The Colors of Easter

April 7, 2023 Shelley Hall

Oh the colors of Spring will be hopping around town this weekend! There’s good news for little bunnies everywhere: Easter egg hunts and other Easter activities are happening soon! A harbinger of spring for many young ones, Easter events are plentiful this year. Although most are free, some do charge a fee and require advance ticketing. Always check websites before making family plans and have a hoppin’ good time!

Seattle

Spring Egg Hunts 2023 at Seattle Community Centers

Take a look at the list above and find one near you! Most egg hunts are for kids 11 and younger but always check before hopping down. Bring your own bag or basket to collect goodies and eggs! When my kids were young, they loved going to Easter egg hunts and dying those eggs. It was a fun celebration in our household. Then there were the plastic eggs where we all put in little surprises. So much fun. Enjoy this Easter, whatever you decide to do.

I don’t know about you, but we are ready for some warmer weather. Spring is here as far as the calendar goes, so where is the warmer weather? Meadow Boutique has some great colorful pieces to add to your wardrobe for Spring! The color of Easter eggs. No kidding. I guess we will have to throw on a jean jacket or light coat until the weather gets warmer. On a brighter note, the daffodils and cherry trees are blooming. That gives me hope. Seattle is so beautiful when everything starts to bloom. I am looking forward to all of that happening in the sunshine. There seriously is no place more beautiful than Seattle when it is sunny.

What’s new at Meadow Boutique Pop-Up:

There is IN LOOM, FASHION NOMA, e LUNA, LA SOUL, MINE and DREAMERS all in this week in lovely colors that will remind you of Spring and all the Easter egg colors. I forgot to photograph one of the colorful dresses, so look for it on Instagram and Facebook this week. It’s super cute. I can’t believe I forgot it. I am going to blame it on age, this one time. The dresses this week are very fun and boho like. You definitely want to come check them out. We have quite a few new bags by UNNI and fanny packs that are in a variety of colors. There’s tons of jewelry and hair clips as well.

We know you have plenty to do with all the Easter and Passover festivities. If you need a little something to wear, stop by and see what we have that will make you feel like Spring! You know we always love seeing you. We want you to know how much we appreciate you keeping us on your radar and supporting our little pop-up. We have managed to stay afloat after all that’s happened in the past 6 months. But, hey, we are so grateful…..so, so grateful to still be able to bring you the most amazing fashion trends that Shelley can find; all right here in Queen Anne, just for you, always for you. xoxoxoxo

Blooming Life In April

March 31, 2023 Shelley Hall

In the northern hemisphere April is a most confusing month; rainy and wet one day, the next full of a warm promise of green growth to come. Besides the weather, the month is full of surprises and contradictions, prized for rebirth and endings, and a birth month to amazing geniuses. April awakens from her winter snooze and blows a cool but not chilling breeze over the earth. The flowers join the re-awakening and burst open their blossoms. People embrace the outdoors in temperatures that are neither wintry nor sultry. Animals appreciate the longer hours they have to graze.

You must love April. It is just like life.

It’s truly my life for sure. I was born this month on the 22nd, Earth Day. It’s a big year for me. I will be 65 years old. No, I am not playing an April Fool’s joke on you. It’s true, 65 is just a few weeks away. Next year at this time I will be packing my stuff and getting ready to move to Mexico to retire. It’s weird to think about this time in my life. We never think about being this age when we are younger. We just revel in the fact that we are young, working in our desired field of study, buying a home, having kids, and then all of a sudden we are grandparents, and we are watching life happen around us. Our kids grow up, they go to college, they leave home, they go through the same things you did. Then all of a sudden you look around and you have an empty nest and you and your husband look at each other and high five for the next chapter of your lives. You aren’t really sure what that will look like, but you just go with it. It’s funny how we are newbies at every stage that we experience…..we learn, we grow, we prosper. April makes me feel all these things. I love April. It’s who I am. It’s where I started. And now I am here. Thanks for being part of my journey. You have truly enriched this time of my life here at Meadow Boutique. I appreciate each and every one of you who have crossed my path.

April is also the time for Cherry Blossoms here in Seattle. Those colors are amazing on all the side streets in our communities and at the UW Quad. The seasonal colors of Spring are much like the season itself - light, airy hues that are comprised of pastel versions of the colors of the rainbow. Inspired by the melting snow that brings the first blooms of the season and traditional Easter tones, Spring's seasonal colors include the following: Pale peach - Blush pink - Mint green - Baby blue - Cream - Light gray - Soft yellow - Spring green - Lavender.  As I look at the racks at Meadow, we have all of these colors. Come by and take your pick.

What’s new at Meadow Pop-Up Boutique:

SNEAK PEEK has 3 different style denim jeans. One has a button front, one distressed (slim straight), one a baby blue (kick flare). So darn cute and stylish for Spring. There’s LOVE TREE with outer wear, tees and a dress, CHRIS & CAROL with a variety of tees and a high/low skirt, IN BLOOM with a Boho long dress, and 2 HEARTS with a bright floral top. Any piece that might look black below is actually navy, so why not add that to your wardrobe. Enjoy all the great light colors we have and come try them on. You might be surprised what might look great on you. How would you know if you have only been wearing black, grey, beige? Please….. our weather is dark enough without you blending in. Yes, I am calling you out, and myself as well. I am trying to incorporate brights, what about you?

We hope you have stopped by and checked out the Meadow Pop-Up. It’s smaller but quaint and cute and full of great fashion. Shelley will never let you down with all the great colors and fashion you will adore! I was taking photos this morning and she has placed new things in every nook and cranny that weren’t there last week. We now have cards and lots more earrings and bags. We have many different styles of hair clips and on and on and on. April is surely blooming in Meadow Boutique. We really want to see you, stop by, say hello and let us help you find a little something for Spring. xoxoxoxo

Designer Jeans Movement

March 24, 2023 Shelley Hall

Gloria Vanderbilt created the designer jean movement. The brand was established in 1976 between Gloria Vanderbilt and Mohan Murjani. It was the first major jeanswear brand launched by a woman, for women. Originally recognized for its iconic fit and signature swan logo, Gloria Vanderbilt has sustained the test of time and is still one of the largest denim brands in North America.

The jeans owe their popularity to Vanderbilt herself. Not only because she was the spokesperson, but also due to her unflinching commitment to fit, quality and style. Vanderbilt never sacrificed one for the other. And that resulted in a jean that was as sexy and flattering as it was comfortable.

Today, many tout Vanderbilt’s jeans as the first true designer jean and the first skinny jean. Vanderbilt was also among the early designers to include sizes that, today, would be categorized as juniors and plus-size. The brand encompasses a wide range of fits, innovative fabrics, and elevated washes and details. With more than 60 million pairs sold, we are most well-known for the Amanda® Jean - the original slimming jean®.

Even the though the first day of Spring was March 20, it’s still jeans weather. What is your favorite kind of jeans right now? We have so many kinds now since Gloria Vanderbilt first started her designer jean line. There are skinny, wide leg, relaxed leg, flares, straight leg, bell bottom, crop, cutoff, distressed, and on and on. It’s nice that they are mostly stretchy and high waisted. No matter what your age, you can be certain that any style will work for you. Jeans do not have an age limit. You wear what you fell comfortable in. Period.

When I gaze up at the shelf in my closet, because of working at Meadow, I have every kind of style to chose from out there. I like them all, really. I chose my mood, then I chose my jeans. Then I chose my shoes rather it be loafer, booties, boots, tennies or sandals. What would the world be like without jeans? There are so many different ways to wear them these days. I wear mine with short dresses, crocheted dusters, blazers, sweatshirts, oh so many ways. It seems anything goes with jeans these days. We have a few different kinds right now at Meadow and will surely get more next week I am told in petite and average height. We are clearing space now for their arrival! So stop by next week and check out the new jeans.

What’s new this week at Meadow Pop-Up?

Spring sweatshirts are in from ZENANA. They are stylish and have pockets in a variety of colors. LOVE TREE with a couple of jackets in beige shades. Black linen like wide leg pants with a think elastic waistband and a thin elastic wait band, take your pick. There is a ROKOKO dress and BLU PEPPER dress this week. Colors of Spring are lovely reminders in these dresses. Come in and see for yourself. Check out all the pieces below.

I have to say after making my way around Queen Anne, we have some of the best prices in Seattle. Everything is great quality and priced reasonably. I recently ventured out to Snohomish with a friend. We walked up and down the streets venturing in and out of cute little clothing boutiques. I always check prices and labels to compare to what we have at Meadow. There was only one place that had some of the same brands and prices as Meadow and that was way out in Snohomish.

So, I say enjoy the pieces we do have, the prices, the new pop-up space and the amazing selection that Shelley handpicks every week, especially for you. Some of you have come in this week looking for the little girl section for gifts. We don’t have that right now. We are slowly adding back small portions of what we did have in our bigger space. Stay tuned to see what we add next. Our space is limited so we are doing our best. Thanks for hanging in there with us. We couldn’t do it without you and really, we wouldn’t want to…….xoxoxoxo

Wrap Dresses Make History

March 17, 2023 Shelley Hall

This week we want to highlight Diane Von Furstenberg. She is a designer with a true underdog story. She survived the Holocaust in 1946 and then met her now husband Prince Egon Von Furstenberg and became a Princess in 1969. She took the fashion world by storm in 1974 when her famous wrap dress debuted. Her wrap dress design has been inducted into The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Collection and The Smithsonian. Now the fashion designer is committed to women’s rights across the globe.

Upon its creation in the early 1970s, Diane von Furstenberg’s wrap dress style was highly sought after by everyone from the Studio 54 lot to the Park Avenue crowd. And even today, it’s so versatile that actors and royalty wear it as much as business women, academics, and journalists. The original design was a long-sleeved silk jersey dress featuring a fitted top and a skirt that wrapped around the body to tie at the waist. Feminine yet functional, it responded to the liberated mood of American society at the time, during which more women joined the workforce and opted for suit jackets and trousers.

The time of year for dresses is right around the corner. We are getting them in slowly but surely. The colors are getting lighter and brighter in hopes the weather will get warmer. Our pacific standard time has jumped ahead an hour and it is staying lighter in the evening past 4:30. This seems to mean that the seasons will be changing soon. We are ready for it. I have to say I am a little tired of 30 degree temps in the morning. I use to make fun of snowbirds, you know the old folks that flock to warmer weather in Winters. Now, I am in that age bracket and I am cold and a bit cranky. So I will be flocking to a warmer climate next year like all the old folks do……yes, you heard me right.

What’s new at Meadow Pop-Up Boutique this week?

We have lots of new earrings in all shapes and sizes. You have to check them out! LOVE TREE, CIELO, LES AMIS, 2 HEARTS and BIBI all have new pieces in the boutiques this week. See for yourself below. There are pops of color everywhere as you can see.

We love sharing our space with WINK Hair Studio. We have met so many more lovely people who love to shop Meadow and our customers who love to shop hair products or need a new hairdresser. It seems to be a win win for both of us. The other day the place was full for WINK and Meadow had some customers trying on some pieces. It became a party of women giving their opinions about the try-ons and hair being done. Women really do benefit from being around other women that uplift and support each other. I witnessed it with my own eyes. It was a sight to behold. It’s pretty amazing to see women together giving each other love and respect……just because. We need more of that in the world, but if we can have it in our own little spot right here in Queen Anne, then we will take it! So you never know what you might get when you walk through our doors. I will guarantee, it will be positive! xoxoxoxo

"I've always been inspired by women, and my mission was to inspire women. I always wanted to become a certain kind of woman, and I became that woman through fashion. It was a dialogue. I would see that the wrap dress made those women confident, and made them act with confidence." ~ Diane Von Furstenberg

Fashion Meets History

March 10, 2023 Shelley Hall

This week we honor Vera Wang for Women’s History Month in Fashion. Vera Wang is one of the most iconic wedding dress designers in the world. She not only designs stunning wedding dresses but also gorgeous gowns and incredible evening wear. She’s had a very interesting career and life.

Vera Wang is a household name and one of the most inspiring and successful famous female clothing designers in the fashion cannon. She has a corner of the bridal wear market, making her a top women dress designer that is a must for every bride to be to look into for their wedding day. When it comes to giving advice to women in any industry, she says to uplift other women, not intimidate them, and to go into a field that you are passionate about so that it helps you through the difficulties of life. It is easy to see how passionate Vera Wang is about fashion design, as she has made a huge success for herself in her life.

In her college years, Wang worked in the Rive Gauche boutique on Madison Ave as a summer job. After college she worked on the editorial side of Vogue, staying at Conde Nast for 16 years. At age 40, Wang decided she was going to design wedding dresses and got into business with David’s Bridal. Her most famous clients are the likes of Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham, and Chelsea Clinton. In addition to her celebrity clients, she also designed for the masses by selling dresses at Kohl’s. In recent years Wang debuted a plus-size wedding dress collection, bringing inclusivity to designer bridal fashion.

Women Make History

March 3, 2023 Shelley Hall

Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel

Coco Chanel was a French designer and a businesswoman who ruled the Parisian haute couture for about sixty years. She is known for the classic innovations, including the quilted purse, the woman's suit, the “little black dress,” and costume jewelry. She was nicknamed “Coco” during her years as a singer.

We salute all women for Women’s History Month, but here we will highlight a few women that made history in Fashion for the Month of March.

Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women planned and executed a “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978. The organizers selected the week of March 8 to correspond with International Women’s Day. The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week celebrations the following year. In February 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring the Week of March 8th 1980 as National Women’s History Week.

As I am writing this blog, I am thinking how Meadow Boutique and Shelley Hall have made history in a way. Besides being a women owned business in the Queen Anne neighborhood for 13 years, Shelley has survived the COVID restraints that lasted 3 years and now a fire in the building that lead us to a pop-up at Wink Salon. History is the study of change over time, and it covers all aspects of human society. I think we have created that here in Queen Anne. Thanks so much helping us make history. All the amazing women we have met have made a contribution to Meadow Boutique’s history, so for that, we thank you.

What’s new this week at Meadow?

See below the pieces from CHERISH, AEMI + CO, NEW IN and LOVE TREE. Is there something that you might want to add to your wardrobe?

If you haven’t been by to see the Meadow Pop-Up, you must stop by and have a look. Some have commented that they like it better because it’s smaller and it makes it easier for them to decide what to buy. There’s a little bit of everything at the pop-up and you will be happy with what we have to offer. There’s always something new like before, so don’t be discouraged of the size of the shop. Wink Hair Salon has been a great place for us to be part of for now. Rebecca and Leslie have welcomed us with open arms and for that we are grateful. It’s funny how things work out, just when you think things have gone up in flames, you find warmth and comfort in a new place. We look forward to seeing you soon and showing off our new Mini Meadow! xoxoxox

“I’ve come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a fingerprint – and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.” – Oprah Winfrey

The Vibe of Gratitude

February 24, 2023 Shelley Hall

From setting up our fashion in the pop-up, to picture perfect hair in Wink, to coffee next door at Macrina Bakery, we are settling in! Meadow Boutique has set up shop and you all have been arriving to check us out. For that, we want to say thank you.

The vibe here is invigorating. Women helping women. It’s a site to behold. On Friday, there were a few women in the boutique, there were women getting their hair done and me trying to make sure all of our customers needs were met. We have one small dressing capsule, so taking turns is a must. The women were helping each other with their opinion on what they thought about a piece they had on. It was quite enjoyable to watch them interact and truly support each other with honesty and care. We really want the opinion of others sometimes, and it is such a confidence builder when another women tells you something looks good on you and means it!

You won’t be disappointed coming to our new little space. It’s quite cozy and it feels like a safe haven for all women to just hang out and get what they need. You’ll see when you come in, if you haven’t had a chance to stop by yet. It’s a bit more intimate and it gives us a chance to see you up close and personal. If you have stopped by to support us then thank you, thank you, thank you. We truly appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.

This week, I took photos of just some of our new pieces. I am still trying to figure out where to get the best lightening, etc. inside the salon. We don’t have shoes so I am trying to find pieces to add to the photos. We have less items but still great ones. Give me some time, as I perfect the location where I will be taking the photos. Maybe next time I will put outfits on a mannequin to see how that works. Hang with me a minute, I will figure it out and get you the best ways to put together outfits so you can view the new items.

This week we have pieces from GILLI, LOVE TREE, KORI, JODIFL, LES AMIS, STACCATO, SNEAK PEEK, THE WORKSHOP and KAN CAN. From tops, to dresses, to blouses, to pants, to denim, there’s a little of everything but only 6 of each item. Come in, and check it out. It seems Shelley is always sneaking in pieces during the week that are not on the blog. We can’t wait to see you! You kind words and care are heart-warming.

PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF OUR HOURS: TUESDAY - THURSDAY 11AM-5:00PM | FRIDAY & SATURDAY 11AM-5:30PM SUNDAY 12PM-4PM | MONDAY - CLOSED

We hope you have had an amazing February full of Love! Enjoy your Winter break with your kiddos. It sounds like Disneyland will be doing very well this year with many of you heading that way! xoxoxoxo

Meadow Updates

February 17, 2023 Shelley Hall

We have been open now a week at Wink Hair Studio, and things are coming together slowly. The Pop-Up is in the front and it looks like we are part of the space now. All the merchandise has been set up and ready for your perusal. It is smaller, yes, but you can certainly count on great fashion just like before that Meadow is so well known for. The colors are Spring-like and the fixtures are quite splendid and there is a small dressing room for trying on those pieces you so carefully pick out.

We are writing to tell you that things will pretty much get back to normal next week as far as the blog goes. We have new pieces coming in and I plan to get photos for the blog. You will be able to see some outfits put together just like before, with prices, etc. If you see something you want us to hold you will have to email us at meadowboutique@gmail.com, as we do not have a phone connected to Meadow at this time, or better yet come on by and grab the size you need.

We appreciate your patience and your kind words though all of these changes we have had. It has taken us a minute to get use to everything as well. Because of the size of our space, there can only be one of us serving you at a time, instead 0f our fun tag team we did on certain days. Sometimes we wear a mask depending on if customers in the salon feel more comfortable with us wearing one. We use the Square now for payment, but we still write up your receipt. There’s just little things like that you will notice when you come in. It’s really great to be able to shop hair products now too, like Kevin Murphy and Davines brands. Rebecca, the owner of Wink, has nothing but the best hair products to offer if you are in need of any shampoos or conditioners. I am a product junkie so I love that! Also, we are right next door to Macrina Bakery, with great coffee drinks, lunch items and pastries. Talk about a great location, right?

But, there is one thing you can still count on……that is we are still smiling and still happy to see you and help you find exactly what you need. With Spring right around the corner, things will get more exciting with amazing colors that will be adorning our racks. As the weather gets better, we can possible put a rack outside with even more fashion to choose from too. We are just grateful to have a spot to continue some part of Meadow. We don’t want to leave Queen Anne. We love the people, the vibe and the neighborhood and we truly want to be here. Please come by and see us. Help us turn this unfortunate turn of events into something positive! xoxoxoxo

“You’re off to great places, today is your day. Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way.” ~ Dr. Seuss

Don’t hesitate to visit us at our new Pop-Up location!

Sharing The Love

February 10, 2023 Shelley Hall

Valentines Day is right around the corner and we need to just share the LOVE, right? And we are asking you to share the LOVE too!

It seems like we have been closed forever, but it has only been a couple of weeks. We drive by Meadow Boutique and look in the windows and everything looks fine. It feels like I can just park my car and walk in to work like before! It doesn’t even look like there has been a fire until you see the side of the building. We have so many great clothes that came in and more on the racks. They also look just fine, but they are riddled with smoke damage. It makes me sad. Shelley poured her heart and soul into Meadow Boutique. We survived COVID so we have to survive this! Onward and upward is the motto. Which leads us to where we are now and now more than ever, we really need your support.

Like we shared in the last blog, RebeccaWagoner, owner of WINK Hair Studio, offered Shelley a Pop-Up space in front of her salon. All week, Shelley has been creating a beautiful area up front in the salon, for you to shop. You will still see that Meadow flare, she so elegantly displays in the new space. We have been pricing and folding and steaming and placing everything just right! There’s a lot less merchandise, of course, but still some great pieces to add to your wardrobe and always more to come. So please come in and have a look!

You can shop when you see Shelley or Kathy in the shop. Rebecca cannot serve you, as she is busy with her customers and has her own business to run, so please be respectful of that. We unfortunately cannot have dogs in the salon, so if you bring your furry friend they have to remain outside. We will of course give you a treat for your pet, on behalf of Meadow Boutique. Some things have changed, but we are so grateful for the opportunity to be able to bounce back with this Pop-Up so Meadow Boutique will stay fresh in your mind.

Hours for Meadow Pop-Up:

Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 5pm | Sunday 12pm - 4pm | Closed on Monday

New Location Address:

Wink Hair Studio | 623 W. McGraw St (next door to Macrina Bakery) | Seattle, Wa 98119

When you receive this email blog we will be open for business, so……please come in and say hello. We miss you so much. We cannot begin to tell you how hard this is not to see you and talk with you. Not only that, but we miss your furry friends too. See the new Mini Meadow Boutique and show us some LOVE! We opted out of all the most generous offers of a GoFundMe so we could just get back up and running. The best way you can help is to come in, treat yourself to a Valentine’s gift and support Meadow Boutique. That will absolutely warm our hearts and we will definitely feel the love! xoxoxoxo

Angels In Our Midst

February 3, 2023 Shelley Hall

We go through our days waking up, getting our kids to school, grocery shopping, simply being out in the world doing our daily regimens. How many times do we actually notice the people around us? How often do we take the time to do something nice for someone without making sure others notice?

We are here to tell you that Angels walk among us right here in our own community.

These are people that look at situations happening around them and ask one simple question, “How can I help?” In the Queen Anne community, we have a woman just like that. Rebecca Wagoner is the owner of WINK Hair Studio in Queen Anne at 623 W McGraw St. (next to Macrina Bakery). Rebecca has been a stylist for over 19 years in the Seattle area and 16 in her location in Queen Anne. She is a well established business owner and as we can plainly see…….someone who has asked how she could help!

Rebecca offered Shelley a space for a Pop-Up. Yes, she certainly did. Meadow Boutique’s Pop-Up will be located in the front of Rebecca’s hair studio. We will be offering mostly clothing and some other surprises, so do stay tuned! So this will be a Mini Meadow so to speak. This is so exciting to be able to come back so quickly to you in Queen Anne. We are full of anticipation, as you should be as well!

As soon as we have a date of our opening, you will be the first to know, we promise. We can’t begin to tell you how grateful we are for Rebecca and all of you. We have received such an outpouring of love and care. It means so much to us! You have lifted our spirits and given us the strength to move forward and find a way to to offer what we can in these trying times. Thank you for hanging in there with us. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We look forward to seeing you soon and celebrating the Mini Meadow Boutique!

Before we sign off, we would like to mention that February is Black History Month.

Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.

Among the notable figures often spotlighted during Black History Month are Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who fought for equal rights for Blacks during the 1950s and ’60s; Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American justice appointed to the United States Supreme Court in 1967; Mae Jemison, who became the first female African-American astronaut to travel to space in 1992; and Barack Obama, who was elected the first-ever African-American president of the United States in 2008.

Staying Positive Thru Adversity

January 27, 2023 Shelley Hall

I snapped this picture above when I went by Meadow Boutique on Wednesday morning. This is the day I would normally head to work to take photos of all of our new pieces for the blog I send out on Fridays for all of you to check out and get excited about. Instead, there we stood, staring at our front window, Shelley and I, teary-eyed, wondering what would become of our favorite place to work, loving that pink dress on the mannequin. Do you know how much we love our job? Do you know how much Shelley and I love fashion? Do you now how giddy we get when you come in and find something you fall in love with? Well if you didn’t know, you do now.

Meadow Boutique looks fine from the outside until you know what happened.

There is not much we can say in light of the past few days. On Monday night there was a fire at our building. Although our unit was not burned there was smoke damage to our clothing. We are closed temporarily until things can be sorted out with the insurance company. As you can imagine, this has caused all of us great pain. Meadow Boutique has been in the Queen Anne neighborhood for 13 years. If you drive by everything looks fine from the front of the building, but on the side and the back of the building you can see the damage. The water lines and power lines have been damaged, so there are big repairs ahead before we can open our doors. Inside Meadow Boutique it smells like someone lit a sofa on fire and the fumes are quite dangerous. Shelley is working with her insurance company to figure out the best way to move forward. It is going to take some time. This we know!

We have been fortunate to have so many amazing customers and their support. Please know we are working hard to bring Meadow back to the community and we appreciate all your prayers and love! When you walk buy send good vibes, blow us a kiss and just know we are grateful for all of you that have reached out to show us you care! If there is anything we know for sure, its live in the moment, take nothing for granted, because things can change so fast and you have to be ready to give it all you got and stay positive. We all know from past experience, that is the only thing that will get us to the other side! xoxoxoxo

Pinks in January

January 20, 2023 Shelley Hall

Is there a reason we should not be buying or wearing pink in January? How about why we are told we can’t wear white jeans in Winter? I am beginning to wonder who made these rules and if I still want to follow them. I say wear whatever we want. Black and white is still OK in winter and a lovely pink dress makes us feel quite festive when its pouring outside. It makes others feel like we are having our own party when they are around us. So, what do you say….. wear pink, wear white?

The “no white after Labor Day” rule is dated. So yes, you can totally wear white jeans in the fall and winter, and there are ways to style them for the cooler season. So, can you wear pink in the winter? Absolutely! Just be sure to choose the right shade and pair it with the right colors. With a little bit of planning, you can rock pink all season long. When you see the photos below, you might just change your mind.

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique?

This week we have pieces from 2HEARTS full of pinks, light colors and a floral. LOVE TREE has light colored jackets with some light plaid shirts. Perfect with jeans and tennies. Remember those shorter DREAMERS? We finally got in some lovely spring colors to get you in the mood. Women who are petite seem to like that length better and we seem to sell out quite quickly. If you see a color below that you love, give us a call and we can hold it for 24 hours. These will be selling out fast. Don’t the colors make you feel like a celebration?

We want to acknowledge that this year, Lunar New Year begins on Sunday, January 22 and is the Year of the Rabbit. Those born in the Year of the Rabbit (1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023) are said to be talented at many things. They are affectionate people, often excelling at forming close relationships. However, they also appreciate tranquility and seek out peace. In Seattle, we have many diverse groups of people, Chinese being very prevalent in our communities. Take the time to wish them well as they enter into their New Year. It is a wonderful time of celebration for them. I lived in Singapore for a time, and the city became alive with celebrations of food, family and traditions. Happy New Year: 新年快乐 (xīn nián kuài lè)

We hope January has been joyful and happy for you. The first month of a New Year is always full of promise. We hope your intentions have been going well and if you made resolutions, you are still sticking to those and feeling good about them. I am happy to report my intentions seem to be serving me well and at this time next year, I will be preparing to move to Mexico. I am going to a whole new level of manifesting. We look forward to see you soon and hearing about all you have been up to so far this year! xoxoxo

Fashion In The Air

January 13, 2023 Shelley Hall

Here we are mid January. We hope everyone is doing well and settling into the New Year. We have heard horror stories of traveling this holiday season, bags were missing, cancelled flights, long lines for rescheduling, long wait times on the phone with airlines and the list goes on. We hope your feet are firmly planted on the ground now. Traveling this past holiday season has made most of us rethink about traveling during those times. It seems the consensus is there is not enough workers to manage the large amounts of people in the world now. There actually is not enough people working in those jobs these days. And here we are…..2023.

It’s been a little quiet here at Meadow Boutique. We are just rolling with it because we know how retail is in January. It doesn’t stop us from getting in more beautiful Fashion. It’s still coming in every week. Have a look at the pieces below and let us know if you need us to hold something for you. The colors right now are nice and light, makes you wish for Spring! Come in, try some pieces on!

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique? This week NINEXIS is the fashion for this week. Shortly after NINEXIS launched in May 2013, NINEXIS found great success with online shoppers who are looking for that go-to everyday day wear. Our customers are women who want to look and feel like themselves - always. You will find NINEXIS styles fitting any occasion and mood whether you are looking for something chic, relaxed, elegant or sporty.

It’s important to mention that Monday, January 16 is a holiday for Martin Luther Kings Jr. Birthday! Dr. King was the preacher of non-violence. He is a symbol of peace and truth. In 1964 he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racism. He had a dream to make the world a better place to live. He was assassinated on 4th April, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. He spent his whole life fighting against the social injustice. This is a day to realize the dream of Dr. King, for the freedom, equality and the dignity of all the people without any social barrier. This is a day to remember his sacrifices and to follow the path he has shown us. Washington State Parks are free on this day!

We hope that you have an amazing week. Thanks for all your support! We look forward to seeing you again soon. Onward and Upward - we just gotta keep on keeping on, friends. We are still in this together and we are grateful for you and all you bring to us when you walk through our doors with a smile. It’s your kind faces that will always keep us going. xoxoxo

January Brings Color

January 6, 2023 Shelley Hall

And colors we have. This much is true. I see pastels hanging on the racks as I type this blog. You must come in and check it out. Try as I might, I am sorting my closet with colors first in line. All colors go perfect with black and beige and grey, so there is no excuse to just go ahead and add it!

We hope your New Years was amazing! We hope that you made the proper intentions to start the year out right for yourself. This year for me, is all about intention. Intention with the food I will be eating, intention with the products I will be buying, intention with the people I will want in my life, intention of bringing kindness and good around me..….intention, intention, intention. It takes the place of those short-lived resolutions.

This week a one of the shipments was not delivered in time for the blog, so we have a few pieces of interest. HYFVE, BAILEY ROSE, PERFECT PEACH, GRATEFUL HEART, BLUE BLUSH, CES FEMME have single pieces with color and a little black and white too! Have a look below at the combinations!

We know January is a slow time of year for retail. We will be here when you need us. We have something new coming in every week. You already know that about Meadow Boutique. Always something fresh and new! When you see the pieces on the blog, you can call and hold your size, especially if it is a small you might need. I know I have told you this before, but I wanted to reiterate this again for all of our new customers who have subscribed to the blog. We have gift cards for anytime you might need a gift. We have a table of Christmas decorations that are all half price. We have cards and other gifts that could easily make someone smile! We have fashion that will suit women from the ages of 18-92. Like I said, we are here!

Carry this with you in 2023. I pasted this to my mirror. I will let you know how it is working for me. It can only help me set my intentions everyday! It’s a win-win. Feel free to paste it to your mirror too!

Enjoy the beginnings of 2023. We hope to see you in the near future. We still have dog treats, so if anything stop in and say hello with your furry friends! We know we have something you will adore! xoxoxoxo

A New Year. 2023

December 30, 2022 Shelley Hall

I remember being in high school, sitting around with my friends and talking about the year 2000 and how old we would be. I was 14 in 1972 when this conversation took place. With our math expertise we figured out we would be 42 years old. When you are 14, that seems pretty old. We couldn’t even fathom what it would be like to live to that age. It seemed so old.

The year 2000 was a big deal. The computers were suppose to crash all over the world and disasters were to take place. In the year 2000, I was living in Bangkok at the time. We decided to do something big if the world was going to come to an end as we knew it. With our friends, we stayed at a very extravagant hotel, fit for a king & queen. I was 42 years old and that did not seem old at all, by the time I got there. It was a magnificent night and life went on as we knew it as the fireworks graced the skies at midnight. Everything stayed intact in the world. We were all fine, no disasters with our computers. We woke up to a new day, a new century and I was 42 years old, just like we calculated years before..

Here we are 23 years later. My, how time flies and now I will be 65 this year. I didn’t sit around with friends and wonder how old I would be in 2023. I can tell you if I had thought about it in my 40’s, 65 would seem old. But here I am alive and well and living my best life. In my retirement years I have had the privilege of working at Meadow Boutique for the past 3 years. I have gotten to know all of you. I have seen you get rid of the old and and try on the new. You have made Meadow Boutique part of your routines to check the blog and see what’s new every week. We hope that doesn’t change because we love showcasing all of our new items every week for you to look at to see how you can fit them in your wardrobe. We are optimistic about this year and all of the fashion we will be able to offer you. Shelley will definitely stay in the same trend of purchasing fashion forward pieces at those same amazing prices. You can count on it!

So in the last week of the year, what’s new at Meadow Boutique? There’s lots of color in right now to get us in that New Year spirit. So many great pieces to pick from. Look below and see for your self!

CHERISH in with some awesome sweaters in some bright colors and a couple of button downs. &MERCI with some more bright colors in sweaters. BLU PEPPER & STACCATO with the usual beige & white. MINE & BY THE RIVER have lace tops to add to your wardrobe. Dress them up or down because they are both quite versatile. Lace is fun to add to a pair of jeans and high tops. It’s really a fun look!

We have all been through a lot together in the past few years. So what makes this New Year coming any different? I think it is a change of attitude. A change of perspective. The change within ourselves we all have the option to critique. I am not one for New Years resolutions. It always seems like a setup for disaster. Things change, things happen, life takes a turn and we have to re-evaluate our own personal goals. I say just figure out what makes you happy and go for it. Be your own authentic self and take care of you, because we know that taking care of others will follow. It’s like putting the mask on yourself in case of a water landing. Only then can you help the ones next to you put on their masks. That scenario can transfer to our everyday lives in many situations we deal with along the way.

We can’t wait to see you again. This is going to be an amazing year for all of us, right? So come in. Get brave. Try on some color. Take your New Year to a new level! After all, we deserve a New Year’s gift after buying for everyone else. Take inventory of what you have in your closet and get rid of the pieces you aren’t going to wear. Bag them up. Donate them. Come visit Meadow to spruce up your closet with new fashion....new you. Happy New Year to you and your family! Cheers to 2023! xoxoxoxo

Gifts From Your Heart

December 16, 2022 Shelley Hall

Don’t you think most gifts come from our hearts? We think of our loved ones and find gifts during this season that will make them feel good, feel happy. Giving and receiving gifts at Christmas is one of the joys of the festive season. It’s a particularly exciting time for children. Most of us can remember the excitement and anticipation of coming downstairs early on Christmas morning to find stockings stuffed with Christmas treats and a pile of colorfully wrapped gifts under the Christmas tree. Christmas presents are a time to surprise and delight those we love. People enjoy finding that perfect gift. Once wrapped and delivered, the giver watches the recipient's happy face as he or she unwraps it.

Gift giving is part of the Christmas holiday. It’s easy to let yourself get carried away. Or feel guilty about the amount you spend. However, gift giving traditions keep the spirit of Christmas alive by ensuring your family gets heartfelt and meaningful gifts year after year. Christmas as a young family is such an amazing time and creates memories that last for a lifetime. After all, isn’t gathering around the tree with your kids opening presents you worked so hard for, what having kids is all about?!

Have you ever heard of the Four Gift Rule: something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read. Or Four Gift Plus Rule - something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read, something to do, something for me, and something for family. Makes it easier for the gift giver to decide. The four gift rules might help you this year! It certainly helps me. Whatever your way of figuring out gifts, we wish you an easy way to get everything you need.

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique? We received lots of gloves this week. Perfect for to putting together sets with our scarves and beanies. Who doesn't need gloves, a scarf, and a beanie in these cold Winter months? We have a few tops in from CHERISH. Not much in this week, but the Boutique is full nonetheless. We received so many pieces this month, and now we are taking it a bit slower on shipments until the New Year.

We are here for you during these next holiday weeks. We hope we can help you find those special gifts you have been looking for. One for them, one for you! Isn’t that how gifts work? So much fun shopping at Meadow. We are experiencing the peace, love and joy that this holiday season will bestow on all of us. We have impeccable customer service here and we want to pass that down to our customers. So…please let us! Come in and let us help with your gifts, especially the ones from your heart! xoxoxoxo

Joy To Our World

December 9, 2022 Shelley Hall

Joy to our World - Our family really lucked out this year. We decided to change up our gift giving with our family members. We elected to give Christmas gifts to only my mom and grandson. The rest of us have everything we need and we vowed to get together and go out to dinner or do an activity together, instead of gifts. No one wants the stress of going out and fighting the traffic and crowds for an  over abundance of gifts. Crowds can still make some of us uneasy. We only want to experience the Joy of this holiday, with Peace and Love.

Some people have no difficulty getting into the Christmas spirit; others need a little encouragement. But it really is the most magical time of the year, and finding your festive side makes it all the more merry. Nothing makes me feel more in the spirit than taking a drive to see Christmas lights around the city. There may be a street or two known for being extra decked out with lights and Christmas displays that will certainly get into the Christmas mood! It can be a date night or kids night. Hop in the car with snacks and jammies and drive around a winter wonderland of lights. I guarantee it will put you in a festive mood!

Greater Seattle On The Cheap has a list of Christmas light displays burning brightly with 100,000 to 1,000,000 lights for 2022. Most are FREE. Many are at private homes in neighborhoods throughout the Puget Sound region that can be enjoyed from the warmth of your vehicle as you idle past. Others are drive-thru or walk-thru commercial displays with an admission charge.

www.greaterseattleonthecheap.com/best-christmas-lights-seattle/

This week was light (pardon the pun) in deliveries for Meadow Boutique. Just a few pieces for you or your gift giving. We still have so much in the Boutique that will get you through the holidays. Please don’t hesitate to stop in and check it out. We don’t want you to be stressed about your list or being able to find that perfect gift. This week we have items from ANGIE, STACCATO and GILLI. From glittery to soft and cozy. Check out the photos below.

We wish lots of calm and cool during this Holiday Season. Stop by and say hello and let us help you grab those special gifts. Thank you for all your support, we couldn’t have done it this year without you. So you better get going on your get to your list, sing yourself a Christmas tune and start wrapping those gifts. We are right here with you, fa la la la la…la la la la. xoxoxoxo

Cheers To The Holidays!

December 2, 2022 Shelley Hall

Here we are in December. The final month of the year and the holidays are right around the corner. This year is almost over, I can’t believe it. I was trying to think of all the highlights of my year, and I realize that the most important thing is I am still here after the past 3 years and so are my friends and family members. Nothing else really matters, really. There’s a lot happening in our world, but in the end as long as we have each other, we will always get through it. Isn’t that what this season is about; being grateful that we have the gift of our our family and friends? Cheers to the Holidays!

We have so much to choose from in the Boutique right now. There is something for everyone. From lovely fashion, to ornaments and gifts. We have a full house with lots of goodies and gifts that would make anyone smile on your list. It’s getting cold outside and we have even had some snow. Seattle seems to have gotten snow the past couple of years around this time, so do yourself a favor and keep your lovely self warm and cozy! At Meadow Boutique, we have so many items that can do just that. So, don’t hesitate to stop by and have a look!

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique? It was a light delivery week at Meadow but great pieces, nonetheless.

LOVE TREE has two great coats that will keep you warm and cozy, one with buttons and the other with a hood and tie waist. ADORA with two shackets in some great plaids in navy/black and burgundy and oh, so soft. CIELO with some cable neck v-neck pullovers that come in many different colors you will love. We have also added red and white turtlenecks. Perfect for the holiday season. All the pieces are styled below as outfits, so you can figure how you can style it with what you already have at home. Every year I add pieces here or there that can match up with my wardrobe outfits. There is nothing better than buying a gift for yourself too!

As I type, it’s snowing, then raining, then snowing again. Tis’ the season I guess to be prepared for any kid of weather that comes around. I don’t want to take up too much of your time this week because I know everyone is getting busier by the day. Stop by and let us help you cross off the people on your list with gifts that will make everyone happy! We would love to be able to help you in any way we can. It’s not a time to be stressed, it’s a time to breathe in Love. Joy. Peace. It’s time to give with an open heart. Be grateful. Be kind. Be patient. Be love. xoxoxox

Support Small Business Saturday

November 25, 2022 Shelley Hall

Saturday, November 26, 2022 is Small Business Saturday – a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. This year, we know that small businesses need our support now more than ever as they navigate, retool and pivot from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Please join organizations across the country in supporting your local small businesses by shopping at a small business. The benefits? Most small businesses sell products that you can't get anywhere else — whether online or in person. Plus, it's a great way to both surprise your loved ones and support small business owners at the same time.

The dollars you spend on Small Business Saturday make a difference beyond retailers' doors. Small businesses create local jobs and pay local taxes, which keeps money circulating within communities. Small businesses can often have a hard time competing with mega-corporations and by recognizing how important small businesses are to the economy, you will be able to shift your spending.

REASONS TO SHOP LOCALLY

  • Create Jobs – “If every American spent $64 on something made in America, we could create 200,000 jobs right now.”

  • Keep Money Local – Sales taxes help fund vital services in our communities. Also, local businesses are also more likely to spend money locally, keeping more money in the community.

  • Creates a Diverse Community – Shopping locally encourages people to businesses that are unique and an alternative to chain stores.

  • Better for the Environment – Many locally owned businesses also offer local products which require far less transportation.

  • Better Customer Service – Local business owners are passionate about their businesses and connected to the community. This often contributes to better and more personal customer service.

  • Helps Your Community Grow – Keeping tax dollars in your community and creating demand will help encourage new businesses and help your city grow.

  • More Support for Nonprofits – Studies show that nonprofits receive 250 percent more support from small businesses than larger businesses.

  • Connect with your Community – Shopping locally helps you connect with people in your community and learn about more things going on around you.

Encourage your friends and family to shop locally this year by sharing these ideas on this post. Consider supporting Small Business Saturday instead of Black Friday this year as well. It’s a great way to save money while supporting local businesses. It also gives you more time with family for Thanksgiving before going out shopping.

What’s new this week at Meadow Boutique?

REFLEX, HYFVE and HAILY & CO all have red pieces to chose from. Come on…..red will not turn you into an apple and most people look great in red. Get festive friends! Try adding some red to your wardrobe. Break out of the Seattle grays, blacks and beiges. CHERISH has some lovely green hues in their pieces in different styles. There is a new brand of denim in town called HAMMER COLLECTION and they specialize in denim that aims to make every woman feel comfortable and stylish! The washes are light, dark and black. SM WARDROBE has sweatshirts with cats and dogs galore. Perfect for the cat & dog lovers on your gift list. Super cute! There’s also festive sweatshirts with perfect words to get you in the spirit. MERRY! Don't forget to keep those tootsies warm during the holidays with our furry slippers for $32. You can find them when you walk in our door right under the Christmas table. Have a look below at all the new arrivals. We also have some furry, cozy slippers in this week too. We are stocked for Small Business Saturday and the upcoming holiday season!

When you come up for air after that Thanksgiving feast, we will be here for you and all of your gift needs. One for them, one for me……that’s how I shop. Tis the season to give in whatever way you see fit. We appreciate you and all the support you have given us this year. Shop Small on Saturday and support your local, small businesses in your community. We appreciate you for supporting Meadow all year long, so shopping with us on Saturday will be a bonus. We look forward to seeing you…..xoxoxoxo

Small businesses provide the feeling that a real person is behind it all, someone who cares more about giving us a quality product or service, over just taking our hard-earned dollars. – Annia Bukhman
