My time is coming to an end November 28th and I am not going to say good-bye. I just can’t. I makes everything so final and I can’t imagine the past 4 years coming to an end. So for right now, I am still hanging on. In Spanish, I could say “Nos encontraremos de nuevo” which means “We shall meet again.” I am much happier with that kind of farewell! xoxoxo

Bag Bliss - Fresh Handbag Arrivals

October 20, 2023 Shelley Hall

Changing up your handbag for the Fall and Winter season in Seattle is not just a matter of style; it's also a practical choice that can help you stay prepared for the unique challenges and opportunities that this time of year brings.

We know Seattle is known for its rainy and chilly Fall and Winter seasons. A waterproof or water-resistant handbag is essential to protect your belongings from the rain. Leather and suede bags are more susceptible to damage in wet conditions, so opting for a bag made from more weather-resistant materials is a wise choice. At Meadow Boutique, most of our handbags are Vegan, so they are not made of leather and wear well in our climate during the changing seasons…..especially our rainy season.

Fall and Winter often require more layers and accessories, like scarves, gloves, and hats. A larger handbag with additional pockets and compartments can help you carry these items more comfortably, ensuring you're prepared for changing weather conditions. Small bags are great when you are a walker and need to carry minimal items, like just a phone, an ID and a credit card for that stop along the way for a latte.

Changing up your handbag is a practical and stylish decision. It ensures you are prepared for the city's unique weather conditions, allows you to stay in tune with seasonal fashion trends, and provides an opportunity to enhance your overall outfit. Plus, it can protect your valuable bags from damage and extend their usefulness. So, consider investing in a handbag that suits the season and your lifestyle, making this season both functional and fashionable.

Which leads us to what’s new at Meadow Boutique and handbags top the list!

METRO MUSE, VIAGO, CALIN, LA MIEL and K CARROLL are our handbag lines, so far this season. Check out the styles below. These are only just a few of what we have in the boutique. As you can see DREAMERS are back with your favorite colors, black & grey. DOUBLE ZERO, DEBUT, STACCATO, LES AMIS, and LISTICLE have some fantastic sweaters and cardis on our racks. Great colors you can venture into trying. I suggest you give them a look! It’s time to give your wardrobe a facelift with new sweaters, jeans and handbags. Meadow Boutique has got you covered.

As I have been going through my clothing items and deciding what to take to Mazatlan. The hardest things to part with are my handbags. Why I wonder? My handbags carry sentimental value. They are associated with memories, events, or people, making it harder for me to let go of them. Since I am moving to a new country, it involves significant change and uncertainty for me. Holding onto my familiar possessions like handbags provide a sense of comfort and continuity.

So what I need to do, is remember that moving to a new country is an exciting adventure. I am trying to concentrate on the experiences and opportunities that lie ahead rather than dwelling on the things I am leaving behind. I want to adopt a more minimalist lifestyle when moving. Reducing the amount of clothing and handbags I decide to take, can make the transition and adjustment to Mexico more manageable. This whole experience will be liberating and help me embrace new experiences and opportunities in my new home. Thank goodness we live in an apartment. We decided not to buy many things when we moved back here. We knew we would be leaving so this will be easier than I think. It's just all the clothes, shoes and handbags I own. I have already donated 10 bags of clothing, so I think I have enough left.

So the question is, are you in need of a new handbag this season? If so, stop by and see us. We have so many to pick from right now. This is only the beginning, there will be more coming. You don’t have to get rid of your old ones, especially if they have sentimental value.

If your closet is craving a dose of chic and a pinch of pizzazz, we've got just the remedy for you! Introducing the latest and greatest handbags from Meadow Boutique - where fashion dreams come true! Picture this: You, strutting your stuff with a brand-new bag, turning heads on every corner, and leaving a trail of fashion envy in your wake. So, why wait? Swing by Meadow Boutique and snag yourself a handbag that will turn your everyday outings into a fashion extravaganza! Don't let your outfit down, let your handbag stand out! xoxoxo

Jeans & Hoodies Weather

October 13, 2023 Shelley Hall

Wearing jeans and hoodies in Seattle is like the city's unofficial uniform. It's not so much a fashion statement as it is a survival strategy for the ever-changing weather. You might start your day bundled up like you're heading into an Arctic expedition to stay warm and dry, and by the afternoon, you're rolling up your sleeves and regretting your life choices as the sun unexpectedly makes an appearance. So, in Seattle, your wardrobe needs to be as adaptable as the weather forecast – which means jeans and hoodies are your trusty companions for the rollercoaster ride of climate that is the Emerald City.

Hoodies and jeans are popular and versatile clothing choices for residents of Seattle. Our city known for its casual and laid-back fashion culture, and these two items fit right into that aesthetic. Here's some information about hoodies and jeans in Seattle:

  1. Weather-Appropriate: Seattle's climate is known for its frequent rain and cool temperatures, especially in the fall and winter. Hoodies are perfect for layering to stay warm and dry, as they can easily fit over other clothing and offer a hood for added protection. Jeans are also a practical choice for Seattle's often wet and cool weather, as they can provide insulation against the cold and are less likely to get soaked in the rain compared to other materials.

  2. Casual Fashion: Seattleites tend to embrace a laid-back and casual style. Hoodies and jeans are considered staples of this fashion culture. Whether you're going to a coffee shop, running errands, or enjoying outdoor activities, you'll often see people wearing these items.

  3. Local Brands: Seattle has a thriving local fashion scene, with several brands and stores that cater to the demand for comfortable, practical, and stylish clothing. Some local brands may offer unique and sustainably produced hoodies and jeans, contributing to the city's eco-conscious culture. Meadow Boutique, being one of them.

  4. Streetwear Influence: Seattle has a growing streetwear and urban fashion scene, which often incorporates hoodies and jeans into its style. Streetwear enthusiasts frequently mix these items with sneakers and various accessories to create unique looks.

  5. Music Culture: Seattle has a rich history of music, with grunge being one of its most famous contributions to the music world. Hoodies and jeans are associated with this music scene and its rebellious, anti-fashion aesthetic, popularized by bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

  6. Outdoor Activities: Seattle's proximity to nature and its outdoor culture make hoodies and jeans practical for hiking, camping, and other outdoor adventures. Many residents prefer to dress comfortably for these activities, which is another reason why these clothing items are so popular.

  7. Seasonal Variations: While jeans are versatile and suitable for most of the year, the choice of hoodie may vary with the seasons. In colder months, people may opt for thicker and warmer hoodies, while lighter and more breathable ones are preferred during the warmer seasons.

Overall, hoodies and jeans are not just a fashion choice in Seattle; they are a reflection of the city's lifestyle and climate. They offer comfort, practicality, and a touch of local style that resonates with the city's relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Meadow has you covered and Shelley knows exactly what to order and at what time to do it!

Red Saves The Day

October 6, 2023 Shelley Hall

I live in Capitol Hill and sometimes I feel like a ghost walking around there. Not many people look up and acknowledge you. Maybe because I am considered “old people.” It’s a sign of the times, I suppose. At my age, I am sad about that. Thankfully, I do remember better days when there was more smiling, more hellos and more respect for each other. Today my faith was restored in humanity. I can tell you, I needed it today. I had no idea how much I did until the day progressed into many little happenings.

I decided to wear red today. Red top and red pointed shoes. I felt powerful and ready to take on the world. I rarely wear red, like most of you. I work early on Wednesdays because I take photos for the blog. I packed my belongings and headed to my car. My car wouldn’t start and I was distressed because I just got a new battery. I called my insurance company to come give me a jump, fearing the worse, like it has to be my starter now. Arghhh. The lovely man came and took one look at my battery and told me the cables were loose and they needed to be tightened, which he did. No need for a jump, it started right up! OK, OK everything is good. He commented on my red outfit and told me red is a lucky color. I am dressed in red so things have got to start going my way, right?

Since my car is OK, I decide to stop at Starbucks to get my London Fog and Egg White Bites to reward me and my VW bug. The partners (workers) in Starbucks comment on my red shoes. It’s like people in Seattle are not accustomed to people wearing red. I’ll take the compliments. I get my London Fog and my egg white bites and I head to Meadow Boutique. I decide Red is Good! It’s my lucky day, things are a little bumpy, but everything is working out positively.

I parked my car on the street in Queen Anne, grabbed my belongings and started to walk to the boutique. I am in the middle of the intersection and I slip and take a fall, I mean a full fall, body down. Legs out from under me. Those d*** slippery red shoes, I am thinking. The ones everyone likes, the ones that made me feel like I could rule the world, yeah those! But guess what? A man turned the corner, saw me tumbling down, stopped his car and came out and helped me up get up. He made sure I was OK. Yeah, you heard me right. I wasn’t a ghost who fell in the middle of the road, I was a lady dressed in red and worth making sure I was all in one piece. I even managed to save my London Fog from spilling and my glasses from breaking. Priorities. I thanked him profusely and told him that these days no one ever stops and how much I appreciated him. I should have gotten his name and number. I would have sent him a thank you note. I left the scene with just a banged up knee. I went inside the boutique and cried. Not sure why - was it the day I was having so far? I think with all the happenings of my day, RED has truly saved me.

I SAY WEAR RED! Shelley and I always talk about the color RED in Meadow and how it doesn’t sell that well. There is something about it. RED is definitely one of my colors. Most people look good in Red and RED is the color for 2023! So, why aren’t more people wearing it? We don’t have RED in the shop yet, but we will and I challenge you to buy a piece. You will be noticed, especially in Seattle where everyone sticks to the basic colors of black, grey and beige. If your day goes bad and you are wearing RED, it won’t last for long!  I promise you that!

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week:

CIELO is back this season with all it’s great mock necks and cardigans in some luscious colors. No red yet…but it shall come! ZENANA in with a look-a-like short Dreamers sweater in a beautiful teal and a chunky beige knit sweater. ACTIVE USA with a animal print top with tie sleeves, cute right? It's perfect for petite women because it tends to run small. LOVE TREE is back again this year with a reversible jacket with lovely warm colors on both sides. DOUBLE ZERO in with a new color sweater and AEMIS & CO with some super cute bell bottoms! See for yourself below.

Hope your October is going well and life is settling in for the coming seasons. We miss you and want to see you, so please stop by and say hello. I am leaving at the end of November and I am disappointed I haven’t seen some of our old friends in a while. Why is that? We still have great fashion and new stuff every week. It’s smaller, yes, but so what. Just stop by and say Hello if anything and check out what we do have. Before you know it, we will be back in our old home on Crockett and 6th. Thanks for letting me share my RED story today. Hope you have an amazing RED day soon! xoxoxox

What? Yes, It's October

September 29, 2023 Shelley Hall

October is here on Sunday. Really? Yes that is correct. Rainy days and Mondays always get me down. Isn’t that a song? Yes, by the Carpenters, that shows my age. LOL! You know how I feel about the rain. How many times have I told you in this blog? Too many, I know. Pretty soon, I will have everlasting sunshine. So I will do my best not to dwell on the rain. I know, I know, most Seattleites like the rain. For me, not so much. Wait, I guess I love it when I am home in my jammies, watching movies and eating bon bons.

Just so you all know, because some of you have asked. Shelley is not closing Meadow Boutique, and moving to Mexico. I am, Kathy! I am the one with the curly blonde hair, older, 65. I have worked for Shelley for 4 years. One week ago, we secured a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo in a lovely neighborhood in Los Lomas, Mazatlan. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 8 minute walk to the MAZATLAN letters on the boardwalk. The boardwalk travels along the beach for about 6 miles, which will be our walk every morning. You know, after our coffee on our deck.

Retirement - Wow I can’t really believe my husband and I are here. Somedays I don’t feel like I am old enough to retire and other days I do. It’s really a funny thing. Thank you for letting me share bits and pieces of this journey with you. I feel like I know you all well enough to share. After all, if you aren’t here yet, some day you will be and maybe you will remember the feelings of it that I shared. The hardest part is if you are a fashionista like I am - what I will chose to bring, I can’t bring everything. Arghhhh. One of my suitcases is packed is full of summer dresses. I will go through it again in December and see how I feel, and again discard. All of my winter clothes that I chose to save are in plastic crates and will be stored along with all of our incredible art. After all, I will come back to Seattle, and I will be cold after living in Mexico. So if you must know, I am in process of leaving and sorting and letting go. It’s just things, and things can be replaced. Not the art. It will make it’s way to us at some point.

One thing you can’t replace is Meadow Boutique, so yes, it will stay behind, with Shelley at the counter, greeting you and bringing you all the best fashion and prices on the hill. Meadow Boutique will move back to it’s bigger home on Crockett and & 6th and you will be so happy to see what she has in store for you. I wish I was going to be here for that. If there is one thing I can tell you about my last years of working, Meadow has totally rocked my world as much as all of you. Meeting you, getting to know you, your kids, your visiting guests, all of it. It means so much to me and Shelley values you all so much.

Please, please keep supporting her and Meadow Boutique. We need you……..

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week:

All the colors of fall, that’s what! Come in and see for yourself. ZENANA, DOUBLE ZERO, GILLI and STACATTO are all some of our favorite styles and never to disappoint with their fashion forward styles and colors. INA, GREIGE, STRUT & BOLT are new brands with lovely pieces as well. VERVET denim is back in such a flattering style. We got it in 2 weeks ago and it sold out in 2 days. See the photos below, but remember, coming in and seeing with your eyes and touching with your hands will make al the difference!

Break out your umbrella, grab your favorite hot drink and stop by Meadow for a look around. I know we are not in a very big space right now, but keep in mind we will be! Everyday we get closer. There is work happening at our old space, so keep those positive vibes coming. We love that we can go back to our true home. We love that you support us, for what is it now, 13 years? Don’t stop now, the holidays are right around the corner and we will have something for everyone! Plus, I want to see as many of you as I can before my last day here at Meadow, November 29th. I need a hug, guys. Please let me always remember your smiling faces and the joy you have bestowed upon me. xoxoxoxox

Warm Up at Meadow

September 22, 2023 Shelley Hall

OK, so I turned my heat on in the car this morning. Yes I did! It was actually chilly. I also stopped for a London Fog to warm up. It’s been a while since I have stopped for a hot drink. I also started rummaging through my sweaters to see if there were any light enough to wear. It’s not quite time for the full on sweater weight yet. I looked at my pedicure and said the heck with it, as I think its time for closed toes now. What really closed the deal was all the leaves on my car. It’s Fall, pure and simple.

It happened so quick, the changing of the seasons. September 22 started our Fall season! So, do you have the sweaters you need to start off the season? This is my last chance to wear my Fall/Winter clothes before I leave for Mexico, so I am dragging everything out to put together Fall outfits. I am finding so many things I want to buy at Meadow right now, but can’t. The colors are so yummy, I can hardly stand it. The burgandys, the browns, the golds, the greens, the grays, the beiges, I could go on, but you need to see for yourself.

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week that will warm you up?

ZENANA in with sweaters in teal, gray and beige. Fun styles and textures. BE COOL in with light long sleeve tops and a skirt to die for. STACCATO in with more sweaters and LAZY DAYS with a boho top and MITTOSHOP with a jacket full tweed and style. ANNIE WEAR has a new denim in town. Wide leg long, all the way down to your feet.

We want to acknowledge the National Hispanic Heritage Month, from September 15 – October 15 as the U.S. government celebrates the countless contributions of more than 60 million Hispanic Americans, Latinos, Latinas, and Latinx-identifying people to our culture and society. We all have friends, acquaintances and co-workers who are Hispanic, so this is the time to celebrate their contributions to our communities.

We hope to see you stopping by and seeing us soon. NEWS FLASH: There’s a Porta-Potty and a dumpster sitting outside our old building now. This is definitely progress! We are hoping that work is starting soon or has already started. Cross your fingers for us! We can’t wait to go back to our amazing space on Crockett & 6th! We loved it there, you loved it there, so let’s hope we will be back there sooner, rather than later! Until then, we are still popping up at the Wink Salon. Don’t forget about us, please! We are here to help you find those pieces for Fall you need. Warm and cozy just like those sweaters we have right now. Just sayin' xoxoxoxo

Feeling Fall Colors

September 15, 2023 Shelley Hall

Let’s decide how we are going to add some new pieces to our wardrobe. We know you need some new sweaters. So, what’s the hold up? Where are you? We haven’t seen many of you for a while. We know you have been busy this Summer, and we know we are in a smaller space, but we still have everything you need. The colors and sweaters in Meadow Boutique right now are screaming Fall.

This year, I am not allowed to buy anything for Fall because those clothes won’t be conducive to Mexico weather. I have to tell you, I am pretty sad about that. I love all the cozy sweaters and scarves and jackets and hats. To bad, so sad for me. But hey, I am happy for you. Meadow has some great sweaters already and this is just the beginning. The colors make me think of everything Fall harvest; all the colors of your Thanksgiving table.

More specifically, how do you describe the colors of Fall? You might think that you just need to go outside and look, and you would be right. But looking isn't all of it. You have to know what to look for. Describing the colors of Fall is particularly difficult because there is a conflict between visual colors and emotional colors. Between bon fires, trees that glow red in the sunlight, and warm orange and yellow tones that are cast across the sky earlier in the day by that beautiful Autumn sun, there is no doubt that Fall makes us think of warm colors.

This influences fashion choices that leads us to choose scarlet scarfs, dark forest green coats, and rich brown sweaters. But there is a problem there. Even though we've only been thinking of warm colors, the clothing items of choice are to fight off cold. Fall can persuade many different reactions and emotions. It can make a person feel warm or cold, or it can inspire love, affection, comfort, relaxation, and pleasure. How does Fall make you feel? Let’s see how you feel after viewing our new arrivals below.

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week, you ask?

ACTIVE USA with some lovely sweaters, BLU PEPPER sweaters in great prints, TIMING with some light jackets, Then we have HYFYVE, DOUBLE ZERO, EMORY PARK and LOVE TREE. All these brands are coming in with Fall pieces and striking colors. You are sure to find pieces that will fit right in your closet along with your other Fall clothing. The sweaters are pretty cute if you ask me!

As we move into September, we hope all of you are doing well and settling back into your routines. Especially if you have kids, we know there has to be a routine. With school and sports and other activities, we move about the world once again in the beauty of Fall. I am heading in that direction myself. I am starting my Spanish lessons October 1. At my age, taking classes can be challenging, but I am determined to learn the language of where I will be living. So I too, am going back to school and thank goodness I have all the best school clothes I could possibly need from Meadow Boutique! I have Fall pieces from last year that will have to suffice. Come on in and get something new, if I can’t, you should, there will be more for you. Step into the season with some amazing pieces from Meadow Boutique. xoxoxoxo

Fall Into Meadow

September 8, 2023 Shelley Hall

Soft, cozy, warm are the pieces gracing our racks. It was bound to happen sooner or later. We just can’t help it. It is getting cooler. It is getting darker early. And the kids are back in school. OK, we blinked and then the Summer was a memory. As I write, it’s still beautiful outside and the perfect temperature in the 70’s.

These are the days I will remember the most. I wish we could take photos with our eyes and keep them forever. If we could do that, I would be snapping away! There are so many wonderful things about Seattle that I will always love. The Fall, the green trees, the gardens, the blue skies and the people that have made my life so happy. These are the things I will focus on. I live in Capitol Hill now, so some days it’s very hard to get out from under the dark clouds. Seattle is so different than it use to be. I have lived here on and off since the age of 14, and you know now, that I am 65…….so……I will stop here. There is no point on me being a Debbie Downer when there is so much amazing, things about Fall in Seattle!

Which leads me to think about the Fall trends this year. I love seeing the change in fashion that people in Seattle are spotted wearing. We are lucky we don’t have extreme cold, so lots of our Fall pieces can transition into winter. Here’s 9 of this years Fall trends:

1. ALL-RED EVERYTHING - Ask any designer and you’ll get the same answer: The color of Fall 2023 is red.

2. SWEATER WEATHER - Not sure if anyone has ever realized this before, but fall is a stellar time to throw on a sweater.

3. WORKING GIRL - Even if you don’t have an office job, you might find yourself dressing like you do before long. The mood this fall is workplace staples with a twist.

4. OFF-THE-SHOULDER - Slinky, sexy, and surprisingly versatile, off-the-shoulder silhouettes are poised to make a grand comeback this season.

5. PEPLUM, REDEFINED - While the word peplum might trigger cringy flashbacks to a decade ago, the silhouette is undeniably back in fashion.

6. NAVY ON BLACK - If age-old styling adages are to be believed, navy and black should never touch—and yet some of fall’s most arresting shows mixed the two colors to great effect. Keep in mind - you can break the rules!

7. NORMCORE 2.0 - You really can never go wrong with a perfect T-shirt, button-down, blazer, or pair of trousers—which is probably why so many brands showed some combination of these staples.

8. ART PRINTS - Collector-worthy prints made an appearance on plenty of runways this season. Clearly, fashion has art on the brain this season—so lean into it with these printed picks.

9. GOTHIC ROMANCE - The nights are getting longer—time to get in touch with your witchy side. All black, velvet and lace for starters.

It was said in all the fashion articles I read, that this seasons runways were dominated by Red. I know most Seattleites run at the site of Red. We tend to wear grey, beige, black and muted colors. I say this season, please, please try some Red. The hue is bold and beguiling, handily commanding a room or a social feed. If you are in need of commanding a room or a household, you might try a little Red. Just saying!

Back To School At Meadow

September 1, 2023 Shelley Hall

If I were going back to school, I would be shopping right here at Meadow Boutique. Our sizes won’t fit young girls, but pre-teens and above can easily find some Fall fashion. We have so many great pieces for Fall and all the new fashion will be coming in for the seasons at hand. Our sweaters, jackets, pants and dresses have Fall written all over them. The colors are so yummy, just like the pumpkin lattes that have come out early everywhere! And the prices, well, they can’t be beat!

It seems it is already getting cooler. I wore my jean jacket this morning and I almost, I said almost, turned the heat on in my car. I wouldn’t let myself go there. I really want to hang on to those last weeks we are still calling Summer! In the extended forecast, I am not seeing any sunshine. I am hoping things will change as the weeks progress. My son was visiting from Arizona this past weekend, and as you can imagine, he was freezing. When you come from temperatures in the 100’s, the 70’s are a bit cool for you. At least, Saturday and Sunday were nice, so he was able to play golf with his friends and catch up. He was dressed from head to toe in Lululemon joggers and sweatshirt. Even his shoelaces matched his golf shoes and outfit. My husband got a kick out of that, but I totally get it. It’s all about the look! He can afford to wear high end name brands, no wife, no kids, just him living his best life, as we like to say! My 2 daughters don’t follow in my footsteps when it comes to fashion, my son does. Who would have thought?

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

Its out all time favs like GILLI, LOVE TREE, BLU PEPPER, CES’ FEMME, DOUBLE ZERO, LES AMIS, FANTASTIC FAWN and then some new labels like COLLECTIVE RACK, & AMPERSAND AVE. Love all the new pieces - so Fall, so warm, so spicy like the latte! You will love the hues of the season and they just keep coming. Shelley has so much merchandise coming for you, you will love it! Don’t let the size of the Boutique fool you, every week, there’s something new and then there’s more on sale. Meadow Boutique has it going on!

As we close the month of August and move into September, we hope you had an amazing Summer. We hope your kids are excited about their teachers and going back to school. We hope you were able to visit with your friends and family and you were able to take the time for a vacation for yourselves. Before you get back into the hustle and bustle of the Fall happenings, make sure you always treat yourself with love and kindness. In the world we live in today, everything happens at such a fast pace, that sometimes we lose sight of what’s really important. The older I get, my list of what’s important becomes more and more precious. Taking care of myself has become a priority. It seems when I take care of myself, then I am a much better person to everyone around me. I just ooze love and kindness. Funny how that works.

Thank you for making our days more pleasant and for supporting our little pop-up! It means so much to us. Shelley and all her team would not be here, if it wasn’t for you. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Also thank you for all the compliments on this blog. It makes me smile every time you tell me how much you look forward to receiving it every Friday. It has evolved just like Meadow has, with all of the ups and downs and all arounds in the past few years. We have made it through and it’s because of you! It’s so amazing that we are still standing proud, right here in Queen Anne! As I have said, I have had the best time ever! So thank you! xoxoxoxox

Cool Colors At Meadow

August 25, 2023 Shelley Hall

The colors of cooler weather are such amazing hues. I don’t want to say Fall yet, but really the colors are all about Fall. We have them, they are slowly trickling in. The greens, the golds, the burgundys, the blacks, the rusts. You must come by and see the sweaters, pants, jackets and dresses. Fall is waiting in the wings. It will be cool in the morning. The days will get shorter. The leaves will turn colors. We will crave warm drinks of the season. The nights will have a chill in the air in the evenings. And we will snuggle up with our warm blankets at night and have sweet dreams.

What have you all been doing? I haven’t seen many of you. I know, I know, its Summer, you’ve been busy with vacations and activities and sports. I can’t wait to to see you all again. Before you know it, November will be here and my last days at Meadow will ensue. November 30 is my last day, and believe me it seems like it was April last week. TIME is just flying by. I notice it the most when I look at my adult children. I also notice it when I see your children, who I have been seeing for the past 4 years. Meadow Boutique and it’s customers have given me such joy! I truly mean that. After working as a teacher for many years, working at Meadow has been icing on my cake of life.

On August 23rd, my oldest daughter, Nikki, turned 48, yes you heard me right. I started at 18. I had no idea how to be a mom. In fact, I really didn’t even think about becoming a mom at that age. I had big dreams and aspirations. I wanted to go to college. Thank goodness I was able to accomplish that, although it took me a little longer than I had hoped with a kid in tow. It’s a long story in which I won’t bore you. It was the 70’s, you know “love is all you need!” The silver lining is that I have a beautiful daughter who turned into an amazing mother. She has a heart of gold. She owns her own business and has worked hard to get where she is today. We often talk about how fast TIME seems to go and how she should always stay in the moment and relish every second of her incredible life. I always say, “Yesterday I was 30.” That’s how fast TIME seems to go. For her Birthday, hiking Crystal Mountain was on her bucket list and I am happy to say we accomplished that. It was difficult, but we made it. Because it was 5.7 miles straight up hill, we decided to take the gondola down. There was lots of smoke unfortunately, but she was happy, and you know how much that matters to see your kids happy, no matter what their age. I am just ecstatic that we had that TIME together. Right now, TIME is of the essence with my departure looming.

So come in and see us and let us help you find something special for Fall! And the million dollar question is - What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

This week there’s GILLI, NEW IN, MYSTREE, CHERISH & KAYLA’S ARMOIRE. So much fashion for the taking. Only 6 pieces of each, so if you are looking for some Fall pieces, you might want to get a jump on it. The nice thing about the pieces we have in now is that they are not super heavy and will make great transition pieces as well for Fall.

I think I am feeling a little nostalgic, so thanks for letting me share bits and pieces of my life and to talk about TIME. Before I go, I want you all to know how much this TIME I have spent at Meadow, getting to know you, helping you dress, laughing and talking and solving all the problems of the world has meant so much to me. This will not be the last TIME I will say it. You will hear it again and again before I leave. This sentiment is also true for Shelley. She loves the heck out of what she has created for Meadow Boutique. You see it in the esthetics of the space and the fashion she purchases. I can’t tell you what an amazing human being she is and how lucky I have been to work for her. So if you do anything, please support her efforts at Meadow Boutique. She has been in Queen Anne for almost 14 years and she is not going anywhere, anytime soon! Consider yourself lucky and know you still have TIME to transition into Fall!  We will be waiting! xoxoxoxo

Sweater Arrivals

August 18, 2023 Shelley Hall

As I write this blog, I am sitting at the Meadow Boutique pop-up at Wink Hair Studio, sweating. The temperature is 87 degrees and it is quite warm. The fans are on high and my hair is blowing in the wind. I have popsicles on my mind! Jumping in a pool sounds good on a day like today! Where’s my floatie and my ice cold beverage?

Now I am going to say that we are certainly NOT SORRY for getting in only sweaters this week. There are dresses in transit, but they didn’t make it. Sweaters are what we have, and beautiful they are. Some are a little lighter than others in weight so they can be great transition pieces. It’s so hard to even begin to think about Fall and cooler weather. You might want to check out what we just got in, and try to think how quickly the Fall will be coming and how you will want some cute sweaters. They are sure to go fast when the chill of the evenings start.

Seems like it wasn’t long ago that I stored my sweaters away, knowing that they will be going into storage after December. I actually got rid of 7 bags of clothes. After Summer there will be more cleaning out, like my whole house……It’s a good time to clean out when the seasons change, and get rid of the pieces you haven’t worn this season. Or when you buy something for Fall, get rid of something you haven’t worn. It’s a good way to keep the wardrobe updated. There are so many places in the Seattle area that take donations, or if you have high end clothing, there are consignment shops as well. There’s nothing better than sharing with others the things you can’t use anymore and then buying new things for yourself! It’s a win, win!

What new sweaters do we have this week?

This week BLU PEPPER brings in the most stylish sweaters. You can view them right from our front window. They are on a rack right next to the mannequins! HEM & THREAD, LOVE TREE, DOUBLE ZERO, and E & M all have some great pieces for Fall fashion as well. We are fully stocked on earrings too that are quite unique!  I really love all those rich colors that Fall always brings. Makes me feel warm and cozy all over. You have to do a little creative thinking to get there with our Summer temps, but you know how fun fashion is in the Fall/ Winter months. I will miss wearing all the Fall fashion, warm coats, soft scarves and hats. Mexico here I come......

With all the construction going in in this town, it has driven many of us to venture out to outlying areas to enjoy other activities. My friends always think it’s so far to drive to Seattle. Many of my them live in Snohomish, Bellevue and Redmond and we always drive there when invited and think nothing of it. My friends are missing out on Meadow Boutique because they won’t drive here. Silly! They always compliment me on my amazing clothes. They like the way I dress. I tell then about Meadow. “That’s so far,” they say. I just shake my head and tell them how much they are missing out. Not all my friends love fashion like I do. Just because we are all 65 now, doesn’t mean we can’t dress to impress! I will love fashion and the art of dressing until the day I die.

If you are in close proximity of Meadow, you are very lucky to be able to take advantage of such a fashion forward boutique with such spectacular prices. It doesn’t matter is you are 14 or 92, there is something for everyone. We even have a SALE rack that always has something marked down every week. There is also a $10 bin below the front table with lots of great finds. Don’t forget to check the sales out when you venture in. You will be glad you did! We are working  on a way for you to leave a message or get a hold of us to hold or inquire about an item you see on the blog. Stay tuned, we will update you with a solution very soon!

We are certainly happy you have found Meadow Boutique, and support us, and come from miles around to shop! We value you and your support. We really can’t say it enough. So… buy those sweaters when you are ready. They will be here waiting. After all, it is almost the end of August. Cooler weather is on it’s way and we want you to be prepared and stylish! Next I will be talking about pumpkin lattes….no, not really! Stay cool my friends! xoxoxoxox

A Little Bit of Fall

August 11, 2023 Shelley Hall

I hate to say it, but there’s some Fall pieces coming in. Not all the pieces, but some are definitely for the weather when we will start feeling the cool. It’ seems to have come so fast. It’s still the beginning of August, so let’s not get ourselves worked up about Fall yet. There’s still plenty of fashion for Summer in the Boutique. I am just preparing you for those sweaters that are on the racks. Like I said, it’s just a few. As the month comes to an end, you will see Fall grace our racks! I am still hoping for some hot days and some barbecues. I am sure we will get some more Summer weather, August is always pretty warm and sunny. I would like to take a jump in the water somewhere, but not sure if it is warm enough. I guess that’s what vacations are for! I can’t wait for my forever vacation to Mexico, I mean retirement. I am enjoying every minute of Seattle right now and wearing all my Summer fun clothes from Meadow. How about you?

Last Friday evening I was driving by the Space Needle and there were movies happening under it at the Mural. Did you know about this? It looks like a fun thing to do during the Summer, and something a little different then the run of the mill Summer activities. There are FREE movies under the Space Needle at the Mural and they’re the perfect plan for a summer night! Movies begin at dusk (about 9pm) Fridays in August. Each feature is preceded by a short film by students at Cornish College for the Arts. So that’s interesting too, seeing something creative by students!

Enjoy a picnic on a gentle slope at the Mural Amphiteather lawn, and watch a delightful movie on a 40-foot screen with the Space Needle looming above. This famous series will include classic and contemporary movies for all ages. This unique event at the Mural is an outdoor cinema experience like no other, and a great opportunity to enjoy Seattle’s nice weather and reunite with friends and family. They recommend bringing low-back chairs, blankets, or bean bags to enjoy comfortable seating and make sure to arrive on time since this will be a first-come, first-served kind of event. Food and beverages will be available in the Seattle Center Armory and at food carts on the grounds before each screening. Here’s the line up in case you want to partake:

August 4 - Clueless August 11 - Jaws August 18 - Dream Girls August 25 - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique:

CHERISH has the most pieces this week with tops and pants and a very versatile jumpsuit. Then we have DOUBLE ZERO which is always a Meadow favorite, with definitely some Fall pieces or end of Summer for cool evenings. That’s what’s nice about these heavier weight pieces is that they will transition nicely in our Seattle weather. MYSTREE has an interesting light jacket, HYFYVE with a corduroy jacket and FANCO with a very feminine bodysuit. We have some cute little zipper bags as well, and fanny bags that will brighten up any outfit as you can see. Get creative - think out of the box. See below for all the fabulous finds!

I am going to sign off for now. Stop by and see us for some Summer wear or some Fall wear. There’s something for everyone. There’s a sale rack with items marked down and also a box with $10 items. You can’t go wrong at Meadow Boutique. It’s the best little Boutique that happened to Queen Anne and it all happened almost 13 years ago. Shelley had a brilliant idea and here we are. She still to this day gets at least 7 new items in a week and up to 15. Yes, every week. That’s the beauty of Meadow, there’s always something new. That’s what kept me coming back before I started working here. I found out when the arrival of new items came in, and I made my way to the boutique to do my shopping. The prices were also a perfect for me, right in my budget. I know it’s the same for all of you. Thanks for hanging in there with us. You certainly make our days more memorable. We will always remember how you stood by us through thick and thin and COVID and fires, and I think that about covers it for now. Love is always in the air for our customers at Meadow…..xoxoxoxo

August Arrivals

August 4, 2023 Shelley Hall

Julia Roberts as Vivian Ward in “Pretty Woman”

It’s August…..already. Amazing, so many “A’s.” August is the month with lots of things going on here in Seattle - my favorite is the Blue Angels flying our friendly skies. I love seeing them high above the clouds in perfect synchronicity to kick off SeaFair. These Blue Angels aren’t just amazing aviation geniuses, they are Ambassadors of Goodwill. I went to the Blue Angels website and found out some interesting information about them, and if you are interested to see their schedule and all they do, click HERE to find out more!

OK, now down to the business of Fashion, right?

The polka dot dress hanging outside is reminding everyone of Pretty Women. Today alone, I have sold 3 already. It’s not exact, but close enough. Not sure if you remember or saw Pretty Woman, but Roberts' Pretty Woman character, Vivian Ward, sported the brown and white polka dot dress for a polo match in the 1990 rom-com on a date with Richard Gere's Edward. It’s an eye catcher because it is out on a rack in front of the store. So stylish with a hat and some kitty heels, a glass of champagne and you have the Julia Roberts look! August is all about dresses. We have a lot of cute dresses right now. I am certain there is one waiting for you! When the weather is warm, dresses are the coolest to wear, it seems.

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

HEM & THREAD, LES AMIS, BLU PEPPER, NEW IN, CHRIS & CAROL and MINE are this weeks front runners for fashion at Meadow Boutique. These brands are some of Meadow’s favorites with great styles and fashion forward pieces that last.

Make the most of this month before the kids go back to school and sports resume. We hope you have been able to enjoy the Summer months with friends and family. I have been cleaning out closets in anticipation of moving in January to Mexico. I will do it again November because as we know, shedding our stuff is a process. Shelley is not going anywhere. She is hoping the building on Crockett and 6th will hurry it up so she can go back to her old home. Shelley has so many plans for re-opening. You just wait and see! I don’t think I will be here when Meadow Boutique reopens, but I am sure it will be a big hit and I will miss being part of it.

It has been such a joy working here for the past 4 years. I have so many great clothes and I have met so many incredible women. For this, I am forever grateful! This week, 3 women have commented on the blog and how much they look forward to getting it every Friday. I have been so honored to do the blog each and every week and get that email to you so you can be the first to see what’s new. This part of my job has been so creative for me. And thank you for always complimenting the blog and enjoying the writing. I am so happy you can relate to it! Every week I always wonder what I am going to write about, and lo & behold something always comes to me. I still have a few months to go, so hang on for the ride! I promise I will keep you informed til the end of my time and then someone new will come along and grab your interest as well. I promise. Meadow is first class when it comes to fashion, and Shelley will make sure someone else will take over the precious blog. Until then….I love you guys. Thank you for caring about Meadow and all of us who hold down the fort. xoxoxoxo

Summer In Seattle

July 28, 2023 Shelley Hall

What about last weekend? There was Taylor Swift, The Bite of Seattle, Barbie Movie, Mariners games, Capital Hill Block Party, 520 Bridge Closure, 4 Cruise Liners in town……have I covered everything? There was so much traffic and people in town, it was excruciating. There was nothing great about COVID except there was no traffic in Seattle. Do you remember those days? Such a distant memory, but I miss those days of so very few people on the road, like we lived in back woods Kansas.

My husband and I decided to walk down to the Pike Place Market on Sunday for a cappuccino. We were not driving anywhere. There was so many people walking around, it was crazy. Duh, it’s Summer in Seattle! We could hardly make it through the crowds. All the coffee shops were packed so we decided to see if the Secret Garden had reopened. If you don’t know where it is, not sure I want to tell you because, yeah, its a secret! LOL. It was open and no one was there. Next door there was a French restaurant with a covered patio. It looked inviting so we decided to try it. What an amazing afternoon! The view was brilliant and the waiter was very French. We ordered a charcuterie board and a nice wine with a beautiful dressed salad and enjoyed the fabulous afternoon. Before leaving, there was a real cappuccino and a creme brûlée we decided we needed to top off the afternoon. The restaurant patio wasn’t crowded and it was such a beautiful Summer day in Seattle! I now remember what the weather is like here during Summer. Everywhere else in the US is stifling hot. We have the best temperatures for sure! So, find a place to enjoy it, hide away amongst the crowds, it is possible. Enjoy these beautiful days, because before you know it, Summer will be over. I am savoring every beautiful day right now, because I won’t be here next year at this time, I will be in Mexico.

How’s your clothes situation? Do you have enough great fashion to wear this Summer? We have so many cute dresses right now and fun Summer tops. We have all kinds of pieces to add to your wardrobe. You must stop by! We have amazing colors too and many unique pieces you don’t see around town. Shelley has a way of bringing you the best fashion she can find. This blog will show you what’s new every week. As usual, smalls go very quickly. Unfortunately, we do not have a phone at Wink Hair Studio, so you can’t call us to hold items. You must come in and grab what you want. We are so conveniently located in Queen Anne, a couple doors down from Macrina, Ken's Market, and across the street from Malena's Tacos. You can make a day of it! Plus, it's very walkable up on Queen Anne so you can leisurely stroll through the streets and stop by Meadow for some retain therapy. I don't know about you, but I always need that kind of therapy. We would love to see you, so put us on your route! We always light up when we see your smiling faces and hearing about your Summer activities.

What’s NEW this week at Meadow Boutique?

We have pieces from LOVE TREE, MINE, CHRIS & CAROL, DOUBLE ZERO, BLU PEPPER, MILLIBON, BY THE RIVER, EMERALD SUNDAY, and KAN CAN Denim. You can see below all of our great fashion and better yet all of our great prices! Check out the photos below and judge for yourself and then come in to see what they look like on that beautiful body of yours!

Hope you all enjoying your Summer and doing lots of fun things around town. There’s plenty to do in Seattle, that’s for sure. The kids are out of school but I am sure they are in sports camps and other Summer activities. We hope you are able to get away for some long weekends or a short vacation with or without kids. We have seen plenty of family members visiting our customers. You have brought them in to shop, so thanks for that. That’s been fun to meet them and see those of you who always shop at Meadow when you come into town each year. Some of you have gone to our other location, but you still found us at our pop-up at Wink Hair Studio. No matter the situation, we are extremely glad we are able to see you and your loved ones and all of our new friends that have been newly introduced to us. We are still here after 13 years and we plan to be here many more. Thank you, Thank you for hanging in here with us! Believe me, it does not go unnoticed. xoxoxo

More Fashion To Love

July 21, 2023 Shelley Hall

More, More and More Fashion for Summer; and Summer evenings when it sometimes and I said sometimes, gets cooler. These days are so nice and warm. We are lucky that we have temperatures that are doable and not sweltering like in other states right now. Seattle has the best Summers. I suppose that’s why we have so many visitors during this time. I see them everywhere and they look happy with our weather and they seem to think Seattle is the best. Little do they know, if we had weather like this all the time, our population would triple. Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Facebook have brought in enough people as far as I can see. Our city is booming and building and I think I will stop here…… With this kind of weather comes fun things to do in Seattle, like remember The Bite of Seattle?

The Bite of Seattle, one of Seattle’s most iconic food festivals, returns this summer to Seattle Center after a three-year hiatus. Over 500,000 guests will enjoy an elevated experience and taste bites from 200 of the region’s finest restaurant and specialty food purveyors. Seattle's premier foodie festival, The Bite of Seattle, returns July 21, 22, and 23 at Seattle Center and celebrates its 38th year! Featuring 200 vendors, 50+ musical performances, beer gardens, and more, Bite of Seattle is fun for all ages. Festival goers will enjoy bites from local restaurants using the CHEQ app to place mobile orders. For additional information about The Bite of Seattle, please visit www.biteofseattle.com/ or follow them on Instagram, @BiteOfSeattle.

I can tell you this….....you are going to need something cute to wear for this event. It’s outdoors and you will be having fun in the sun, eating and enjoying Seattle’s best food and drink. There will be MUSIC as well, with a festival lineup including performances by Sir Mix-A-Lot and Polyrhythmics. The weather forecast shows the temps are in the high 70’s. Perfect, right? We have the most fashionable attire at Meadow for this event. I promise. Dresses, shorts, tanks, fanny pack bags, earrings, tops, jeans, light sweaters, crops, a little of this and a little of that. Picture perfect fashion for the day! So happy the Bite is Back!

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

There’s GILLI, SUGARLIPS, MYSTREE, HYFVE, LES AMIS, HEM & THREAD, POLAGRAM and DOUBLE ZERO. Like I said, a little of this and a little of that! All great choices for the Summer of fun and events. We know you need something new. That’s why we are here and will always be. Meadow is a place where you can find fashion like what you see below. New pieces every week, only 6 and typically no reorders except for Dreamers sweaters, some denim and bags.

Shelley always seems to find unique pieces you don’t see around town. She has quite the eye for fashion, in case you haven’t noticed. Some of you never stopped by our Meadow space on Crockett and 6th. It was huge, like 1200 sq. ft. We had so many interesting pieces and so much space. Many of you have been visiting Meadow since we first opened, 13 years ago, and then we have many new customers who ventured down to our other space and were delighted to find us now. Everyone has questions about Meadow Boutique. The general consensus is that the clothes are lovely and the quality is superb. I have seen many of you come back again and again every week without fail. You always find something that makes you happy and enhances your physique. For this, we are extremely grateful. Meadow is a small, woman owned business, and much smaller now in the pop-up. Your support is so very important to us and we really appreciate your patronage, your kindness and most of all your friendship. So please stop by, get your Summer on, and enjoy all the happenings in Seattle. This is the best time of year here, so please take the time to enjoy every minute of it! xoxoxoxo

Summer Time Arrivals

July 14, 2023 Shelley Hall

It’s Summer and time to make sure we have all of our Summer time essentials. With warmer weather comes a shift in our approach to dressing. Every year, the first few days of summer feel eternal and unfamiliar. There’s a sense that the season will never end but also that it’s never existed—as if none of us have ever felt the humid air sticking to our freckled, sunburnt skin. That sense of newness seems to apply to our wardrobes, too. The perfect summer outfit is more of a feeling than a trend, and it’s one we want to capture before the season is really in full swing.

What do you feel like wearing this season? Shorts, rompers, dresses, tanks, jeans, jumpsuits? Whatever you decide, we have it at Meadow Boutique. I promise you that. The Boutique is full of Summer from one side of the shop to the other. Every week there is something new to try and pieces like you have never seen around town. That’s the beauty of Meadow, six of each, and never the same pieces over and over again. There’s never a worry of being caught with the same piece someone else has on in town. And the prices, let’s not forget about that. It’s so nice to be able to buy some clothes that don’t break the bank, especially for Summer! I never spend a lot of money on clothes because I wear them for a few years and then donate them. I have worked at Meadow for 4 years and the majority of my wardrobe has come from Meadow, no regrets, oh how I will miss working here…….but all my Summer wear will travel with me to Mexico. And when I come to visit family in Seattle, where do you think I will shop? That’s a no-brainer. I am a Meadow customer for life!

What’s new for Summer at Meadow Boutique this week?

RISEN Jeans has 2 colors that are quite Summer-y. There is a pink and green pair with a flare and cut off at the bottoms. Super cute and stylish for Summer. ZENANA has a super trendy utility romper that could have a place in your wardrobe. JODIFL has a lovely, red bold top that reminds me of the Hawaiian Islands. LES AMIS with a floral top that matches perfectly with any bottoms like shorts or jeans. GILLI with its signature rompers, jumpsuits and dresses. These pieces are so flattering and never wrinkle when packed away in your suitcase for any weekend getaway, or trip to some foreign lands!

OK friends - time to end this little blog. We will be looking for you to stop by and see what you can find to add to your Summer wardrobe. We are here at Wink, and we will be here for a bit. Many of you ask about the building we were in previously and when we will return. We will head back there when it is fixed up and ready for us to assume our space that we were in for 13 years. We will always keep you updated! Until then, we are at Wink and will be here for your shopping pleasure! Thank you for sharing your dismay of what happened, but we are extremely grateful we still have a presence in Queen Anne. This is where Shelley started, and this is where she will continue….rest assured! Thank you for your continuing support! It means the world to us. If we can make it through COVID, we can make it through anything, right? With you by you side, we believe that anything is possible! xoxoxoxo

Cool Whites For Summer

July 7, 2023 Shelley Hall

Here we are engaged in the beautiful days of Summer. The weather is unbelievable. You might wonder why I always talk about the weather in Seattle. I think I have said before that I really light up when there’s sunshine. It changes my whole outlook on life.

I moved here when I was 14 from the midwest, it was 1975. I was amazed about the size of the trees and the style of the houses. When I was young I didn’t notice how much it rained. As I got older I noticed. The months of drizzling rain got to be too much. We left every February for a beach somewhere in world. So when my husband was offered a job in Denver, we jumped at the opportunity. All we could think about was the 320 days of sun a year. We lived in Denver for 15 years and while there was not very much green like in Seattle, there was sun. There was no ocean, but there were rivers and lakes. Everyday no matter how cold it was - it was sunny! People were nicer, people were happier and people were smiling. Long story short, sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy. That’s a John Denver song, I think. I have often thought of getting a tattoo of a sunshine on my shoulder. With this amazing weather we are having now, I am sporting an amazingly lovely disposition!

I have been told all my life that wearing white will keep you nice and cool. With so many mixed messages surrounding how to wear white, when you can wear white, and how you should do it, it’s no wonder that so many of us seek the comfort of a dark color palette. Forget everything you’ve heard about these pseudo-stringent rules (“no white after Labor Day,” etc.), and embrace wearing fresh whites at any point during the year. Yes, summer whites may be the most intuitive, as they include the breezy linens like button-down shirts and the cotton dresses we typically take with us to the beach. We love how layering different shades of white and eggshell make for a fresh combo, no matter which dates our calendars display.

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

This week we have lots of white pieces to add to your wardrobe. All different Summer whites for you to try. The beauty of white, is that all colors go with it perfectly, right? LOVE TREE, 7th RAY, HEM & THREAD, CHARLOTTE AVERY and GILLI are all here this week. Most of them with a white something in the mix. See below and you will see! There is also your favorite black and blues. We have you covered!

There is always something for everyone at Meadow. The prices, hands down, are the best on the hill. I have shopped the hill and I know. We have so many lovely shops on Queen Anne, that’s for sure. Many of you come in and are amazed at the prices. Shelley knows how to shop the best pieces and with 14 years under her belt, she knows what her customers want. She shops for you to keep the prices down without taking away from the quality of the garment. Shelley’s a genius when it comes to Fashion. So on that note, we can’t wait to see you this week, looking for that white piece or just stopping by to say hello! Get your whites while you can, stay cool and enjoy this beautiful Summer! xoxoxoxo

Colors of Freedom

June 30, 2023 Shelley Hall

Colors of Freedom? That would be red, white and blue!  We have plenty of these colors right now in the Boutique. You must come and see what we have hanging on our racks for this holiday weekend! Soon fireworks will be flying high in the skies to celebrate our independence. Why not wear those colors with pride?  Beyond this holiday these colors will work for Summer, they are light and bright and warm and fuzzy, trust me!

I would venture to say we have a lot of freedom. The five basic rights of our freedoms protects: speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. Together, these five guaranteed freedoms make the people of the United States of America the freest in the world. Let’s not forget this and let’s be kind to others opinions and feelings. We will never agree on everything and that is OK. At least in my younger years, it use to be OK. These days it seems we have lost a bit of our ability to be more kind and considerate of each other and who we are as individuals. So, on this Independence Day, let us all be a good family member, friend and neighbor, and embrace the freedom we have! Bring on the Fireworks! Celebrate each other and our Freedom!

If you are looking for a place to watch fireworks and other festivities, check this website for all the firework happenings around town: Secret Seattle

If you walked by our door on Tuesday and Wednesday at Meadow Pop-Up, we had a very stunning boho dress and top in red and white. These 2 pieces were a super fun match together or separate if you so desire. I tried them on and thought the pieces would be perfect for July 4th! I could be the bell of the ball for sure. I picked up the floral red dress (already sold out practically) and added the top that is striped red and white with red bows in the back. I turned the back to the front, and voila, you have quite the trendy outfit. I bought it and I am wearing it that way! Red lipstick and I’m as good as fireworks at a 4th of July barbecue.

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

There’s a variety of different labels this week with great pieces. HEM & THREAD, EN CREME, CHARLOTTE AVERY, BLU PEPPER, BLU IVY, SUNDAY UP, LALA FACTORY and TNR Denim. BEAST Black slip-ons have been added to our shoes. Easy to wear and they go with Summer fashion! This week everything seems so timeless. Crochet is the word for this week. We have quite a few crochet pieces that are really fun to add to fashion you already have. Get creative! I have worn pieces like this throughout my life and loved every minute of the styles. Check out the pieces below, there are so many ways to interchange them. I have only showed you one way, but my mind was spinning with other ideas. Shelley had quite a few different ideas for those crochet pieces.

You must come by and pick up the colors of the flag for your 4th of July event. We are here to help you find the perfect match. So many cute pieces for the young, the old and everything in-between. Can you believe our Summer has started before the 4th of July this year? We are having amazing weather for the week ahead. Get out there and enjoy it! When you walk by, be sure to stop in and have a look. You will like what you see. We promise it will be like explosions of our freedom of reds, whites and blues. xoxoxoxo

Summer. It’s Official!

June 23, 2023 Shelley Hall

It’s absolutely, positively, officially Summer! Are you happy? Are you excited for some nice weather? We sure are! There is nothing better than Summer in Seattle. I know I have said it time and time again. It’s so true, and this year I shall cherish it more than ever because next year I will be in a place that it will be Summer all year round. I use to make fun of those snowbirds that would go somewhere warm in the Winters. I never understood why they would leave their home to go somewhere warm……but now I do.

The colors of Summer are so fun and exciting. For some of us, they are shocking from our normal black, beige and grey. We have those colors at Meadow just in case you can’t make the change, but we would love to see you venture out in some other colors that make you feel like sunshine. You should stop by and see what we have, try something on and see how you feel. Pink is a color that I have recently tried. It was quite bright and I was skeptical when I put the pink top on with my jeans. There were different shades of pink in the top so it went well with my skin tone, etc. Every time I passed by a mirror I had to do a double take, but then there were compliments. Compliments go a long way when you are unsure, right? Needless to say, I made it through the day and decided that adding some color wasn’t so bad. Now, a few times a week I am getting away from that black, grey and beige. It makes make-up kind of fun too. I am also adding some brighter lipstick colors to what I have to brighten things up as well. So, at 65, if I can try something new, so can you and when I say new, I mean new as in color!

Which leads us to what’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

BE COOL with the colors that we all seem to wear in Seattle. GILLI has some delightful jumpsuits in a lovely green floral and a black and white floral. JOLIE has a wrap, tiered dress that has some interesting fabric in the tiered areas. Really cute with a slight open back. CES FEMME with a colorful, coral, spunky dress. INA with a light coral, eyelet skirt. Then, last but not least, DREAMERS sweaters in lots of great colors. As we know, we still need a little something in the evenings to throw on when it’s cool. Just have a look below and see all the fun fashion Meadow continues to carry for your buying pleasure.

For many of you, your kids will be out of school soon, vacations will ensue and life and the weather will be spectacular. Don’t forget to stop by to pick up some Summer attire from Meadow. There’s a ton of Summer concerts as well and they are right down the street at Climate Pledge. We keep getting new merchandise in every week so you are sure to find something that will work for any event or festivity you may be involved in. So easy just to pop in and find something!  We will be happy to help you. We may have a small space but we are packed with lots of great fashion that we know will suit you just fine. OK - it’s a deal. We look forward to seeing you very, very soon. Try something new….you know, preferably color! xoxoxox

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time. ~ John Lubbock

Dressing Up For Dads

June 16, 2023 Shelley Hall

You know its time to look at Dad this weekend and put him on that sky high pedestal. Father’s Day is a time for people to celebrate the men in their lives. For children, it is a day to show appreciation for their fathers and father-figures. For adults, it is a day to show much they love and appreciate the hard work of the fathers and husbands in their lives.

There are a variety of ways we can celebrate our fathers. We can purchase them special gifts, take them to see their favorite baseball team, give them a day to spend on the golf course, or simply buy a card that tells them how awesome they are. Another way to celebrate Father’s day is to host a cookout for all the fathers in the family (e.g., brothers, uncles, and grandfathers). If you do not live close to family, you can also host a neighborhood block party to celebrate the fathers in the neighborhood or gather with a few close friends who are fathers.

Oftentimes, we think of mothers as sentimental, but fathers like to hear how much their children love them and why they think their fathers are great. They like to be the superheroes in the story—the ones who save the day and make their children’s and spouse’s lives better. That’s not hard to do, right? Telling our fathers how much they mean to us not only makes them feel good but it warms our heart too!

We think you need to dress up and celebrate, no matter what Father’s Day is for your family. We have lots of great pieces at Meadow Boutique that would suit the days events. We also have Father’s Day cards you could grab on the way out out the door after finding that outfit. The weather is back to our typical June weather for Seattle, so we have all kinds of pieces to accommodate. We know you will be able to find something. We will certainly be glad to help you!

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week:

This is the biggest delivery we have had to date since we have been at Wink Hair Studio. MINE with so many feminine tops with lace and embroidery and flowers and color, so beautiful! 2HEARTS with light weight dresses in black and white, square neck and round. They are the perfect weight for Summer. Then you have CHERISH and SM WARDROBE and IN THE BEGINNING and NEW IN and CHRIS & CAROL and now I am out of breath. Just check out the photos below and you will clearly see that there is something to wear for any occasion you will be having with your father this weekend. There’s pieces to dress up or to go casual, whatever you prefer. You get to chose.

We hope your festivities with all your dad-types go well this weekend. What would we do without those men in our lives who loved us and watched us grow. Studies show that a dad’s involvement in a child’s life between the ages of birth - 5 can help them grow up to be secure and confident individuals. Dads’ are so important, so make sure you shower them with all your love and care on their special day! And make sure you wear something stunning….. and you know where you can pick something up, right? It begins with the letter “M” xoxoxoxo
