Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

It’s here, and we are ready for this special time of the year. Christmas is the family holiday par excellence around the world, it is the time to get together with loved ones, to receive gifts, hugs and good wishes and, although all these demonstrations of affection are of human nature, in these last two Christmas celebrations, our customs and traditions have had to adapt to an undeniable reality: the pandemic of COVID-19.

This will be the second Christmas that will be spent with a very different reality from how the celebration was in 2019 and before, however, that does not mean that we should avoid the joy and optimism that radiates at this time of year, we just have to be aware and be responsible. I care about you, and you care about me, and really isn’t that what Christmas is about? We wish you all a very special Christmas with your loved ones. It truly has a way of bringing out the best in all of us. We feel warm and cozy all over just thinking about the weekend festivities. We will keep it short and sweet so you can continue the joy of the season with your family!

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique? Our weekly shipment didn’t come this Tuesday but we have a few more things to tickle your fancy.

We have a couple of sweet sweaters in from DOUBLE ZERO, two plaid shackets from BLU PEPPER, and from PHIL LOVE three soft shirts in floral and two of them have skiers and snowboarders on the the front. Super cute and different. HEM & THREAD brings a suede-like jacket all furry inside.

There’s still some little gift treasures all over the store for stocking stuffers and little gifts for friends and family. I mean who doesn’t love bath bombs and luscious creams and soaps. There’s still some ornaments to be had for your tree and fun little girl items of barrettes and bracelets and necklaces. Oh and don’t forget, we have cute little stuffies for those special kids in your life.

What’s new this week at Meadow?

RISEN Denim has some light colored, straight leg, distressed, high rise jeans. What a mouthful. I love them, not too short, not too long. They are just right.

We aren’t going to take up too much of your time this week with the blog. We know you are certainly busy preparing for the holiday festivities. It’s funny, I stop in at Trader Joes in Queen Anne at least 3 times a week and I always think I will see some of our customers. This week is the first time I have actually seen a few of you. Your shopping carts are full and you are stocking up, so we know you are in Christmas mode. Some of you have already finished your shopping. It seems like many of you started early this year. Now it’s time to adorn yourself with gifts, and we are here to get you through all the gatherings and social events you may be attending.

Tis' The Season

Tis’ the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la. Right? Do you have your jolly on? Time to get out of that funk you might be in because of all this rain that’s been falling. Between September and the end of November, the Seattle metropolitan area accumulated about 19 inches of rain, the largest amount since records began in 1945 and surpassing its previous record chronicled in 2006 by less than an inch. I have to say, the rain has really gotten to me this year, and the fact that it is dark by 4:30. YIKES! To remedy this, I have been playing holiday music to lift my spirits and contemplating installing lights that makes you feel like the sun is shining. I am trying to get my jolly on too, so hang in there. From what I understand, a Hallmark Holiday movie might lift your spirits as well…….let me know what works for you, because I am all in!

We are all truly blessed if we think about it! Life is much better this year, than last year. Am I right? This year we don’t have to fib to our friends that we are staying home and not seeing anyone because of COVID. No guilt this year, as we gather with our family or friends to celebrate this holiday of giving. I for one, am grateful. So let’s forget about the rain and remember how beautiful Seattle is because of it. Not many places are as green and lush as where we live! I suppose it makes us appreciate the sun even more when it comes out.

December is here. The air is getting cooler. Lights are popping up throughout many neighborhoods. Consumers are shopping early so they can find that perfect gift before it has vanished off the shelves. Tis the season! If we can find Joy, Peace and Love in our everyday lives, then we will be ready for this holiday season with greater ease. No matter what or how you celebrate, how can we bring these 3 words into our hearts and lives?

With Love, we share all that is new this week at Meadow Boutique. When I say this week, I say it loosely because things seem to come in all the time, so some pieces don’t get on the blog. It’s like a welcome surprise each time you come into Meadow Boutique to see something new and fashionable!

VINE & LOVE has my vote this week with beautiful lace tops in winter white and black. So soft and flattering, so perfect to dress up or down for the holidays and beyond. Also there is a chunky teal turtleneck with lots of character.

NEW IN has 2 lovely sweaters in that festive red and off white, with lovely full sleeves and oh so soft…..A cozy way to ring in this holiday season. There is also a textured sweater with dots.

JODIFL brings us 2 colors of a quilted short jacket. It comes in a dark grey and rust color. The fit is really nice and a great layering jacket!

HYFVE has that color we are seeing this year in winter fashion - purple but a much lighter color like lavender. Its a very flattering wrap sweater with nice detailing. Take a chance, try something new instead of the typical muted colors that we all seem to wear in Seattle.

GILLI has another festive dress in a holiday plaid that you may want to consider. It would look amazing with some tights and high boots to finish the look.

Small Business Saturday

Now that your belly is full of that wonderful Thanksgiving dinner you just had last eve, are you ready to go shopping and support the local businesses in your community? Local businesses across Washington are hoping to make the most of Small Business Saturday and other promotions as the coronavirus pandemic continues to redefine the holiday shopping season.

Independently owned boutiques, gift shops, mom-and-pop hardware stores, restaurants and the like are facing unprecedented challenges as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic changes how Americans do their holiday shopping.

The idea for this special day is to encourage people to shop small during the post-Thanksgiving weekend and support their local economies. It has become a holiday shopping traditional dedicated to supporting all kinds of businesses — from the corner store, to your favorite local restaurant, to your neighborhood comic book shop — and everything in between!

What’s new this week for Small Business Saturday?

HYFVE in with cold shoulder velvet tops and cropped sweaters. Perfect with high-waisted pants. JODIFL has lovely tops with a magenta jewel tone top and also a floral top full of jewel tones. These tops are a breath of fresh air! DOUBLE ZERO gives us some leggings with pockets and light colored crop sweatshirts. Everything we get in these days seems so appropriate for this renewed holiday season. We have so many beautiful scarves as well and before I left today there were sweat-shirts with MERRY on the front delivered to our doorstep. I am loving everything in the store right now, and as you can imagine, that could pose a problem for me buying gifts for me, me, me. I did buy the person behind me in line this morning a latte at Starbucks. That was the best feeling in the world….to buy a stranger something and see the surprise on their face. Priceless. We show kindness unconditionally to our friends and family, but what about a perfect stranger? She was very gracious and said she was going to pay it forward to someone too. The whole ordeal did my heart good. If you can find some kindness in your heart, I ask you to do something nice for a stranger. I promise you the feeling will give you such joy. We don’t ever know what others are going through in their life and an act of kindness may be just what they needed to make life feel a little better!

We want you to know that we are so appreciative of all your support. You have been there for us through thick and thin in the past year and we are forever grateful! We always hear from you how it is important to you to support local businesses and we like your way of thinking. You don’t just talk the talk, you walk the walk all the way into our boutique. Bring On The Holiday Cheer

Can you smell it? The faint scent of turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie drifts through the air this week, as we all gather around our family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving. Unlike other holidays that are more gift-focused, Thanksgiving is centered on giving thanks for what we have and the special people in our lives. It’s a time to catch up with loved ones, sit around the table and share one of the most delicious meals of the year. Who doesn’t love endless stuffing and slices of pie? Whether you are near or far from your loved ones this Thanksgiving, there are so many ways to share just how much you care with thoughtful Thanksgiving wishes and messages for everyone in your life.

With such busy lives, it can be difficult to slow down and take time to feel thankful for what we do have. However, Thanksgiving marks an important season for all of us to take a moment and remember the little things in life—and every little thing we’re thankful for.

We are stocked up on every rack with pieces coming in daily. If you see something you like, grab it, no joke. Nothing will last, I know I sound like a broken record, but it’s true! In the world we live in today, it’s obvious we can all show each other a little more Kindness. I know, I know, I talk about this every year. Knowing you all the way I do, it seems this is important to you as well. For me, it is so much easier to be Kind! Every year on November 13th, it is World Kindness Day. The objective of World Kindness Day is to spread Kindness with small gestures. The main tradition of the day is to be kind and to try and encourage Kindness to prevail over hatred. Whether it’s helping out someone with chores, taking the time out to ask how someone is doing, or complimenting someone, the name of the game is Kindness, and we all have it in us.

When I lived in Denver, I was introduced to The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation is a small nonprofit that invests their resources into making Kindness the norm. I know and love Brooke Jones, the vice president of the organization and she is a dynamo when it comes to promoting Kindness. Brooke and her team are making the world a better place, by showing us how to incorporate Kindness in our daily lives. Check out all their resources for teachers, companies and your very own home to explore ways of promoting Kindness.

This week, BLU B brings in more shackets in plaids and fuzzy, cozy materials. Also, some added cardigans with that southwest patterns that are sure to have others doing a double take on your attire. There is a really cute dress in all those warm hues that will look amazing with a pair of boots, any kind really. DOUBLE ZERO has some more soft tops and sweaters that will be great for any type of layering. SM WARDROBE brought in 2 sweatshirts, one with cats and one with dogs for all you animal lovers. I think most people that frequent our boutique have a dog or a cat. It’s funny how many dog friends we have at Meadow! Everyday there seems to be a furry friend coming in for a treat. Kindness to pets is for sure one of our mottos! We have back orders coming in that we are putting on racks almost daily, so be sure to stop in so you don’t miss anything. GILLI, NEW IN, and HYFVE have been trickling in as well. It’s a thing for Meadow Boutique to always keep you in the know for new arrivals. Oh, and one more thing, it smells absolutely incredible from all of our holiday candles and there are so many little gifts to be had for all the special people in your life. November’s Attitude of Gratitude

As I strolled into Starbucks this morning to get my pumpkin spice latte, I noticed a board full of sticky notes with writings of gratitude and positive sayings. What a truly amazing idea. It prompted me to write something I was grateful for and oh, how I could feel my heart expand with love. Before I get out of bed in the morning, I try to think of 5 things I am grateful for. It helps me so much to create an intention for my day. It makes me feel better somehow…..and most of all it makes me feel grateful for all that I have.

As we kick off the month of November, it is truly crazy to me to think that 2021 is nearly over. It won’t be long until we are carving the turkey at Thanksgiving, roasting our Christmas dinner, and clinking champagne glasses to celebrate the start of a new year.

Yes, the days and the weeks seem to be moving fast, but this month, families are purposefully slowing down and intentionally carving out time to focus on what matters most. We must teach our kids to have an attitude of gratitude, and when we look around the country and see so many folks who have lost their homes, their jobs, and even more this past year, I can’t help but appreciate the blessings we do have in our lives.

So, to help you build your appreciation muscle, here are ten simple ways to add the practice of it to your daily life at work and at home.

1 . Say “please” and “thank you.” Practicing kindness on a regular basis is an important way to show everyone you appreciate them.

2. Catch someone doing something right. Take notice of pictures, what someone is wearing, or something else you like about them. Show them that you care about who they are.

3. Show genuine interest. Take notice of what someone is wearing, or something else you like about them. Show them that you care about who they are.

4. Go to lunch or take a break. Give the gift of your time — go to lunch, take a break, or go for a walk and connect with someone on a more personal basis.

5. Give a small gift. Give a favorite coffee drink, candy bar, or flower to someone you appreciate and just say “thanks for all you do”. It can be as simple as a sticky note with that same sentiment.

6. One word: food. Make a batch of brownies, or bring in a fruit plate to the office kitchen, or deliver a treat to a remote worker.

7. Create traditions. Have everyone write down one person they appreciate and why, and put them in a hat. Draw one out for a prize. This is also really fun to do at home!

8. Celebrate successes. When things go right, celebrate! Acknowledge everyone involved, even for the small stuff. It can make a huge difference in office and family morale.

9. Say it out loud. Tell someone you appreciate them in front of others. Tell your spouse you are thankful for him in front of the kids or your friends how much you appreciate them.

10. Tell their boss. Don’t you wish someone would do that for you? What a powerful way to show gratitude that can have a lasting impact!

Make appreciation a daily habit Show appreciation and gratitude often. Everyone has a real need to feel appreciated and valued. In practicing daily gratitude for others, you will find that you become not only a more positive communicator but that you also become more optimistic, less stressed, and generally happier and healthier as a result!

We have everything you need to get your “Fall on.” I have talked about all the new arrivals of sweaters, coats, jeans, hats, scarves, handbags and socks and the lists goes on……. I remember being a kid and being so afraid to go out with all those ghoulish masks. I had so much anxiety about it, until I actually got out there. FALL Layering

Layering for the fall is easy when you have strategic pieces of clothing in your closet. Be sure to have plain cotton turtlenecks, mock necks, and quarter-sleeve cotton shirts for base layers. For the top layer, light V-neck sweaters, fleece vests, fashion scarves, tank tops, and other basic tops work well.

The best part of layering for Fall is that you can use so many different clothing articles from your wardrobe: summer essentials, winter clothes, and everything in between. And don’t worry, you won’t look bigger if you dress for your body type! A perfectly layered look should make you look amazing. In fact, it should accentuate your assets and hide the imperfection you want to keep away from the world.

5 Steps to a Perfectly Layered Outfit

1. Start with a basic top or button-down shirt. Opt for neutral colors or a striped top.

2. Start to add layers. You can add a sweater, a cardigan or a blazer on top. If you love color, now it’s time to add it to the mix.

3. If it’s really cold outside, put a jacket or coat over your second layer. If you chose a colorful second layer, go back to neutral colors for the jacket or coat. You can opt for the classic black or for an autumnal color. Think olive green, camel or maroon. On the other hand, if the rest of your outfit is neutral, you can wear a statement jacket or coat for a much-needed pop of color. You can opt for autumnal colors here as well. Instead of muted colors, opt for bright colors such as yellow, orange or purple.

4. Add a scarf! No fall outfit is complete without a scarf! It is the cherry on top of your outfit cake.

5. Last step – accessories. Choose your favorite accessories, make sure they match your outfit, and you’re ready to go.

One of the trends I really love is taking that Summer dress and adding a sweater, some tights and some cute booties. Add a jacket, scarf and a hat and guess what? You are on trend. Colors can be jewel tones as well as Fall hues. Anything goes this year after a year of stifling Fall in our homes with cozies. I am ready to get creative, how about you? BRRRR - it’s really starting to cool off. It’s that time of year when the air starts to feel crisp, Mother Nature paints the leaves in vivid hues of reds, oranges and yellows, pumpkins begin appearing on doorsteps, and fans start wrapping up in blankets and jackets at area football games. October presents a plethora of family activities to enjoy.

As the season with the highest holidays-to-normal-days ratio, fall is arguably the best time of the year, summer notwithstanding. That said, it also rains a lot here, gets pretty cold, and oh yeah, we’re still in the middle of a global pandemic. But fear not, fellow Seattleites! There is plenty to do in the city—and beyond—and you’d be remiss to skip out on seasonal activities just because you’re still mourning summer’s end. Could this be the year that you get really into Halloween, eat too many s’mores-themed desserts, go hiking, or do all of the above? But of course. Below, click on some of the fun things you can do in Seattle this fall.

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique:

LOVE TREE brings coats and sweaters and the fashion tops of Fall. When you walk in you will see the colors of all the leaves outside. Everything is warm and cozy and absolutely ready for purchase. It is a brand that we can always count on for their great quality, offered at a fair price. Love Tree promises their styles are fashionable and comfortable. We couldn’t agree more.

STACCATO is one of our favorite brands as well at Meadow Boutique. It seems they always focus on designing a beautiful range of basics, plaids, and knits, that you can effortlessly throw over your favorite pair of jeans so you can always be on the go.

We also have a wide variety of scarves and hats for Fall and Winter. We are always sneaking in a few pieces here and there that come in after we post our new arrivals on the blog. It really pays to stop by once a week if you are building a new Fall wardrobe and see what might be new, and of course fun and comfortable to wear. Plus, we love seeing how things look on our customers and how they fit. It helps us to only serve you better.......and we even allow you to strut your stuff outside the dressing room, you know, kind of like a mini fashion show.

There is a debate regarding skinny versus wide-leg pants which seems to have originated on TikTok in recent months, with Gen Zers declaring Millennials are old and out of touch in their skinny jeans. Everyone seems to want to be up to date and I assure you we can get you there. We have seen the Millennials rushing in to find those wide leg jeans at Meadow and finding exactly what they want….just sayin! We say experiment and see, you never know until you try them. I am personally enjoying the wide-leg boot-cut, but when I decide to wear my knee-high boots, my skinnies will come back on. I am considered a Boomer I guess, and I love that I can wear whatever I want despite what the crowd deems to be so. Oh my, there is so much joy in being my age! Versatility is the name of the game. I love clothes and I love Fashion and I am always open to what my body thinks is possible, right? At Meadow Boutique we have the opportunity to choose because there is amazing Fashion here for anyone from the age of 14 -92!  I have see all sizes and ages come in and find something that tickles their fancy.

Many of you stopped by this week, and as we always do, have a chat about things happening in our families and in the world. I shared with some of you that my grandson, Logan, who is 13 was tested positive for COVID. (I have not been in contact with him, don’t worry!) I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all your well wishes for him and my family. I spoke with him today and I am happy to say he is resting and quarantined for the next 10 days......and he says he still has to do his homework. I want you all to know we are thinking of you and your families during this time. We are constantly hearing our favorite motto in our head “WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER” and you have proven over and over that this is true, not by your words, but by your actions! October Chill

Yes well, it’s here….Fall. The year has brought us to October. Do you feel the chill in the air? Those warm Summer days and nights have turned a little cooler. It seems it was just March. I think we will always go back to remembering March last year, when our world changed. This year we are full of hope and longing to get things back to normal, whatever that is for each of us.

And first things first - we want a new wardrobe for Fall. Last year, we shared with you the drives around Washington to get you in the mood for all the Fall colors so you could incorporate them into your wardrobe. But last year, we weren’t really feeling it. This year it’s all we have heard about, how much you want to buy things to make you feel good again. Meadow Boutique really does have everything you are looking for and then some……so for those of you still wanting that cozy sweatshirt feeling, we haven’t forgotten about you. We have been saying that you need to pile those sweats and joggers in your closet and forget about them. We didn’t mean to be so judgemental. There is still a place for those cozies, as well as clothes to wear beyond home. Don’t worry - our aim is to please all of customers in whatever way we can. If sweats are still your jam, we just got in a ton, but the colors are a bit different than last year. There are so many ways to style them now, so take advantage of that!

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

The Transitional Shacket

One of the best parts about the transitional weather, is the infinite number of outfits you can put together with just a few staple pieces. (Seriously, the limit does not exist.) Your vintage t-shirts pair perfectly with skinny jeans, as well as with your wide-leg pants. Your slim-fit crop top looks great tucked into a skirt with both sandals and ankle boots, but it can also be just as easily worn with your favorite high-waisted shorts. And now, there’s a new layer that’s here to make any wardrobe even chicer: the shacket, aka the shirt jacket trend.

What is a shacket, you ask? It looks like a shirt, but layers like a jacket. It’s heavy enough to provide some warmth, but not too heavy when you find the temperatures creeping into the late 60’s when the forecast clearly stated a high of 58 degrees last time you checked.  It’s the perfect middle ground between a shirt and a jacket. And when layered over your outfit on a chilly day, a next-level ensemble is born. 

Think of a shacket as the warmer weather alternative to shearling jackets. Whether you live in leggings during this season or never take off your chicest denim, there are so many shackets just waiting to elevate your favorite looks.  We are all about layering in the Northwest so the shacket is a great option.

 What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique: Shackets, cardigans, denim, scarves, handbags & ponchos, oh my!

This week we have, what, can you guess? Shackets by BLUE B and LOVE TREE. They come in tribal designs, and solid colors. They will be sailing off the racks! This I know. Some are a little longer like a shirt and some are more boxy like a jacket, thus the shacket! 

ACTIVE USA has so many great cardigans in stripes and solids as well. Perfect layering pieces in different weights and lengths.  

We have been waiting patiently for all of our jeans to come in and we are happy to say that KAN CAN and VERVET have graced our boutique with some boot-cut and wide-leg styles. Dark and light denim washes are here for the taking. 

L.I.B. Handbags in Tartan and Aztec designs are perfect for Fall. They are the perfect size for any ensemble!

RUGGINE Crocheted Ponchos are new to Meadow Boutique and so soft and cozy.

NEWS FLASH: We also received some PETITE denim sizes by KAN CAN in boot cut in 2 different washes.  If you are a petite woman needing some jeans and are finding them too long in regular sizes, these may be just what you have been looking for.  I sold a pair yesterday and they looked fabulous and the customer was very happy!  She also commented on how much she loved shopping at Meadow because we have always been available to help her and suggest fashion she may never have considered. We are always so happy and humbled when we hear this kind of feedback. So, thank you!

Many of your have spoken to us about how excited you are to shop for Fall Fashion. So are we! Last year we were happy just to find some comfy sweats and joggers to wear for those Zoom work calls.  This year we can actually throw on something from a real Fall wardrobe and look fabulous as we head out the door for a meeting or event in person. Feels so good, right? We certainly think so because we are just like you wanting so much more this year in the way of seasonal dress.  I am cleaning out my closet and getting rid off lots of stuff from last year. I am so excited to purchase some new pieces that will enhance my wardrobe.  Come on in, we would love to see you. We want you to experience the joy of buying something new that gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling all over.  After all, it is the season…..Bring your friends, your dog, your pumpkin latte and peruse our racks. The Changing Season

Autumn is just a few days away, so you will begin to notice a chill in the air. Trips to the pumpkin patch, leaf-peeping adventures, and fall movie nights are on the way, but like in recent years, summer temperatures aren’t in a rush to leave. We have had cooler temps but the sun just keeps shining through.

The first day of fall in 2021 is Wednesday, September 22, which coincides with the Autumn equinox—the date directly between the summer and winter solstices, when day and night are nearly equal lengths. But don’t expect temperatures to cool down by then; based on last year’s averages and this year’s lingering heat, most parts of the country probably won’t experience proper sweater weather until later in the season.

What’s new at Meadow Boutique this week?

We have lots more fashion to ring in the season. DOUBLE ZERO with many colors of sweaters, STACCATO with some joggers and a fuzzy shacket, LES AMIS with some nice floral tops and other Autumn hue tops, NEW IN has some interesting textured tops and a lovely cardigan and JODIFL has a really sweet looking shacket in navy. Come in and see for yourself. We have so many Fall pieces, it will make your head spin. And they just keep coming…….So many of you have been coming in with the excitement of being able to buy clothes again that you can go out and about in or head to work a couple of days a week. last years fashion has become a distant memory. It feels good to renew our wardrobes.

We hope that all of you are settling into this new season. However, with every season’s end comes a new beginning. A beautiful, blank slate. An opportunity to start fresh. Instead of longingly looking back at summer 2021, we are choosing to hold the positive feelings from those memories tight, but we are moving forward. Looking ahead to what’s to come. Knowing that the only constant in life truly is change.

If you struggle with the changing seasons (as some of us do), know that this is your chance to make a change. To start something new. To tell someone how you feel about them. To take a chance. Embrace endings, even though it can be sad. Say hello to new opportunities. Welcome everything, the good and the bad, with an open heart and mind. We Think Fall is Simply The Best

It's safe to say that fall is nearly everyone's favorite season, and honestly, how could it not be? The days might be getting shorter and winter might be just around the corner, but Autumn is full of pleasantly warm days with crisp air, sunshine, beautiful Fall foliage to take in, and tons of delicious pumpkin spice treats to be found. There's pumpkin picking, cider drinking, and the perfect conditions to be outside. It's just a cozy, wonderful time of the year.

Here is why Autumn/Fall is the best season in our book:

1. THE TREES CHANGE COLOR

In the southern part of the United States, all the seasons are very apparent. The Spring season is very green, the Summer is very hot, the Winter is very cold and the Fall is full of magnificent colors. The maple trees are especially vibrant with colors of red and golden-yellow and combinations of both.

2. THE WEATHER IS PERFECT

Autumn is the "cooling off" month right between the blazing summer and chilling winter. When the cooler temperatures of fall start rolling in, saying goodbye to Summer is not hard to do. Autumn is a great time to break out the jackets, coats, boots, scarves and hats in preparation for the change in season. It's also the perfect time to start making hot cocoa and lighting a fire in the fireplace. This season creates the perfect setting for a sense of comfort, warmth and reflection. It's also great time to go camping or fishing or take a road trip or anything else where you can spend quality time with family while eating good food.

3. THE SUN HANGS LOW IN THE EARLY MORNING

While 4:00 pm sunsets aren't everyone's cup of tea, daylight savings time offers stunning views of the sun in the sky during daybreak. The glitter of frost or rain from the night before is always a beautiful sight. Did I mention how perfect the lighting is for the all-important selfie after that early morning run? And who doesn’t enjoy that extra hour of rest on the first morning of daylight savings?

4. FALL IS FULL OF FAMILY HOLIDAYS

Autumn is a part of of the jam-packed holiday season. There's the back-to-school rush, Halloween, and Thanksgiving before rolling into winter and Christmas. And these aren't just regular old holidays. These are all very involved, family-centered holidays. Autumn is the season to be thankful and to be surrounded by the people you love. It's the perfect time to change up your decorations by adding orange, red and yellow colors and to pull out the spice-scented candles. The holiday season encourages you to spend time thinking about what you and your family have been through in the last year as well as the memories you've made together while looking forward to a new and exciting year.

5. THE SEASONAL SHOPPING IS AWESOME

During the Fall you can expect to see your favorite stores load up their inventory with themes related to this time of year. Everything from pumpkin-flavored pies and Starbucks drinks to apple ciders and new fragrances and clothes hit the shelves. Fall clothes have certainly hit the shelves at Meadow Boutique! Last year we were sequestered to our homes working and not seeing many people except by Zoom. This year there is more movement. We can actually dress from head to toe and be seen. I don’t know about you, but we want to have access to all that we can when the cool weather swoops in. Color Me September

It’s hard to believe that it is September already. September is a very transitional month, filled with hurried schedules and high emotion. It’s a month of adjusting and letting go, just as the trees let go of their leaves in the fall. School begins, which is exciting for some. For others though, it means letting go of seeing their loved ones 24/7 which can be super hard: especially for those just starting school, or those leaving for college. As hard as it is for those kids to transition into that change I think it is equally difficult for parents. Fall! Time To Stock Up

Ask most locals what their favorite time of year is, and they’ll likely say Fall. Seattle in the Fall is a beautiful time to be in the area for many reasons. The weather is still somewhat warm, and there are plenty of sunny days left.

While we love the summer days we have, Fall in Seattle is ideal for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. There are many Seattle Fall activities to do this time of year, from Fall events to seasonal food to try. After how hot some of our August days get, we actually look forward to this time of year!

We have Fall pieces coming in weekly now so you best stop by Meadow Boutique and see what you might want to add to your wardrobe. Last year, for Fall, we bought sweats. Everyone was working from home, so there was no need for a wardrobe to wear to work. So, Shelley bought sweats and joggers and sweatshirts. Seems like Hunter Green is a popular color this season. I love the corduroy jacket that is reversible in that rich rust color. There’s also a pair of bell bottom rib knit pants. We hope you all are doing well and your Summer was outrageous! We know your kiddos are getting ready to go back to school soon and we hope there is some excitement in the air. Fall Fashion Trends

Summer isn’t quite over yet, but we’re already looking ahead to the season of cozy cashmere, plaid skirts and pumpkin spice everything. Last fall we were more than happy to wrap ourselves in sweatpants and fancy PJs while working from home, but this year we’re eager to put together outfits that are a bit more fashion forward as we slowly start incorporating more restaurant visits, office days and hangouts with friends into our schedule. Here are the top 11 fall fashion trends for Fall 2021.

1. ‘90S REVIVAL - Try a sheath dress, tall square-toe boots and maxi-length cardigans.

2. SATURATED HUES - Think boosted jewel tones, deep magenta, mustard yellow and other rich options.

3. LOOSE-FIT DENIM - Skinny jeans will always hold a special place in our hearts, but for fall 2021, looser styles like mom jeans, flares, boot-cuts and boyfriend jeans are the way to go.

4. SWEATER VESTS - As temperatures continue to drop, you can layer your vests over shirt dresses, button-downs, turtlenecks and even another sweater.

5. MIDRIFF-BARING SETS - This fall the trend is taking a simpler turn with hints of skin peeking out between coordinating tops and midi or maxi skirts.

6. PRINTED PANTS - Jeans and trousers in snake prints, checkerboard, zebra stripes and punchy florals are popping up left and right.

7. PUFFY, QUILTED AND TEXTURED HANDBAGS - Think cross-bodies that resemble puffer coats, intricately woven leather clutches and ruching galore. Some bags might even combine all three.

8. LAVENDER - The pretty hue popped up on runways in every city during fashion month. Pick up one or two statement pieces, like a lavender blazer, wide-leg trousers or a floaty midi dress, then mix and match them with other shades of purple or classic basics, like jeans and a T-shirt.

9. PLATFORMS AND FLATFORMS - Platform loafers and lace-up boots, as well as clogs and ‘70s-esque heels, will give you a chic lift that’s also much easier to walk in than stilettos (thank god).

10. SEQUINS AND SPARKLES FOR DAY - The best way to make these statement materials work is by pairing them with super casual basics, like a white button-down, raw-hem denim or an easy T-shirt.

11. DARK ACADEMIA - This moody trend started with Gen Z on TikTok but any age can pull it off. Stand out pieces include pleated mini and midi skirts in dark hues, tailored leather blazers and jackets, and preppy plaids in deep shades of green, navy, burgundy, brown and black.

In Between Seasons

It’s August now, and then September. We hope you are enjoying those last Summer evenings with friends and family. It’s nice when the evenings cool off and we can enjoy each other’s company in our great outdoors. It feels a bit strange to start buying sweaters and Fall attire, but we are almost there. With temps hitting the 90’s this week, I sweat just looking at a sweater. Never fear, we have dresses rolling in, some with Fall colors that will transition with an added cardigan or sweater when the weather turns cooler. We have some really great bags and backpacks from a sustainable company that supports women. They are lightweight and the designs are stunning. There is so much in Meadow Boutique right now, from clothing to jewelry and jeans to bags with lots of surprises around the corner. Shelley really got a jump on Fall this year. The really cool thing is that some of the companies she chose to buy from have a mission of supporting women around the world. Now that makes me proud!

I have heard moms talking about their kids going back to school and hoping it will happen with the variants lurking behind the scenes. Parents seem to really want the kids to get back in the swing of things. It’s been rough for everyone. And just when you think things are turning the corner, the virus takes on a whole new strain. I sense there will be a new direction for us soon and we will just do what we have to do. It’s not just me, it’s us, it’s we and we need to take care of each other. We will do whatever we are asked to do to keep you safe.

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique:

KORI - I absolutely love these dresses with the high/low cut and they are oh so pretty. There are also a couple of sleeveless tops that are easy to pair with your favorite shorts or jeans.

GILLI - More Summer dresses with a jumpsuit to die for and a couple of tops that are very flattering with wonderful prints that will sure to turn heads. GILLI’S designs are hard to beat. We always suggest trying the GILLI jumpsuits to get a feel for them. Our clients are always surprised how great they fit.

BLU PEPPER has some great little short dresses and a longer one with very Fall colors. One of the dresses has a tie in the back. Very unique and the color is just right.

DREAMERS - New styles of Dreamers, as we have our usual suspects in a variety of colors, but also a shorter version and 2 lighter mesh type styles. Super cute and some great transition pieces.

KAN CAN - There are 4 different pairs of denim this week, one wide leg, one boot-cut, and a distressed skinny denim and light black skinny denim as well.
