Fall! Time To Stock Up

Ask most locals what their favorite time of year is, and they’ll likely say Fall. Seattle in the Fall is a beautiful time to be in the area for many reasons. The weather is still somewhat warm, and there are plenty of sunny days left.

While we love the summer days we have, Fall in Seattle is ideal for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. There are many Seattle Fall activities to do this time of year, from Fall events to seasonal food to try. After how hot some of our August days get, we actually look forward to this time of year!

We have Fall pieces coming in weekly now so you best stop by Meadow Boutique and see what you might want to add to your wardrobe. Last year, for Fall, we bought sweats. Everyone was working from home, so there was no need for a wardrobe to wear to work. So, Shelley bought sweats and joggers and sweatshirts. This year it’s like we are building a whole new Fall wardrobe. Fun. Fun. Fun. Can’t wait!

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

Our favorite brands like STACCATO, LOVE TREE, LA MIEL, DREAMERS and GILLI are all new arrivals of sweaters and jackets and fun Fall Fashion pieces. Seems like Hunter Green is a popular color this season. I love the corduroy jacket that is reversible in that rich rust color. There’s also a pair of bell bottom rib knit pants. We hope you all are doing well and your Summer was outrageous! We know your kiddos are getting ready to go back to school soon and we hope there is some excitement in the air. How nice it will be for them to be in a classroom with their peers again, although wearing a mask all day may not be so comfortable. Last year was quite a different scenario with kids glued to the computer screen trying to learn in a new way. We just want you to know that “we are all in this together” and we hope that the school year goes smoothly for you and your family! Fall Fashion Trends

Summer isn’t quite over yet, but we’re already looking ahead to the season of cozy cashmere, plaid skirts and pumpkin spice everything. Last fall we were more than happy to wrap ourselves in sweatpants and fancy PJs while working from home, but this year we’re eager to put together outfits that are a bit more fashion forward as we slowly start incorporating more restaurant visits, office days and hangouts with friends into our schedule. Here are the top 11 fall fashion trends for Fall 2021.

1. ‘90S REVIVAL - Try a sheath dress, tall square-toe boots and maxi-length cardigans.

2. SATURATED HUES - Think boosted jewel tones, deep magenta, mustard yellow and other rich options.

3. LOOSE-FIT DENIM - Skinny jeans will always hold a special place in our hearts, but for fall 2021, looser styles like mom jeans, flares, boot-cuts and boyfriend jeans are the way to go.

4. SWEATER VESTS - As temperatures continue to drop, you can layer your vests over shirt dresses, button-downs, turtlenecks and even another sweater.

5. MIDRIFF-BARING SETS - This fall the trend is taking a simpler turn with hints of skin peeking out between coordinating tops and midi or maxi skirts.

6. PRINTED PANTS - Jeans and trousers in snake prints, checkerboard, zebra stripes and punchy florals are popping up left and right.

7. PUFFY, QUILTED AND TEXTURED HANDBAGS - Think cross-bodies that resemble puffer coats, intricately woven leather clutches and ruching galore. Some bags might even combine all three.

8. LAVENDER - The pretty hue popped up on runways in every city during fashion month. Pick up one or two statement pieces, like a lavender blazer, wide-leg trousers or a floaty midi dress, then mix and match them with other shades of purple or classic basics, like jeans and a T-shirt.

9. PLATFORMS AND FLATFORMS - Platform loafers and lace-up boots, as well as clogs and ‘70s-esque heels, will give you a chic lift that’s also much easier to walk in than stilettos (thank god).

10. SEQUINS AND SPARKLES FOR DAY - The best way to make these statement materials work is by pairing them with super casual basics, like a white button-down, raw-hem denim or an easy T-shirt.

11. DARK ACADEMIA - This moody trend started with Gen Z on TikTok but any age can pull it off. Stand out pieces include pleated mini and midi skirts in dark hues, tailored leather blazers and jackets, and preppy plaids in deep shades of green, navy, burgundy, brown and black.

In Between Seasons

It’s August now, and then September. We hope you are enjoying those last Summer evenings with friends and family. It’s nice when the evenings cool off and we can enjoy each other’s company in our great outdoors. It feels a bit strange to start buying sweaters and Fall attire, but we are almost there. With temps hitting the 90’s this week, I sweat just looking at a sweater. Never fear, we have dresses rolling in, some with Fall colors that will transition with an added cardigan or sweater when the weather turns cooler. We have some really great bags and backpacks from a sustainable company that supports women. They are lightweight and the designs are stunning. There is so much in Meadow Boutique right now, from clothing to jewelry and jeans to bags with lots of surprises around the corner. Shelley really got a jump on Fall this year. The really cool thing is that some of the companies she chose to buy from have a mission of supporting women around the world. Now that makes me proud!

I have heard moms talking about their kids going back to school and hoping it will happen with the variants lurking behind the scenes. Parents seem to really want the kids to get back in the swing of things. It’s been rough for everyone. And just when you think things are turning the corner, the virus takes on a whole new strain. I sense there will be a new direction for us soon and we will just do what we have to do. It’s not just me, it’s us, it’s we and we need to take care of each other. We will do whatever we are asked to do to keep you safe.

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique:

KORI - I absolutely love these dresses with the high/low cut and they are oh so pretty. There are also a couple of sleeveless tops that are easy to pair with your favorite shorts or jeans.

GILLI - More Summer dresses with a jumpsuit to die for and a couple of tops that are very flattering with wonderful prints that will sure to turn heads. GILLI’S designs are hard to beat. We always suggest trying the GILLI jumpsuits to get a feel for them. Our clients are always surprised how great they fit.

BLU PEPPER has some great little short dresses and a longer one with very Fall colors. One of the dresses has a tie in the back. Very unique and the color is just right.

DREAMERS - New styles of Dreamers, as we have our usual suspects in a variety of colors, but also a shorter version and 2 lighter mesh type styles. Super cute and some great transition pieces.

KAN CAN - There are 4 different pairs of denim this week, one wide leg, one boot-cut, and a distressed skinny denim and light black skinny denim as well.

Fall Sneaks In At Meadow Boutique

Those cozy pieces are coming in and it’s really not too early to think about those warmer clothes. I agree, with this great weather, it’s hard to think about. I am with you! Just know that in the weeks to come, there will be more Fall Fashion to choose from. When you are ready, there will be lots here for the taking, so don’t hesitate to stop by. Don’t wait too long, as we have had young people already shopping for school clothes. We have something for every age group, I have seen it with my own eyes. My daughter was just here visiting from Taos, New Mexico and she decided to come in and check out Meadow Boutique. (I told her we had amazing clothes) She is 35 and quite picky about her clothes. She shopped in a lot of stores while she was in Seattle and barely liked anything. I figured she might at least find a shirt she might like. To my surprise she tried on 5 different pieces and liked everything. I was shocked to say the least, but knowing our clientele and the ages that shop here, I knew it was possible. I happily decided to buy them all for her Birthday in September. I can honestly say that our fashion at Meadow Boutique can make women from the ages of 18 to 92 happy……..and satisfied with their purchases.

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique:

GILLI brings us more fun fashion. A lovely mustard colored jumpsuit and a couple of interesting tees with a knotted bottom. Soooo cute and soft as a baby’s, well you know - yes, the fabric is that soft!

HAYDEN is all in black this week with a black dress, black skirt and black boho top.

MISS LOVE has some trendy tops in an oversize corduroy and hoodie sweater.

STACCATO is back in full force with a stripe sweater and animal print top in those lovely Fall colors.

HYFVE is leaning toward black as well. No complaints here! There is a lovely grey and a black textured sweater and a black silky blouse.

KAN KAN Denim has a really stylish grey bootcut, button front, denim and a distressed black skinny, button front denim as well.

NATURE Denim finally has some styles that came in - only a few but worth a look in grey, black and dark denim. We can’t help but still love our skinny jeans, right?

CHENOHA STUDIO (new to us) is vegetable and bohemian chic jewelry handcrafted in France, from scraps of leather from recyclers with a zero waste perspective. The paper and cardboard packaging is also made by hand with a maximum of recycled materials. The jewels are mounted with brass findings gilded with 24 carat fine gold, guaranteed free of nickel, lead and cadmium. The brand draws inspiration from floral, plant and animal motifs to offer you collections that are renewed throughout the year.

We hope that you have been having heaps of fun this Summer! Like I said, the weather, well, is amazing. Seattle’s weather has gotten better each year and I have lived here on and off for a long time! I always look forward to September too, it’s one of my favorite months. The leaves start changing and we still have this wonderful weather. We don’t know about you, but we love the fashion for Fall. Soft cozy sweaters, scarves, jackets, lots of layering. Makes us think of a campfire with hot cocoa surrounded by our friends or family.

Let’s keep on being safe so we can enjoy the next seasons that are just around corner. We are so excited for you to see all of our new Fall fashion. Goodbye July

It’s the end of July and now we are going into the month of August. The weather has been truly amazing. We live for these kind of temperatures and we are lucky to have water near us in our great city. So many people are traveling and taking weekend trips to the beach, to Hawaii, on a cruise or even a road trip. We are like kids in a candy store when it comes to travel! My husband and I were just in Leavenworth for a night this past weekend. After an awesome hotdog at our favorite spot and a walkabout town, we retreated to the river for the afternoon because it was a stifling 98 degrees. We were reminded how enjoyable it is to be out in nature and breathing in the beauty of the river. We agreed we could sit and listen to it forever. We decided that in these times, it’s important to take nothing for granted. Life is truly that precious.

I am having so much fun with all my new Summer clothes. Meadow Boutique has more Summer clothes trickling in due to supply and demand deliveries. We still have all of August, and really September to wear all of our Summer dresses, shorts and rompers. And don’t forget about the new wide leg jeans you have purchased. Oh la la!

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique?

GILLI is continuing to come in from backorder and not a moment too soon. We are still all looking for some interesting pieces for Summer. Some more dresses and rompers are on the racks.

LA MIEL brings in some fun gauze tops and a polka dot kimono.

KAN KAN denim high waisted, wide leg jeans are really stylish with a denim belt as well.

And trickling in is a CRESCENT blue dress with bell sleeves, A BY THE RIVER off white cardigan, a BLU PEPPER Summer dress in some lovely rust and brown hues, PAPER MOON olive dress is also on the racks, plain and simple, E&M sports a red-orange top with some nice detail on the sleeves and neckline.

We hope you all are doing well and keeping safe. It seems we aren’t quite out of the woods yet. Masks are not quite a thing of the past as we had hoped. Don’t burn them yet. Some Some Summertime

The sweet fashions of Summer keep rolling in. It’s time to enjoy those Summer clothes after a year off of sweats and t-shirts. Jeans seem to be a must have these days with skinny legs going out and wide legs coming in. We have so many styles to try right now. The sky is the limit. That’s the beauty of wide legged jeans - you think they aren’t for you until you try them on and see. High waisted, wide legged jeans are slowly growing on me. I wasn’t sure they would until I started trying them myself. It’s definitely an adjustment and the skinny legs will not entirely vanish off the face of the earth. Make a point of coming in to try on a few pairs and if you find a style you like, rest assured you won't be paying more than $64. You heard me right. There’s no point spending more than that on a new trend.

More To Love

The Summer attire just keeps rolling in. Have you noticed how long it takes to receive things these days? It seems like UPS and FedEx has forgotten us some weeks as we wait patiently for our deliveries. Now that everything has opened up, apparently there is not enough help to expedite the tasks at hand. The word on the street is that there’s lots of work out there, people are applying, but they aren’t showing up for an interview. OK, so on that note, we have many items that are on backorder and are now slowly dwindling in. Summer pieces may be taking longer than we expected. Never fear though, we already have Fall fashion back stocked as well. In Seattle, Summer is really just beginning because we have beautiful sunny days right into the month of September. As you know, Meadow Boutique has everything you need to beat the heat and look marvelous while you are doing it!

This week we have a little of this and a little of that.

We have some cute hats by KIMBERLY C, that are cow-girlish in 3 different shades. And some other hats that are like taking a vacation at Cape Cod, with big brims and bows. Nice little add-ons to a perfect Summer outfit.

DOUBLE ZERO continues to bring in many styles of t-shirts from tanks to crop tops.

HEART & HIP has some sweet little tiered short dresses in black and sea foam color with a short tank as well.

CHRIS & CAROL has a red maxi dress that hugs every curve beautifully. It’s soft and red, yes red, don’t be afraid of red! It’s stunning! Also a knot front top with polka dots, that is oh so very versatile.

MITTO SHOP brings a denim romper and soft green tee. Both are a great addition to your Summer wardrobe.

Weekend Finds at Meadow

How is everyone doing? Can you believe this beautiful weather we are having? I was recently in eastern Washington for the 4th of July, and it was so hot. Coming back to Seattle with the temperatures in the upper 70’s was certainly a reprieve! I have already forgotten how hot it was last week. I heard all of the hotels in Seattle were booked for 3 days because of the lack of air-conditioning in homes. My mom’s place was built in the 70’s, and at that time Seattle didn’t need air conditioning, so her house was stifling hot. We managed to give her our portable air conditioner to cool things off. Phew! We hope you and your loved ones were able to find a nice, cool place during those really hot days. Thank goodness we don’t get many days like that very often, right? If I wanted to be that hot I would live in Arizona…….not!

It really has been wonderful to see all of coming into Meadow with excitement. Some of you are just ready to buy new things, go on trips, live without the mask. It’s like our customers have a whole new lease on life. It feels so good to see your lovely faces, smiling, yes, smiling and happy. And oh, those lipstick colors you are wearing, you have really ventured out! It’s the little things we often took for granted, and now, well, we have rearranged our priorities. The things we thought were little things in life are big and the things we thought were a big deal, are not so much to worry about anymore. It’s really amazing to see how this pandemic has changed our perspective on our own lives. We have a new “norm” and that’s OK. We are all in this together, right, we have recited this phrase for the past 18 months and it still feels good to say it and to know it!

What’s new this week? More fashion so you can stay cool this Summer!

COMUNE brings in tank and t-shirts that you can pair with your shorts or cut-offs or jeans.

MONO B sports some work-out clothing that you can sweat it out and then go to the grocery if you want and still look good.

GILLI of course comes through again with a couple of rompers and another sweet jumpsuit! Flattering for sure, everything GILLI designs!

DAVI & DANI has a couple of super fun tops. One ties i n front and the other hangs lose and flows. Love them both.

IN LOOM with a hot pink dress and a lovely embroidered top. If you don’t have a hot pink something in your wardrobe, now is the time to get it! The top has embroidery on the front and back…divine!

ANEMONE has a variety of colors in sports bras and more intimate kinds with lace designs, depending on what the occasion might be. Oh-la-la

There’s some barrettes we have that are so much fun. I would certainly wear them and am planning on buying them. Fruits are in one of the sets and glittery daisies on the other. OMG so cute. You can find them in the little girl section but I say big girls can wear them too! You will see them on some of the photos. A steal at $5, are you kidding me? I will take one of each, please.

Our Independence Day

There are so many reasons that the word Independence rings true with us, especially this year. June 30, Seattle fully opened after a year and a half of the COVID pandemic and wearing masks to protect each other. In previous years, the Fourth of July meant its time for all manners of Seattle backyard barbecues, cooling dips at local swimming holes and of course, dazzling fireworks shows. This year we can watch fireworks outside the city limits and you can click here to see the list of where you can find these incredible fireworks displays if you so desire to venture out this holiday. It’s nice to be getting back to what real life was for us and to have a chance to celebrate our freedoms together. We survived - we are still here! Let Freedom Ring!

Another way we are able to show our independence is by shedding our masks. There will be places we certainly must keep wearing them, but if you are vaccinated, it's acceptable. Meadow Boutique is helping you initiate your independence by removing your mask with some delightful lip colors to enhance that beautiful smile we haven’t seen in a year and a half out in public. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces. Grab some lip color in amazing hues with lipgloss or lipstick and give us the biggest cheese you can possibly muster up!

What’s new this week?

We have, by popular demand, some more shorts by RISEN in a slate color and some denim cutoffs as well with a distressed look. We still have many Bermuda shorts by TEA & ROSE that are a longer length to the knee. We received some straight leg denim capris by RISEN and some crop denim by KAN KAN. The RISEN capris sold out in 2 days when we got them in a few weeks ago. They are not skinny, worth a try, just sayin.’ Both are quite stylish and flattering if you want to know the truth. I bought the RISEN denim first time they came in and L-O-V-E them.

We are very happy with the knotted tees and tanks from EMMA’S CLOSET. This is a new line for us and we are happy we tried them out. The colors are perfect for Summer into Fall and the fabrics are Lucious. Did I say Luscious. Yes, I did.

BE COOL has 2 light-weight short sweaters in a vibrant coral and royal blue. Perfect for throwing over the shoulders on a cool evening with any of your dresses or tanks. It’s nice we still get some cool evenings after we recovered from the 106 temps. We always need a denim shirt in our wardrobe. It is definitely a staple piece and we have more for your fashion pleasure.

KORI Dresses are on the top of my list. I bought the blue one from a past order and now there is an olive green with a different print. DIBS! Mine. The style is so flattering and it flows in the wind and the fabric keeps me cool as a cucumber. I can’t help myself. This label has come out with some really great dresses for the season.

GILLI has another 5 star dress - always lovely, always flattering. They just know how to make a woman look good, right? Everything from rompers, to jumpsuits to dresses, they are simply award winning for our customers. If you own GILLI pieces, you know exactly what I mean. This week we have a white boho top from GILLI as well. Check it!

EJ CLAY CO brought in some unique earrings with vivid colors and styles. You need to check them out. Earrings can really make an outfit pop! Emily Gallardo is the owner of EJ Clay Co. She is a wife/mother of a crazy toddler. Emily started this company in the middle of Covid and it helped distract her from the anxiety of the pandemic. From there, her passion took over and EJ Clay Co. formed!

Summer Coolers

It’s here - it’s hot - it’s sunny! Summer. It is so beautiful in Seattle at this time of year. This week we have a little of this and that to add to your wardrobe for Summer. We hear it will be 100 degrees in the coming days. It will be hotter here than in Miami. OMG! Yikes! That is really hot for Seattle, so stop by and find some cool pieces at Meadow that won’t have you break into a sweat. Seriously, either dress cool or find some water nearby to dip those toes in to cool off. And by all means hydrate, have a jug of water with you at all times because with these high temperatures there is a dehydration danger…… we are just looking out for you! Here we are at the end of June already. It’s Summer! Can you believe it? We love seeing people getting out, planning trips and getting ready to shed their masks. We have chatted with lots of women this week that are planning to go somewhere fun and feel like they need to toss aside those comfy clothes with the hopes of wearing some fashionable jeans again. We love it and we are all feeling the need to break out and have normal gatherings again! We can get close to friends and family and engage in hugging each other again. Seems like we will never, ever take those moments we can have with each other for granted, ever again, right? We are so grateful to have each other through all of this. Somedays it feels like a bad dream, and other days the hope that exudes from us all is invigorating. We keep living, we keep loving, we keep hoping for all of us to find a new normal and resume to a life, albeit a new way of life. We wish you all to feel some sort of cool breeze in the days to come. Summer & Fathers. The Best!

Summer is here June 20th, and along with it, a pretty important day for all the Dads out there. You guessed it: We're talking about Father's Day. Although most sons and daughters don't need a specific date to celebrate the most important man in their life, every Dad in the country does get his special day on the calendar. With restrictions lifting in many states, you may be able to meet in person this year. But if you're not able to dine together, you should still celebrate!

There are so many different ways to celebrate your dad on Father's Day. Picking out the perfect Father's Day gift and writing a sweet message in his card may be a given, but it's also important to make sure that your dad's special day is full of activities that'll bring him even closer to the people he loves most: his kids. Really, if you were to ask him, quality time is the best gift you can give your Dad.

Stop by Meadow Boutique and pick up something nice to wear when you meet up with Dad for Father’s Day! You will be glad you did. If you haven’t seen your Dad in a while, it will feel good to break out of those casual work at home clothes and put on something lovely for him. LA MEIL has 2 pairs of lightweight pants in white and black. Wide leg and sassy, reminds of the days when I was young. Everything always comes back around with a little different twist. OH how I wish I had all my bell bottoms back…..

Tea & Rose (TNR) has what many of us have been waiting for - bermuda denim shorts. You heard me right, so fashionable! Super cute and stretchy too. These are a “must try” when you come in. They have a button fly and are a little distressed, you will like them!

And a few pieces more with HYFVE having a long tie dye t-shirt. This is a shirt of many colors and one you can wear as a swim suit cover-up, dress or even night shirt. So many ways to wear this. Love! MISS LOVE has one of the softest tank tops ever. Again, it can be worn from day to nighty night time. No kidding.

No matter what you do for Father’s Day this year, we all have to admit it feels so much better than last year. In 2021, we have hope for better days and from where we sit, things are looking pretty good for all of us. So strange how it feels we have come out of a deep sleep, with new discoveries about ourselves, new ways to live, laugh and love. Dressing Up For June

Before you know it, June 20th will be here and it will be the first day of Summer. We can’t wait to be warm again. It’s still a little cool out, but we are optimistic since we have seen a couple of 80 degree days out of no where. We love Seattle, but sometimes we wish it could just be a little warmer right now because we have so many fun things to wear. The past few weeks, Meadow has really outdone itself with all the fun fashions that have come through the door.

WOW just WOW! You should see all the great pieces we have this week. Well, you will in a minute when you scroll down. The colors, the dresses, the shorts, the tops, the denim, and guess what, there is a wide leg white pair! The Summer months are finally in site. The past few days have been hot. It’s seems to be like that in Seattle. It’s raining and coolness is in the air and then all of a sudden it’s hot! Then Summer is here and we relish in the days of warmth and sunshine. No one appreciates the sunshine more than the people who live in Seattle. We do everything we can to be out in it. Vitamin D becomes our goal for the Summer. The climate in Seattle during June can be summarized as mild and reasonably dry. June is in the summer in Seattle and is typically the 3rd warmest month of the year.

What’s happening at Meadow Boutiques this week? Lots of great pieces that will take you all the way thru Summer.

GILLI is here in a big way with super cute dresses and jumpsuits that are a flared crop. Love. Love. Love. The colors are amazing and after trying them all on, I was surprised how vibrant they looked! Colors I never thought would look good on me, well, they did. So I say venture out from black, I know, I know, that is a difficult feat, but just give it a try and see what you think. After the past year, we need color in our life!

LE MIEL, LE LIS, & SPACE 46 all have great little tanks in all styles and the perfect colors that will pair up nicely with shorts or jeans. Some are cropped, others are not. You get to chose!

ANEMONE Bralettes, so lovely and feminine. Beautiful crochet scalloped edge lace bralettes, pull over styles, long lines, all day comfort. Removable bra pads, criss-cross straps at back, the straps have a silver detailing and are adjustable with the perfect amount of stretch. Comfortable enough to wear around the house on these warm days and feel cool as a cucumber.

MONO B has an 80’s style jean jacket. It’s fun and funky and it is a nice change from the run of the mill jean jacket we have been wearing.

LOVE VINTAGE has 2 v-neck distressed tees in navy and banana color. Yes, I said banana, because it is that kind of yellow. It seems this yellow is much easier to wear than other yellows. Both are a loose fit and lightweight.

POISON MUSHROOM wide leg jeans. I am just like most of you, not sure about wide legs, but hey, I am game to try because I wore this style in the 60’s and 70’s. They have to to look good and they have to be flattering. Were they ever or we were young and didn’t care? We will be getting a variety of wide legs in the coming weeks. Ease yourself into it, that’s the only way. What’s the worse thing that could happen? You go back to the skinnies that are piled high in your closet. Sigh…….

June is full of surprises in the way of fashion. Meadow Boutique will cater to your needs in whatever ways we can. Memorial Weekend Arrivals 2021

Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. In other words, the purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. In remembering the fallen, we also honor their loved ones: spouses, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, friends. There really aren’t proper words, but we do live in gratitude each and every day for the precious gift that they have given to us. We should reflect on their service and why we have the luxury and freedom that we enjoy today. We might consider a way we can support and safeguard their grieving families and loved ones who are left behind.

Despite the increasing celebration of the holiday as a summer rite of passage, there are some formal rituals still on the books: The American flag should be hung at half-staff until noon on Memorial Day, then raised to the top of the staff. And since 2000, when the U.S. Congress passed legislation, all Americans are encouraged to pause for a National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. local time.

We are still in a pandemic, but with roughly half of all Washington adults (16 +) fully vaccinated against COVID-19, things are approaching some sense of ordinariness - and that includes a lot of rubber tires on roads and feet standing in TSA security lines this Memorial Weekend.

We are all waking up from a very long hibernation. One we certainly didn’t plan on, but hey, we are still here. We are getting out of our homes and gathering again. Shopping again. Meeting friends again. It feels good, doesn’t it? I don’t think we need to be told to stop and smell the roses anymore, we know and acknowledge the importance of living our best life. Now these words come easily, “What a beautiful, colorful, world we live in.” Everywhere we look we see color, in the flowers, in the fruits, in the vegetables, everywhere. Our wardrobes should house the same kind of color, so when we wake every morning, we are inspired to slip on something that will make us feel alive. At Meadow Boutique this week, you will be reminded of our colorful world, just take a look!

I believe the weather has proven we can now wear dresses! The days are getting warmer, even if it’s cloudy. Today is a gorgeous day and I am inside writing this blog. In 2021, Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 9. A day to honor mothers has existed for as long as, well, there have been mothers. How can we give extra recognition to moms, especially if we’re apart? Mother’s Day celebrates motherhood and is a day to make an extra-special effort to recognize and appreciate mothers’ roles in our lives. Often this day is extended to generations of mothers—grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers—as well as to mother figures. I say we give moms everywhere the whole month! They have proven to be resilient and loving for their family in the past year. Clap. Clap. Clap. Hug. Hug. Hug. No words.

10 WAYS TO CELEBRATE MOM

The past year’s been a challenge. Many of us are rethinking how to give extra recognition to moms. Some of us are apart from our moms when we’d normally be together. How can we celebrate differently? Most moms simply wish to connect with their children and spend time with family in any way possible—if not in person, then with a phone call or video chat! If your mom is at home, give her a day off from any family chores, especially during this difficult time. Someone else can take full responsibility for making or serving the food, clearing and cleaning the dishes, and doing the laundry. Volunteer!

This probably covers the big stuff, but here are 10 creative ways to reach out to mom to show her a little extra comfort, love, and recognition. After all, moms are always there for us!

1. Offer yard and garden services.

2. Decorate your mom’s door or give flowers!

3. Cook for Mom or set up a virtual brunch date.

4. Give your mom a long phone call or put on a virtual talent show!

5. Watch a movie or show together, side by side.

6. Get creative: Make Mom a video, a music playlist, or a piece of art!

7. Get outside! Go for a stroll in the park or how about packing mom a picnic?

8. Make a homemade gift!

9. Travel virtually to a museum or garden together!

LETO ACCESSORIES have 2 beautiful kimonos. One has lace and the other has a grey and orange design. They are both quite flattering. My advice is to take it off the hanger and try it on! You really can’t tell what kimonos will look like unless you put them on your body and see how they look on you.

JEN & CO has some nifty little handbags with 2 straps and two slip pockets, 6 slot card holder, and a middle zip pocket to put credit cards & money, a phone and a little lipstick. So You Feel Like Traveling?

Many Americans are thinking of travel again. We all have the itch to travel after this past year of being homebound. And who can blame us? After all, it’s been more than a year of seesawing coronavirus infection rates, on-again, off-again lockdown restrictions, and simple quarantine fatigue. How many of you haven’t seen your loved ones or even hugged them? How many of you have been dreaming of going to a tropical island and just laying in the sun with your favorite book in hand? We have missed those precious moments and have vowed never to take them for granted again. It’s the little things that we have been doing and never thinking twice about it. Now it seems we have to, lessons we have all learned. Wherever the road may take you, make sure you pack with intention. Masks and sanitizer are still a priority even though we may have been vaccinated. We just want you to stay safe no matter if you fly or ride. Remember that everyone has their own comfort level and being respectful of each other takes a lot of the anxiety away. Once again, “We Are All In This Together” now and forever. This is how we chose to see it and it feels good to say it every time we write this blog. Write yourself a sticky note with this message on your bathroom mirror, we promise it will change your day!

CELLO has some really fashion forward pants, high waisted, cut off at the bottom and a color that will know your socks off. Check them in the photos below.

BLACK LABEL sports some new high waisted, button fly, boot cut denim. These are very stylish. We have so many different kinds of jeans right now and they seem to be flying out the door. Hmmm, it must mean those jogger sweats are getting a little old, am I right? Are they dumped in a pile in your closet somewhere?

GILLI is known for their dresses and they never disappoint. This week we have a short green spunky dress and a sleek, slim striped dress. The striped dress is truly a body hugger and the green dress makes you want to skip to your favorite coffee joint. Both dresses will definitely make you want to be seen!

STACATTO adorns 2 floral tee-shirts with a variety of rich spring colors. They really are so colorful and will pair nicely with shorts or jeans. The v-neck and round neck of these tops are very flattering. Both of these tees would go nicely with the CELLO pants I told you about above.

SUNLILLY Roll & Go Sun Hats are perfect for travel and easily rolled up and packed neatly in your bag. Great color patterns and the brim is wide enough to keep the sun from scorching that beautiful face and neck of yours.

SCARVES of every lovely color you might think of that will match your Spring wardrobe. I love these scarves! The patterns remind me of traveling to southeast Asia. Rich in color and patterns. And, you will look fantastic no matter what your choice of travel might be. We all deserve a break and from what we have heard in the past weeks, many people are ready to take it. One customer family took a 8 week RV trip though different states with 4 kids, others are going to Hawaii, weddings are commencing with small gatherings, while some of you are just getting together with others that have been vaccinated so you can move about more freely and hug and whisper sweet nothings in each others ears. There is nothing better than “Human Connection.” So often in the past we might have felt that it wasn’t that important or maybe we took it for granted, but now we know just how important it actually is to us.

Like at Meadow Boutique, we know that we couldn’t have weathered the storm without you. We know that we cherish your funny stories and sharing a laugh or a cry, whatever the case may be. We have seen it all and are grateful that you trust us with all those crazy emotions you seem to be feeling! We don’t care that you gained 15 pounds during COVID. This too shall pass. We care how you feel when you buy new clothes for yourself and look in the mirror and give yourself a wink! You are here, and all of us that are, have a new lease on life. Seattle’S Sunny Days

We cannot help but love these past few weeks of sun. We know the rain is around the corner but Seattleites are a lot more appreciative of the sun than any other state! We let the sun in the Boutique every chance we get, by opening the door to the outside. That feeling of the sun’s rays makes us warm all over. I have said it before and I will say it again, Seattle is the most beautiful place when the sun comes out. I say this because I have travelled the globe and been to many beautiful places. The sky is so blue here and the trees are so green. This beautiful site cannot be viewed everywhere in the world. Gratitude comes to mind. Breathtaking!

Earth Day Tees

Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues, and Earth Day 2021 will occur on Thursday, April 22—the holiday's 51st anniversary. The holiday is now a global celebration that’s sometimes extended into Earth Week, a full seven days of events focused on green living. The brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson and inspired by the protests of the 1960s, Earth Day began as a “national teach-in on the environment” and was held on April 22 to maximize the number of students that could be reached on university campuses. By raising public awareness of pollution, Nelson hoped to bring environmental causes into the national spotlight.

My Birth Day is Earth Day and I am so happy about that, you have no idea! Every year I throw on my favorite tee and hiking gear to head up to a secluded place in Nature. I have to say, that the past year has lead me there over and over again. When times were tough and I felt disconnected, I would venture into the woods on a hike and find comfort. I have so much gratitude for this beautiful Earth and we all should do our part to keep it into existence. It’s truly as simple as just planting a tree or some flowers so the earth can exude the colors of the season. What can you do this Earth Day to show love for our environment? All it takes is a conscious effort to make things happen and create change. Here are 10 simple ways:

Clean up a local beach.
Plant a garden at your home or school.
Scan your neighborhood for litter.
Sign an environmental action petition.
Start a conversation.
Help restore bird habitats.
Buy a reusable water bottle.
Plant a tree.
Clean vacant lots in the community.
Unplug and spend time outside.
