Meadow Boutique Love

About 3 years ago I stumbled upon Meadow Boutique by accident. I had visited the shops on Queen Anne Avenue when I moved back to Seattle, but the prices were a bit high for me. My hairdresser at the time, across the street from the boutique, told me to go in and have a look. Well, needless to say, I became a regular customer like all of you. I found myself going in weekly to see what was new. I had never been to a small shop that stocked new pieces every week. I was in heaven. Every time I went into Meadow, I always found something I wanted to buy. To top it all off, Shelley, Francine and Lindsay were the nicest people ever and so helpful. Coming from a Nordstrom background that exemplifies customer service, I was in awe with the way they treated their customers. It’s nice to be told the truth about something you are trying on and if it looks OK. I appreciate that and I know you do too!

One day, as all the stars aligned, I had heard that maybe there was going to be an opening for a sales associate. I thought long and hard about what I could contribute to Meadow. I told Shelley I would love to work there. The rest is history. I have been at Meadow Boutique for almost a year and I still love going there and helping all of you. I love writing for this blog and taking photos so you can see what’s new every week. It really gets my creative juices flowing and gets me excited about the new arrivals.

The reason I tell this story is because I truly believe we all have a story about Meadow. I also know we have time these days to think about our lives and what we are grateful for. Customers come in everyday telling me how comfortable they are being in the store with all of our social distancing and mask wearing. You rave about the styles and the prices. Some of the funnest times at Meadow are when women find the perfect jeans when they haven’t worn jeans in years. Not only are you buying one pair, you are buying three!

This week is no different with great fashion. We have some fab new summer dresses, stylish tank tops, bell bottom sailor pants, faded distressed Nature jeans and restocked by popular demand are the Nature dark wash button fly denim, some stylish Risen jeans and last but not least, some new pleated masks for kids and adults and hand sanitizer. Come on in and grab what you need while you can. Seems like everyone wants to go shopping these days after spending so much time indoors. It can be a shopping frenzy at Meadow Boutique some days! We love seeing you for sure, so don’t hesitate to stop by!

I just want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you and support Shelley and her amazing boutique. We mean it when we say we appreciate you. Summer Dreams

Our dreams of getting back to what we called real life have possibly changed. You can't go out like before, meet or hug people, or travel. On top of it, the virus epidemic is making people have weird dreams. No, we aren't kidding. That being said, here are the most common dreams people across the globe are currently experiencing.

1. Going back to your childhood/comfort place - When people dream about going back to the one place that soothes them or makes them feel safe, i.e., gives them "comfort."

2. Dreams about gatherings - Perhaps the most common and the most relatable ones, a lot of people, having been placed in lockdown are edging to go out, meet friends or indulge in activities we so freely did in the past without a care. 

3. Dreams of missing your favorite food or snack - The pandemic had led to the sale and supply of only essential survival products right now. Naturally, that means some of your favorite comfort foods, or what you would be usually eating from your favorite restaurants might not be available.

4. Dreams of shopping and buying things for ourselves - We have felt that we will never be able to get new clothing, try things on or pick up items at the store without jeopardizing our health. What stores/shops can we go to and feel comfortable and safe?

Meadow Boutique has taken all the precautions to keep you safe. All customers MUST wear masks to shop with us. We have hand sanitizer throughout the store for your own personal use. We have signs posted to remind everyone of social distancing. We steam all items that have been tried on before we return them to the racks. You are safe in our hands, we promise!

This week at Meadow Boutique, we have the perfect joggers in 3 colors for that everyday, casual wear. Articles of Society have whipped up so very flattering tank tops to pair with those joggers. We have 2 kinds of shorts you will be enticed to try on. These are the last shorts we will obtain in for the season, so come in and grab a pair now. There are two kinds of lightweight kimonos with beautiful flower patterns, so light and airy for the Summer. We have some trucker hats that have gone to a whole new level. I love them. They are a test for us, so if you love them as much as we do - let us know so we can order more of these gems. The patterns on them are pretty trendy and will be fun to wear. Masks seem to be part of our reality these days and we have more of them as well. They keep getting more fun with many lovely designs. Pick one up to match your favorite outfit.

Weekend Fun in the Sun

The sun will shine this weekend. After all, the day after the 4th of July, Summer suddenly shows up. Just like it has been here all along. We Seattleites have more appreciation for sun than most people. In fact, I read that people in Seattle buy the most sunglasses per capita. I thought that sounded odd until I realized how I will buy a pair when the sun comes out for real, then put them somewhere when the sun disappears, and not remember where I put them, and buy another pair when the sun returns. It all adds up now, right? I am certain that most of us have numerous pairs of sunglasses for this reason. Speaking of sunglasses, we have many different colors and styles at Meadow Boutique for only $12. So if you lose them, it won’t be that big of a deal to grab another pair. One thing I do know, is that when it is sunny here, it is sure hard to beat the beauty that surrounds us in Washington! We hope the sun shines brightly on all your festivities this weekend!

Let’s cool off……This week we have more striped and solid colored tanks. We can never have enough tanks to add to our wardrobe. One in every color makes life much more interesting. The cut is asymmetrical and so stylish. Pair them with shorts or jeans or even dare to add a bralette to your outfit to give it that little extra something. We have some very cute bralettes this week with interesting styles of lace trim in different fabrics that you will love. We’ve added a couple of dresses in a solid and print that are truly a game changer. The tops that came in this week are very bohemian. The backs of them are open with a little tie or a criss-cross, one with bell sleeves, oh my, oh my, so darn lovely. There’s some totes as well, that will help you carry your goods from place to place. With a whole new shipment of earrings, it will be easy to doll up any outfit you put together this weekend! This is the weekend of fun in the sun!

If you need to take a hostess or friend a little gift, we have some great artistic vases, flowered zipper pouches from designer Dana Herbert, soap dishes and Amy Heitman notepads. It’s a nice way of saying thank you to that special person for celebrating with you this weekend. We want to give you a friendly reminder, only cause we care about you, to wear your masks and keep on social distancing with those around you this weekend. It’s always good to be respectful of each other in this situation. You have been there for us, through thick and thin, and there are no words that could ever sum up what that means to us here at Meadow Boutique. Red, White, Blue & You

We know the 4th of July is right around the corner. This year, the summer season begins on June 21st, but for many Americans, summer doesn't feel quite like it has arrived until the fourth of July decorations come out around the neighborhood. Independence Day is a day of family celebrations with picnics and barbecues, showing a great deal of emphasis on the American tradition of political freedom. Activities associated with the day include watermelon or hotdog eating competitions and sporting events, such as baseball games, three-legged races, swimming activities and tug-of-war games. So many things we can do together on this day to show our patriotism and have a little fun while we are at it! We hope you and your family enjoy next weekend together with whatever you have planned. Happy Red, White and Blue!

Speaking of patriotism……This week we have a few tops with stars in red or blue. So cute and so subtle. They will go with your favorite pair of shorts or jeans or even a fun little skirt. These comfy tops are great way to show your independence! We also received a large color palette of v-neck tank tops. And for all you Dreamers fans, we have 4 new colors in for those cooler nights in the backyard or some sweatshirts that remind us of sherbet colors, if you happen to be out camping in beautiful Washington State. It’s always nice to throw a sweatshirt in the mix if you are feeling a chill on one of those starry nights. I love the red and white polka dot romper we got in this week - oh so fun and flirty! There’s also a long dress with straps or not - just in case you want to tan those shoulders. We are sure that there’s something here for you at Meadow Boutique that you can’t live without for this 4th of July holiday!

We are open Tuesday thru Thursday from 12-5 and Friday and Saturday from 12-6, Sunday 12-5. Our hours are changing a little bit so please make a note. We will get back to our regular hours as soon as we are able!

Summer is Here!

June 20th comes, and Summer is here, just like that. This year has gone very fast even though our pace has slowed down. The festivals, summer camps and fireworks displays have all changed direction and some things cancelled. So what will Summer look like for you this year? It certainly will different than previous years. One thing we know we will do this weekend is honor our dear old dads, make sure they know they are loved. We will find ways to celebrate with them in whatever way we see fit. We extend good wishes to all the dads out there that have made us who we are with their love and guidance. Father’s Day is a great day to dress up and show your dad how much you care!

An evening outdoor barbecue is a good way to start off the summer. We have stylish pieces that will entice you to be outside every chance you get. We have you covered with our amazing new arrivals. Think about all the times we love to just throw on a jumpsuit and head out the door. We have some pretty cute ensembles for the Summer weather heading our way. Meadow has some dresses that will take you back in time and some kimonos to throw over those shorts and tops when the day comes to an end and the nights feel cooler. Remember clogs? Well, we have those too - but in an updated 2020 kind of way. The colors are so neutral they will pair with anything in the Boutique this week. Just know that the sizes are limited, so if you want them, get in and grab them up. You will totally love what we have to offer, I promise you. Oh and one more thing, our prices are beyond belief. You can come on in and stock up for Summer without breaking the bank.

Thank you for being so kind as to follow our restrictions that we have in place so we can be open to the public. We have more masks to chose from as well. Sometimes it’s hard to not let everyone in at once, but you all have been very respectful and patient if you have to stand outside for a minute. Thank you for that. It has been so fun to catch up with you all again in between the mask arranging and the hand sanitizer. “We Are All In This Together” and we couldn’t think of any better people we would rather be with!

Happy. Joyous. Grateful.

There are no words to express how happy, joyous and grateful we all are at Meadow Boutique. We can finally open our doors and see your smiling eyes after all this time! We closed in March and have been doing curbside pickup, but it is not the same. We value the human connection we have with our customers. We always look forward to seeing each and every one of you and catching up on our lives, family, etc. We do have to follow some guidelines, but they are such small concessions when you look at the scheme of things. Here is what it looks like for now, because as we know, things are constantly changing. You can count on us to keep you updated as we obtain the information that allows us to be in operation.

• Please know we can only have 4 people in the boutique at a time.

• Please try to social distance as much as possible.

• Please use our hand sanitizer anytime; we have it at the front door and our checkout counter.

• Above all, please smile at us with your eyes!

Our hours have changed a bit, so make a note that we are open for now from Tuesday - Sunday from 12-5. The boutique is fully stocked and if you have seen pieces that you wondered about in previous blog posts, you may still find them. Wander around and have a look. Your support is appreciated! We could not reopen without you.

Top It Off For Summer

We hope you all have made it through another week. It has been an interesting one for sure. I think 2020 will go down in the history books and you will have lived through it to tell about it. Our world has been turned upside down and all around and we are still standing through the pandemic and the protests. There is a saying that will always ring true and that is, “ We are all in this together.” Those words give us hope and we need all the hope we can get right now. At Meadow Boutique, we want you to know you are not alone and we have some new arrivals we think you will cheer you up! Let’s get your mind thinking about some fun stuff like fashion and new clothes for a minute. Not to say that what is going on in the world is not important but sometimes we need a break from all the noise and the media to just have a little fun.

Last week we were all about dresses, and this week we’re all about tops. Not just any old tops, cute stylish tops with lovely patterns and flattering lines. We also threw a couple of dresses in the mix just for fun. Some of the styles remind me when I was young, OK that was the 60’s so I will just stop there. I do love how styles come back even better than before. The colors are vibrant and the florals are so colorful. I would say these tops are statement pieces, depending on how you style them. You have to see for yourself. You will be surprised, and who doesn't like surprises?

Let's Dress You Up!

Dresses are the talk of the town this week. It’s time to feel lighter in the warmth of the sunshine. Summer is June 20th, so it is time to get our dresses in a row! We can wear dresses with sandals, flip flops or some cute tennies. These frocks are very versatile and can be dressed up or down, depending on your mood of course The styles are a little vintage, or a little modern, you chose. Nonetheless, there is one that you will fall in love with and it will be your “go to” for the Summer. After all, when things loosen up and we can go out and about a bit, it will feel good to look good! Meadow Boutique is dedicated to keeping you in style! We have more masks in stock as well. Memorial Weekend Arrivals

Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service for our country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. In other words, the purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.  We spend time remembering those who lost their lives and could not come home, reflecting on their service and why we have the luxury and freedom that we enjoy today. We might consider how we can support and safeguard their grieving families and loved ones who are left behind. We are grateful to all the service men and women who helped keep us safe and we honor any of your family members that served!

Meadow Boutique has a few new arrivals this week to help you celebrate how ever you chose on this holiday weekend. We have some fashion pieces that are perfect for any indoor or outdoor activity you may be invited to attend, with social distancing of course. Some lovely jumpsuits that can be paired with a light sweater if it cools off or a scarf to take your outfit to the next level of sassy. We have some shorter length dresses, one with a fun tapered bottom and the other in a babydoll style, along with some black drawstring pants that will go with anything. We finally received our dark and light wash, button fly, Nature Jeans. We are ecstatic - so please get them before the sizes run low. A couple of pairs of sandals flew in the door finally, as we have been waiting for them, oh so patiently. We received more masks in some delightful colors and some scrunchies as well. Who knew that masks would turn into a fashion statement. Not to rush you or anything, but supplies are limited, so jump on anything that you see on this blog that will make you feel special this weekend.

All About May

So wonderful to have the weather changing! The days are getting longer with more light in the morning and evening. I love getting up early and hearing the birds sing and when the day is over, watching the sun go down over the horizon. The air is clean and we are so lucky to live in a place where water is close by. We know that Summer is right around the corner. Dig out the sandals and the fun dresses and shorts and skirts and hats and everything that makes you feel like warm weather. We, at Meadow Boutique, can’t wait! Our new arrivals will show you how much we are looking forward to this season. In more ways than one. Hopefully, when the numbers are right, we will be able to open like before and see each other again. We want to catch up with you and hear all about your adventures during this COVID19. The Day for Mothers

Mother’s Day became an official US holiday in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as a day of "public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country." When the holiday first caught on, people celebrated by attending church and writing appreciative letters to their mothers. Later, sending cards and giving presents and flowers were incorporated into the tradition. Moms can be the backbone of the household, cooking, fixing up the house and shopping for the family. So on Sunday, it's mom's turn to be taken care of. How will you take care of your mom this Mother’s Day?

On Mother’s Day 2020, perhaps more than ever, our mothers deserve a great day of their own. If you have a mom, do your part this year—from whatever social distance is required, show her how much you love her!

Cherishing Our Mothers

Mother's Day is an annual reminder to cherish the relationship you have with your mom. Given this year's unique circumstances, many of us are celebrating the holiday at home or even, away from the women — moms, grandmas, aunts, you name it — that we love most. For that reason, some Mother's Day traditions like spa days and fancy dinners feel next-to-impossible this May. But remember, Mother's Day isn't canceled; in fact, the sentiment behind the holiday is more meaningful than ever before. Here are some ideas for your Mother! With some creativity and preparation, you can give your mom the Mother's Day she deserves — and, let's face it — needs during quarantine.

These ideas don't require you or your mom to get too close, so you can continue to practice social distancing and stay safe. 

1. Serve her breakfast in bed. Start her day on the right note by showing up at her door with a tray full of pancakes, eggs, or any other brunch favorites.

2. Deck out her front door with a Spring wreath. When you drop off her Mother's Day card and gift, take some extra time to dress up her door with a spring wreath. 

3. Take an online cooking class together. With a virtual cooking class, you can get the whole family to pitch in for her Mother's Day brunch or dinner.

4. Host a virtual happy hour. Raise a glass to the woman who raised you — the virtual way on Zoom.

5. Learn a new craft or skill. Think of a craft or project she's always wanted to try, and round up all the necessary supplies in time for Mother's Day.

Earth Day Florals

Yesterday, April 22 was EarthDay! Even though we can't celebrate our planet with community tree plantings, cleanups and national park visits this year, there are outdoor activities to enjoy within the vicinity of your home that are good for the planet and good for your health. You can walk or cycle in your neighborhood, read about bees in your backyard, tend to your garden, plant a tree or even meditate outdoors or do yoga! How we celebrated Earth Day this year may be unusual, but there's no shortage of enjoyable activities that are good for your health and the planet and that will keep you safe during a pandemic. We are all in this together!

We have a few things this week to add to the mix and brighten up your wardrobe. Some floral tops, a tapered skirt, island shorts, a bright flowery dress, scrunchies and face masks. Who thought face masks would be so fashionable? We certainly didn’t, but they are popping up everywhere to remind us that we have to do our part! They seem to come in every color imaginable. My Leggings. My Life.

It’s a beautiful April, the skies are clear and the air is fresh and clean. Everyday we find a way to keep going and find the new normal. We miss dressing up, going to work, volunteering at the kids school or meeting friends for happy hour. We know this too shall pass, but somedays are tough. We hope you are finding joy somehow and feeling grateful for the gifts you do have! We have found our list getting longer each day by counting our blessings.

My husband came home from work, (he is an essential worker) the other day and said that all the women he is seeing out and about, dress exactly like me. I think you know what that means - leggings, leggings and more leggings. I wake up and put them on, I do my morning walk with them on, I go through my day with them on. Sound familiar? They are so comfortable and cute these days and as you can see below we have super fun colors and patterns. I really would like one of each, but hey, I am giving you first dibs. You can’t beat the prices so scoop some up for your everyday wardrobe! We have a couple of great basic t-shirts that are a little longer in length so they will go perfect with any of these leggings. And then to top it off, a couple of simple dresses you can throw on in a hurry and look like you are very well put together!

Some Kind of Wonderful

The days have been sunny and the weather seems to be getting warmer. We are able to take a breath and go outside for a bit - staying clear of others as to adhere to social distancing. The people in our family who we have been with us is a different story. We get to keep them close. Our pets are really quite comforting in these times. They snuggle with us and can’t believe we are with them so much more. People are still diving into cooking, Zooming, painting, writing, the list is never ending. Funny how so much good can come out of quarantine. I would have never known all my hidden talents if it weren’t for these times. So stay safe my friends as we will keep you close in our hearts until we can meet again.

This week we have some beautiful, Spring/Summer scarves with some amazing colors and tassels on the bottom that swing in the cool breeze. We even have a t-shirt that fits these times reading, “Keep Calm And Wash Your Hands.” Now this is a T-shirt you won’t forget! The stunning pink and red dress with an asymmetrical hemline……makes me want to watch it flow along side me with every step. There’s a lightweight sweater that looks hand-painted. There are so many lovely flowers on tops and dresses and even some leggings. I am going to stop chatting it up about everything and ask you to look below so you can just see for yourself. And April Arrives

We want you to know that we hope you and your families are staying healthy and safe. We are all in this together! With all the tragic things that are happening in the world as a result of the coronavirus, now might seem like an unusual time to talk about being positive. Yet staying positive is a core ingredient in the recipe of successful coping in a crisis. Here are 3 things that you can be reminded of that might help: Savor the small moments; strengthen your connections; look for the good in others.

Every dark cloud has a silver lining and this is your chance to thicken that lining and take charge of your mental health so that you come out of this experience stronger. Mentally some of us feel better when we can buy something for ourselves. It gives us Joy and makes us feel worth it. We aren’t going anywhere these days except to the store or to walk our dog or a short little exercise. But we do have to wake up every morning and put on our best face, get dressed, and keep things going in our household.

Many people are using their creative juices to connect. I have been to dance parties, coffee mornings and happy hours on ZOOM. I have to say it has been a lot of fun and has lifted my spirits. At Meadow Boutique we are thinking of some creative and innovative ways to connect with our customers. You may get a ZOOM party invite soon so look for that in that coming months.

April has arrived and we have welcomed the sunshine with open arms. Check out some of our new arrivals below. Yes, we still have new things coming in weekly. The Here & Now at Meadow Boutique

We know this all seems so surreal - no one saw this coming. But here we are now. I wanted to share a thought with you that I found and posted this week on Facebook to my friends. I am sure you can relate so I would like to share it:

Flower Power Dresses

It’s a strange time to be alive right now: Coronavirus is officially a pandemic, travel from Europe to the United States has been halted, and students and workers nationwide are largely being quarantined and told to stay home. This is the time we need to stick together and support each other. This too shall pass and we shall recover. Knowing what is happening is a must, but sitting in front of the TV for hours is not. Please take care of yourselves, physically and mentally.

Breathe. Just Breathe.

When you feel like getting out of the house because kids are home and your significant other is also in the house, come on in to Meadow Boutique for a breather. We have lots of fun pieces to cheer you up and remind you that life does go on and all the worry in the world will not chase this away, so you might as well treat yourself! It seems that going shopping always makes us feel better.

March Is Here At Last

It’s March and officially Spring starts March 19. I am not sure why we are so full of anticipation. Maybe because there is a lot going on in the world and we have been dreaming of the warmth of the air and wearing the colors of the tulips sprouting up everywhere.

Meadow Boutique is easing into Spring and you will be happy with what you see at the the shop. There are some light jackets, new high waisted jeans, that are oh so flattering. Tops with lace in all the right places at the neck. Baby blue skirts with thin pleats that sway in the March breeze. Some blush colored pointy flats have strolled in our doors. We even have some bib overalls that you can pair with many of our fitted tops. They are so comfy and stylish. Makes you wonder why you were worried you might not have anything cute to wear! I love how creative we can get with bib overalls. We have them, so get them while supplies last.

And last but not least, since we are really keeping ourselves clean and sanitized these days, we have some lovely body soaps, bath bombs and candles by the Old Whaling Company. Spring Into Color

Hopefully all of you had a wonderful mid-winter break. Many of you told us about your adventures of heading out of town somewhere warmer for the week. That is always a good plan for February! Seems like it should be March already but February has one extra day this year. It was inevitable that it was coming. We can look out our window now and see cherry blossoms and the daffodils are starting to show their yellow blooms. Love, love, love this time of year when everything in Nature starts all over again. The inspiring colors of the flowers makes us so happy. You will see all the shades of Spring in the coming weeks at Meadow Boutique and they are sure to make you happy too. They are arriving every week so stop by and see us.

Let’s get right to it!

Kan Kan Jeans came in this week with the button fly and longer inseams. We have a very dark denim wash and a light wash to add to your wardrobe. Kan Kan has sported a camo jean with zippers at the ankle and Jag Jeans constructed theirs with pockets in front and back pockets with buttons. No hiding out in these. You can’t have enough jeans and when you find the ones you love, that fit like a glove, well, there is really nothing better. We are proud to say that one of our customers, who hadn’t worn jeans in 25 years, found some at Meadow last week that fit just right. Her husband even commented how much he liked the way she looked in them. That wonderful hour we spent with her, we call a win-win.

Hailey & Co made a beautiful floral and black pleated skirt. We envision it with your favorite boots or sandals is the Spring and Summer. It is quite versatile and flows so beautifully as you stroll through your day. Gorgeous!

Gilli never disappoints with its’ fun flirty dress with split sleeves and a tie in the front. It is a lovely color of pink they call “Blush.” This pink hue really perks up your attitude and compliments most skin tones. Pardon the pun, but we are tickled pink when we see our customers trying it on and loving it.

Scarves by jc sunny are full of colorful Spring butterflies and birds that are a light versatile material perfect for Spring. You will feel light on your feet wearing these beauties.
