeze in the days to come. Summer & Fathers. The Best!

Summer is here June 20th, and along with it, a pretty important day for all the Dads out there. You guessed it: We're talking about Father's Day. Although most sons and daughters don't need a specific date to celebrate the most important man in their life, every Dad in the country does get his special day on the calendar. With restrictions lifting in many states, you may be able to meet in person this year. But if you're not able to dine together, you should still celebrate!

There are so many different ways to celebrate your dad on Father's Day. Picking out the perfect Father's Day gift and writing a sweet message in his card may be a given, but it's also important to make sure that your dad's special day is full of activities that'll bring him even closer to the people he loves most: his kids. Really, if you were to ask him, quality time is the best gift you can give your Dad.

Stop by Meadow Boutique and pick up something nice to wear when you meet up with Dad for Father’s Day! You will be glad you did. If you haven’t seen your Dad in a while, it will feel good to break out of those casual work at home clothes and put on something lovely for him. LA MEIL has 2 pairs of lightweight pants in white and black. Wide leg and sassy, reminds of the days when I was young. Everything always comes back around with a little different twist. OH how I wish I had all my bell bottoms back…..

Tea & Rose (TNR) has what many of us have been waiting for - bermuda denim shorts. You heard me right, so fashionable! Super cute and stretchy too. These are a “must try” when you come in. They have a button fly and are a little distressed, you will like them!

And a few pieces more with HYFVE having a long tie dye t-shirt. This is a shirt of many colors and one you can wear as a swim suit cover-up, dress or even night shirt. So many ways to wear this. Love! MISS LOVE has one of the softest tank tops ever. Again, it can be worn from day to nighty night time. No kidding.

No matter what you do for Father’s Day this year, we all have to admit it feels so much better than last year. In 2021, we have hope for better days and from where we sit, things are looking pretty good for all of us. So strange how it feels we have come out of a deep sleep, with new discoveries about ourselves, new ways to live, laugh and love. We thank you for sharing your space and time with us, because we know many of you are just feeling comfortable enough to go into a store. Dressing Up For June

Before you know it, June 20th will be here and it will be the first day of Summer. We can’t wait to be warm again. It’s still a little cool out, but we are optimistic since we have seen a couple of 80 degree days out of no where. We love Seattle, but sometimes we wish it could just be a little warmer right now because we have so many fun things to wear. The past few weeks, Meadow has really outdone itself with all the fun fashions that have come through the door.

Welcome June!

The Summer months are finally in site. The past few days have been hot. It’s seems to be like that in Seattle. It’s raining and coolness is in the air and then all of a sudden it’s hot! Then Summer is here and we relish in the days of warmth and sunshine. No one appreciates the sunshine more than the people who live in Seattle. We do everything we can to be out in it. Vitamin D becomes our goal for the Summer. The climate in Seattle during June can be summarized as mild and reasonably dry. June is in the summer in Seattle and is typically the 3rd warmest month of the year.

What’s happening at Meadow Boutiques this week? Lots of great pieces that will take you all the way thru Summer.

GILLI is here in a big way with super cute dresses and jumpsuits that are a flared crop. Love. Love. Love. The colors are amazing and after trying them all on, I was surprised how vibrant they looked! Colors I never thought would look good on me, well, they did. So I say venture out from black, I know, I know, that is a difficult feat, but just give it a try and see what you think. After the past year, we need color in our life!

LE MIEL, LE LIS, & SPACE 46 all have great little tanks in all styles and the perfect colors that will pair up nicely with shorts or jeans. Some are cropped, others are not. You get to chose!

ANEMONE Bralettes, so lovely and feminine. Beautiful crochet scalloped edge lace bralettes, pull over styles, long lines, all day comfort. Removable bra pads, criss-cross straps at back, the straps have a silver detailing and are adjustable with the perfect amount of stretch. Comfortable enough to wear around the house on these warm days and feel cool as a cucumber.

MONO B has an 80’s style jean jacket. It’s fun and funky and it is a nice change from the run of the mill jean jacket we have been wearing.

LOVE VINTAGE has 2 v-neck distressed tees in navy and banana color. Yes, I said banana, because it is that kind of yellow. It seems this yellow is much easier to wear than other yellows. Both are a loose fit and lightweight.

POISON MUSHROOM wide leg jeans. I am just like most of you, not sure about wide legs, but hey, I am game to try because I wore this style in the 60’s and 70’s. They have to to look good and they have to be flattering. Were they ever or we were young and didn’t care? We will be getting a variety of wide legs in the coming weeks. Ease yourself into it, that’s the only way. What’s the worse thing that could happen? You go back to the skinnies that are piled high in your closet. Sigh…….

Memorial Weekend Arrivals 2021

Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. In other words, the purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. In remembering the fallen, we also honor their loved ones: spouses, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, friends. There really aren’t proper words, but we do live in gratitude each and every day for the precious gift that they have given to us. We should reflect on their service and why we have the luxury and freedom that we enjoy today. We might consider a way we can support and safeguard their grieving families and loved ones who are left behind.

Despite the increasing celebration of the holiday as a summer rite of passage, there are some formal rituals still on the books: The American flag should be hung at half-staff until noon on Memorial Day, then raised to the top of the staff. And since 2000, when the U.S. Congress passed legislation, all Americans are encouraged to pause for a National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. local time.

We are still in a pandemic, but with roughly half of all Washington adults (16 +) fully vaccinated against COVID-19, things are approaching some sense of ordinariness - and that includes a lot of rubber tires on roads and feet standing in TSA security lines this Memorial Weekend.

We are all waking up from a very long hibernation. One we certainly didn’t plan on, but hey, we are still here. We are getting out of our homes and gathering again. Shopping again. Meeting friends again. It feels good, doesn’t it? I don’t think we need to be told to stop and smell the roses anymore, we know and acknowledge the importance of living our best life. In 2021, Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 9. A day to honor mothers has existed for as long as, well, there have been mothers. How can we give extra recognition to moms, especially if we’re apart? Mother’s Day celebrates motherhood and is a day to make an extra-special effort to recognize and appreciate mothers’ roles in our lives. Often this day is extended to generations of mothers—grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers—as well as to mother figures. I say we give moms everywhere the whole month! They have proven to be resilient and loving for their family in the past year. Clap. Clap. Clap. Hug. Hug. Hug. No words.

10 WAYS TO CELEBRATE MOM

The past year’s been a challenge. Many of us are rethinking how to give extra recognition to moms. Some of us are apart from our moms when we’d normally be together. How can we celebrate differently? Most moms simply wish to connect with their children and spend time with family in any way possible—if not in person, then with a phone call or video chat! So You Feel Like Traveling?

Many Americans are thinking of travel again. We all have the itch to travel after this past year of being homebound. And who can blame us? After all, it’s been more than a year of seesawing coronavirus infection rates, on-again, off-again lockdown restrictions, and simple quarantine fatigue. How many of you haven’t seen your loved ones or even hugged them? How many of you have been dreaming of going to a tropical island and just laying in the sun with your favorite book in hand? We have missed those precious moments and have vowed never to take them for granted again. It’s the little things that we have been doing and never thinking twice about it. Now it seems we have to, lessons we have all learned. Wherever the road may take you, make sure you pack with intention. Masks and sanitizer are still a priority even though we may have been vaccinated. We just want you to stay safe no matter if you fly or ride. Remember that everyone has their own comfort level and being respectful of each other takes a lot of the anxiety away. Once again, “We Are All In This Together” now and forever. CELLO has some really fashion forward pants, high waisted, cut off at the bottom and a color that will know your socks off. Check them in the photos below.

BLACK LABEL sports some new high waisted, button fly, boot cut denim. These are very stylish. We have so many different kinds of jeans right now and they seem to be flying out the door. Hmmm, it must mean those jogger sweats are getting a little old, am I right? Are they dumped in a pile in your closet somewhere?

GILLI is known for their dresses and they never disappoint. This week we have a short green spunky dress and a sleek, slim striped dress. The striped dress is truly a body hugger and the green dress makes you want to skip to your favorite coffee joint. Both dresses will definitely make you want to be seen!

STACATTO adorns 2 floral tee-shirts with a variety of rich spring colors. They really are so colorful and will pair nicely with shorts or jeans. The v-neck and round neck of these tops are very flattering. Both of these tees would go nicely with the CELLO pants I told you about above.

SUNLILLY Roll & Go Sun Hats are perfect for travel and easily rolled up and packed neatly in your bag. Great color patterns and the brim is wide enough to keep the sun from scorching that beautiful face and neck of yours.

SCARVES of every lovely color you might think of that will match your Spring wardrobe. I love these scarves! The patterns remind me of traveling to southeast Asia. Rich in color and patterns. They are soft and light as a scarf and big enough for a wrap! Love. Love Love. You have to see these up close and personal. They have cute little tassels for added detail. One customer family took a 8 week RV trip though different states with 4 kids, others are going to Hawaii, weddings are commencing with small gatherings, while some of you are just getting together with others that have been vaccinated so you can move about more freely and hug and whisper sweet nothings in each others ears. There is nothing better than “Human Connection.” So often in the past we might have felt that it wasn’t that important or maybe we took it for granted, but now we know just how important it actually is to us.

Like at Meadow Boutique, we know that we couldn’t have weathered the storm without you. We know that we cherish your funny stories and sharing a laugh or a cry, whatever the case may be. Seattle’S Sunny Days

We cannot help but love these past few weeks of sun. We know the rain is around the corner but Seattleites are a lot more appreciative of the sun than any other state! We let the sun in the Boutique every chance we get, by opening the door to the outside. That feeling of the sun’s rays makes us warm all over. I have said it before and I will say it again, Seattle is the most beautiful place when the sun comes out. I say this because I have travelled the globe and been to many beautiful places. The sky is so blue here and the trees are so green. This beautiful site cannot be viewed everywhere in the world. Gratitude comes to mind. Breathtaking!

Earth Day Tees

Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues, and Earth Day 2021 will occur on Thursday, April 22—the holiday's 51st anniversary. The holiday is now a global celebration that’s sometimes extended into Earth Week, a full seven days of events focused on green living. The brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson and inspired by the protests of the 1960s, Earth Day began as a “national teach-in on the environment” and was held on April 22 to maximize the number of students that could be reached on university campuses. By raising public awareness of pollution, Nelson hoped to bring environmental causes into the national spotlight.

My Birth Day is Earth Day and I am so happy about that, you have no idea! Every year I throw on my favorite tee and hiking gear to head up to a secluded place in Nature. I have to say, that the past year has lead me there over and over again. When times were tough and I felt disconnected, I would venture into the woods on a hike and find comfort. I have so much gratitude for this beautiful Earth and we all should do our part to keep it into existence. It’s truly as simple as just planting a tree or some flowers so the earth can exude the colors of the season. What can you do this Earth Day to show love for our environment? All it takes is a conscious effort to make things happen and create change. Here are 10 simple ways:

1. Clean up a local beach.

2. Plant a garden at your home or school.

3. Scan your neighborhood for litter.

4. Sign an environmental action petition.

5. Start a conversation.

6. Help restore bird habitats.

7. Buy a reusable water bottle.

8. Plant a tree.

9. Clean vacant lots in the community.

10. Unplug and spend time outside.

April Showers. May Flowers!

How many times have you heard the phrase, “April showers bring May flowers?” It’s true. We know that for sure by living here in Seattle. It’s so green and lush and flowers and cherry trees are already blooming. This is truly our favorite time of year. This morning when I came to work, there was a little bouquet of flowers and a pine cone sitting at the front door entrance. It was so sweet. I wonder who took the time to do it? Whoever you are, thank you, it has made my day! Spring is definitely in the air and kindness seems to be too. When kind acts appear like this one, you remember that we all need to feel special no matter how it appears in our lives. Ahhh Spring, it brings out the best in all of us!

What’s in store for this weeks new arrivals? I can honestly say a little of this and a little of that.

GILLI has 2 new Spring dresses, one very floral and the other a nice patterned print in denim blue and white.

CHRIS & CAROL is the mainstay this week with cap-sleeve longer tees and some light cardigans. They have also thrown in a polka-dot black and white polka-dot dress that’s a non-wrinkle fabric with a wrap front. I love the long sleeve striped pullover top with a hood. So soft and cozy. This top pairs well with your joggers (if they are still laying about) or for sure your jeans!

ENDLESS BLU adorns us with a very Springy dress in a green pattern. There’s a really fun light grey hoody cardigan made out of sweatshirt material. Perfect for those workout days or just lounging around. It’s a perfect “throw on” garment. Really stylish! My closet is ready for any of these pieces this week - there are some nice dresses to add to your wardrobe and some basic styles too.

SHOES - We have 2 new pairs of slip-ons to add to your repertoire. Braided black slip-ons by TOP MODA and an animal print style from SODA.

Is It Really April?

Here we are - April is here and we can feel it in the air. The beautiful sunny days we have been experiencing here in the Northwest have surely boosted our mood. We opened our doors at the Boutique the other day because we just needed that fresh air feeling inside! And what do you think happens? You are all walking by with friends and dogs and husbands enjoying the day and soaking it all in!  And lo and behold, you take the time to come in and say hello and see how we are doing! You are looking for some hip jeans now you have seen on Instagram! YAY! We have had that talk about sweats, remember? LOL! You are finding all the amazing tops we have with beautiful Spring colors. We love that! We enjoy seeing you and giving your dog treats and catching up, because this past year in our lives have given us a lot to talk about. We will do everything we can to continue to keep us all safe by steaming our garments after try-ons and new arrivals. OK, I am going to say it again - Repeat after me………We are all in this together!

Let’s get down to talking about our new arrivals. We are still in the in-between stage where rain is still in the forecast and it’s a little chilly in the evenings. Meadow Boutique is going to take care of you till that sun keeps on shining!

RISEN Denim has a new style coming in at $48. It’s that frayed cut bottoms in a dark wash. Love. Love. Love. If you are ready for some shorts, we got those in too! You might as well stock up, because you know you will want them soon.

BBJ Los Angeles Denim has some true wider boyfriend cuts, distressed and dark wash. I tried these on and really liked them. A steal at $35.

ORANGE CREEK with a simple short sleeve top and a maxi polka-dot dress. Both so fashionable and ready for Spring!

E & M has a beautiful linen top with crocheted sleeves, quite intricate in design. The jacket is a navy blue with stripes inside the hood. Puts me in a sailing trip mood. The leggings are heavier weight with a button front that is easy to throw in a travel bag. Hint. Hint.

BLU PEPPER is all about sleeveless dresses in a short and long version. That baby blue color is so soothing. The jacket is a beige hue with the option to roll up the sleeves and show off the stripes in beige and brown.

DAY TO DAY This jacket is so cozy and perfect for the Spring evenings or walking around town.

GILLI threw in a versatile top with a navy pattern that will pair nicely with our denim or lightweight jackets we have this week.

Lastly but not least, there are some luscious fragranced candles by TRIED & TRUE and I bought 4 of the different fragrances. They smell delicious!

In Full Swing For Spring

Well, Spring is finally here! March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, isn’t that the saying? The end of the coronavirus pandemic is on the horizon at last, but the timeline for actually getting there feels like it shifts daily, with updates about viral variants, vaccine logistics, and other important variables seeming to push back the finish line or scoot it forward. When will we be able to finally live our lives again? Pandemics are hard to predict accurately, but we have enough information to make some confident guesses. A useful way to think about what’s ahead is to go season by season. For the most part, daily life will continue to be far from normal for the next few months. Normal is of course a slippery word, given that many Americans have had to report to work or have chosen to dine out, travel, and do all sorts of things that others have avoided. We have to live our lives as we see fit.

It seems with more and more people getting the vaccine, they are venturing out and can breathe a little easier. We can tell you that the customers this past week have been feeling more hope and joy for the days ahead. They want to get out in the world, go to one of their favorite restaurants, purchase a spring wardrobe, take a little trip. Kids are finally going back to school, albeit baby steps. We have seen moms coming in to buy school clothes for their daughters for the first time in over a year. I witnessed it yesterday and it seemed like such fun for them both. Daughters are willing to venture out and try new fashion and moms giving the green light to do so! Everyone seems to be feeling better about the future and what better time to brighten up or add to that wardrobe, than Spring! Meadow Boutique has got you covered. It’s time to spruce up that closet even though some days it feels like the rain will not stop, but then the sun comes out and it gets warmer and we are ready to call it Spring. The flowers are blooming and there is color everywhere. It’s exhilarating!

We are in Full Swing for Spring at Meadow! The Boutique is seeing the change on the racks and we love it! it put a spring in our step, that's for sure. Here’s what’s in store for you this week:

Hayden has brought us looks that I remember well from the 60’s & 70’s. I know, I know, I am dating myself but the tops and dresses in those days were so feminine. Hayden has brought those looks back with some lovely subtle Spring patterns as well as light denim joggers. We know you will love them.

Gilli brings us some new dresses, and oh how we love to see dresses on our racks again! Don’t say you have no where to wear a dress. Dresses are worn with tennies these days and can be dressed up or down in a moments notice.

Tea & Rose has a denim with that more relaxed look we are seeing now and they are cut off at the bottom. They will look great with your tennies now or sandals moving forward into Summer. The price point is a relief for the budget as well, at only $48. There are now no jeans in Meadow over $64. Can you believe it?

Love Tree has really outdone themselves with a super cute distressed longer denim jacket and light weight wide leg capris. That denim jacket is super stylish and the distress is in all the perfect places. I picked up one for myself and plan to style it with just about anything in my closet. It is a very versatile piece.

Ces Femme has a few delightful staple tops in a solid and stripe that will look great with the denim style you are gallivanting about town in. The fabric is nice and light for those warmer days ahead of us.

You will see a couple of woven handbags in the photos, but keep in mind there are only 2, so get them while the getting is good! Out with the old and in with the new.

Daylight Savings at Meadow

We have happily eased into daylight savings time, which means there are more hours of daylight to shop at your neighborhood boutique, Meadow. We believe that shopping here is saving you money because of our unbelievable prices and not only that, we know you and are happy to see you when you visit. It is so nice to have longer days as it feels like we are all waking up. Maybe you feel tired, unmotivated, or unproductive — and that's okay! Nobody can give 100% all the time; we're human and we all experience "off" days. Just make sure to take care of yourself so you can wake up tomorrow refreshed and ready to meet the day! There is nothing like the sun shining in Seattle. It is glorious!

Let’s have a heart-to-heart. It’s time to put your sweats and joggers aside and think about what you would like to be wearing for Spring. We know it will be hard, but next week we will be at 50% capacity, so it’s time to venture out and see how we can start living again according to the season. We are ready for you and eager to see those of you we haven’t seen for a while. Remember the old days when we were excited for Spring and we couldn’t wait to buy some new clothes? Well, these are the new days and we can still feel that way. I am cleaning out the pieces I haven’t worn for a while and purchasing some Spring pieces. I don’t have time to shop right now, said nobody ever!

There are some lovely Spring pieces that arrived this week. We promised they would. Les Amis sent some tops with thrills and frills on the sleeves. They pair well with any denim you may have or throw on a cardigan or jacket for cooler days. The colors are so light and bright. 2 Hearts brings 2 stylish dresses, one being Jackie-Oish and the other just fun and frilly in denim. Ces Femme is my pick with a dress peasant type dress I wore in the 70’s and also an eyelet sleeveless top. Love both of these pieces. Active USA sports a couple of floral tops in pink and black.Vervet Denim has some really fun styles you might like to try. All 3 styles are not skinny, they are more boyfriend style with very high waist. In the photos below, we are only showing the Vervet styles. Now you have the full scope of the new arrivals! We hope there is a piece you will “just have to have!”

Meadow Mood Boosters

Have you been eyeing the clothes in your closet for Spring? We certainly have! This is the time to clean out what you are tired of and replenish with some new Spring colors! This is the time of the year to change your mood. Although we still have a little ways to go to really enjoy the warmth and light that Spring will bring, we can begin to think about what we can do to renew ourselves and to better balance our lives. The sun is shining more, the days are getting longer and people on the street seem to be smiling under those masks! We have to say, it just seems easier to breathe.

What better time than Spring to re-group and re-prioritize, and even re-invent ourselves, and the lives we find ourselves living. Here are some Spring “rituals” to boost your mood from Psychology Today.

De-clutter your living space. Get rid of anything you no longer need. Here’s the rule of thumb: If you haven’t worn it (or used it) for two years, out it goes. Donate clothing and household items that are in reasonably good condition to an organization or charity and books to your local library or hospital.

Clear out mental and emotional clutter. Allow yourself to let go of the past to make room for new things to come into your life. Commit to making decisions you’ve been putting off. Challenge limiting beliefs about yourself and about how things should be. Think positively. Recent research has shown that we can actually change the circuitry of our brains.

Start a Practice. We all are so programmed to do the same routine every day. Change the scenery, change your perspective!

Begin something brand new. Focus on Spring as a time of new beginnings and resolve to do something you’ve always wanted to do but never felt you had the time.

Spend time outdoors. Plant a garden. If you have no outdoor space, plant an herb garden in your kitchen or plant pots of flowers to bring the outside into your home.

Simplify your life. Slow down. As life moves so quickly, surrounding us with the constant stimulation of the information stream, we need to find a way to quiet our minds and make quality time for ourselves.

So what’s new this week, you ask? I am in a much better mood when I see all the new arrivals. Space 46 sent some lovely floral tops, a cami and a short sleeve and a cute little pair of shorts. Because masks are the rage, funny, but they have lowered their prices and we are passing the savings down to you! More Dreamers have arrived as well and if you have some of those amazing colors, see if any of the new colors may be of interest. We have some t-shirts by Mono B in a few colors that you can add to your wardrobe for some layering pieces. We also have some new style jeans that area wider leg and high waist. Gilli sports the jumpsuit, tiered dress and tie at the wait top. BBJ is new denim we are trying out for a very reasonable price. It’s not a skinny jean, they are more of a straight leg cut. Gen X says that skinny jeans are not “in” anymore, but we we beg to differ, we think anything goes. We have all been isolated for the past year and we think you should wear what is comfortable for you. We have every cut of jean at Meadow Boutique, with more arriving in the next few weeks.

Thank you for hanging in there with us. We love hearing how many of you have received your shots and the relief you are feeling. We are happy for you! We heard that we will be able to have 50% capacity in retail stores starting March 22! YAY! We are here when you are ready to venture out and rejoice in those Spring days ahead. Color Your World

Am I mistaken, or am I actually seeing daffodils sprouting up among the flower beds? I have spotted budding happening on some of the trees as well. The sunny days at the beginning of March was such a tease, don’t you think? It doesn’t matter really, because when we come up for air from our home offices, sunshine on our shoulders does make us happy! Signs of a new season, like Spring in all its color and growth, gives a feeling of renewal.

So many great things are happening after this years long pandemic. People are feeling like they can finally take a breath, literally! Vaccines are being given and we are looking at the world in a whole new way. People are feeling a sigh of emotional release and relief. We hear it everyday at Meadow Boutique! From where we sit, we are seeing much more appreciation for life and each other. And that my friends, is a beautiful thing.

At Meadow Boutique, we are here to color your world and inspire you to remember the colors we so enjoy about Spring. Our new arrivals this week start with MONO B. This active wear line has given us some pastel colors for our upbeat lounging and HAILEY & CO gives us the push we need to venture out to other clothing besides sweats. DOUBLE ZERO slipped in some t-shirts you might want to stock up on. Jeans are in and will always be in, so don’t throw them in the back seat. Old styles are coming back like boot cut and straight leg and dare I say bell bottoms? Shelley is ordering denim in more styles for your wearing pleasure. WARNING - they are not to be compared to your sweats and joggers. They are your jeans, remember? Please don’t be too quick to replace them yet.

Some of my best memories were the days when I was in Girl Scouts participating in all the fun activities to earn badges on my sash! Girl Scouts is such an empowering place for young girls to gain confidence and be strong leaders. I am sure many of you were a Girl Scout too, so you know the benefits.

Spring, Please!

Spring. Spring. Where are you? New arrivals this week have hints of Spring in color and fabric. By now you must have purchased many pairs of joggers & sweat tops, mix and match or matching, tie-dyed and solid colors. We have had them all and still do. They aren’t going away, but new arrivals boast of change. All the new arrivals will be an added fashion piece to your already adorned closet!

HAPTIC gives us long sleeve t-shirts with stripes on the body, or with sleeves of lace and colorful flowers that can mix and match with any joggers you might already have in your wardrobe. Surely eye catching! PAPER CRANE has brought in some lighter fabric sweats to transition into Spring that will certainly pair with your joggers. MINE lends a lightweight jacket and an embroidered cotton top that reminds us of the 70’s. BLU PEPPER boasts a black and white flowing top with puffy sleeves and a light weight woven sweater, perfect for layering. LA MIEL brings us tops with roomy sleeves in sage and taupe that will seamlessly pair with any denim. Know that change is in the air and you will see it transform on our racks as the months move forward.

In the front of the store at our lighted table, you will find Charleston Candle Co has graced us with some lovely scents like Spanish Moss, Sunday Brunch Mimosa, Church Street, Southern Magnolia & Farmers Market. They are smaller candles in tins. Front Porch Collection with scents of Gardenia, Lavender & Hydrangea are a larger candle in a jar. Oh the wonderful scents that swirl around this table…..heavenly!

We wanted you to know that we have Girl Scout Cookies! You heard me right. Shelley’s daughter, Keira is selling them and because of COVID, the scouts are not to sell them in public for now. You are in luck, we have them at Meadow Boutique. We will take cash or a check, but they have to be paid for separately from any other purchases you might make. So what have I done? I have bought 6 boxes because I can’t help myself. My husband loves the thin mints and they are already in the freezer. So thank you in advance for supporting our favorite Girl Scout, Keira! She is very grateful for your support.
